Magnificent. I possess a letter from the genius George McDonald Fraser which he wrote in response to my long letter of gratitude for the endless joy his Flashman series has given me.
I agree Timothy West 'is' Flashman, fantastic narrative with all the characters as well, I have read and listened to all of the Flashman books over again and never tire of them....
Timothy West is Flashman, l am unable to listen to any other narater reading Flashman. Mr West in BBC Gentleman Jack was at his superlative best. It is well worth watching.
That bit of eavesdropping from the musician's gallery is repeated in Where Eagles Dare & echoed on the film The 4 Musketeers - the latter of which had its screenplay written by GMF.
LOVE IT!!! THANK YOU!!! I was avoiding the series because of nightmarish narrator David Case ( Frederickson) Who's so bad that he has to run under 2 names.
'This excellent story was recorded to tape, and this print was obviously made after it had been stored for some time due to the "print through" (it sounds like echo that happens before the main signal).
I can’t thank you enough for uploading these. Do you by any chance have Timothy West doing Flash for Freedom? I want to listen to these in order and that’s next for me
@@hobozero9966 Brother I have never even heard of Flashman and never been a fan of most British humor. I can't thank you enough for bringing these books to us. All those words like cad, bounder, and all the others I've never found a use for fit the man perfectly as only he can tell it. It's going to take a while to get through these and like others who have commented here I am going to have to read them in their proper order. Thank you for providing the audio versions. I haven't been able to focus well enough to actually read a book in a long time and must rely on them and very often they are read so badly or by a machine that just doesn't work. These are very enjoyable.
It's hard to work out because GMF didn't write them in chronological order.Flashman and the redskins is in 2 years 1849 & 1876-of course-has to get Flashy at the little big horn.
Thanks for giving me so much joy and reviving many happy memories. My dear dad introduced me to Flashy one night and we shared a mutual love for him for the rest of our lives.

If you’ve no heir, may I purchase that letter from you?

The background noise gives me the impression of sitting in a dingy clubroom as old Flashman recounts his reminiscences.
Haha , very good
Print through. An old cassette tape.
Totally satisfying. THank you for this.
When you’re at the wrong end of shrooms in loas, flashman is the remedy 🇬🇧
The Flashman Papers is truly fantastic: utterly engrossing. Fraser was a great writer, and West's narration is terrific.
Timothy West 1934-2024 RIP
Such a loss 😢

Thanks. I’ll check it it. Cheers.

Good lad, Hobo. These are always much appreciated.
Excellent narration of a great story. Thank you
you are a hero for posting these! Thanks so much.
Awesome thanks for uploading
Brilliant. Very hard to get copies of the Timothy West narration. Many thanks.
Brilliant. Thank you so much! Just can't find these. 🙏

Genius! Perfect! What else is there to add?

Amongst the Dakota, Arapahoe and Cheyenne the Gary Owen was a song used to frighten children and to be listened for as warning of the enemy.
Brilliant!

"It is the feverish wind."
Let’s goooooo
Marvelous!
Huzzah for Flashy....
H U Z Z A H
HUZZAH I say!
Amazing, thank you! I have the latest version of this, but it doesn’t compare to Timothy West’s narration.
I love you. West is SO much better than David Case.
I am unable to get through a book narrated by Mr Case. There is one problem with the Flashman books and that is there are nowhere near enough.
Would it be possible to get a flash and the redskins? I love these!
I love this. But the background noise is driving me nuts!! 😆

afraid not, been looking for that one myself for a couple years

Chronologically it comes before this book I believe.

This was fun.
An honest Englishmen. Cowardly and skillful.
Cowardly? I think not.
There is an echo I hear on this recording. Is there a way filter it out?
No, I don't have any solution to that.
This guy is so funny!!!
GMF at his best,I wonder if he was influenced by the film or the other way around.
Fraiesr copied the wolf chase in at the charge from dennis wheatley
