    Thanks again for another insightful video.
    What is your basis for 50 Dark frames? If I recall my Adam Block training correctly, he recommended 10 as long as when you “Blinked” them, they all had roughly the same background levels using the left mouse click on the images as they scroll by.

      Thank you! Very good question. Similar to light frames collecting read noise and shot noise and overcoming SNR with stacking multiple light frames, during dark frames, we are collecting dark current. Very low noise cameras can get away with 10 dark frames as long as conditions are correct, however, it is possible to have dark current noise become prominent in your image if it is not overcome correctly (stacking multiple dark frames together into a proper master). I say a general 50x dark frames to cover a majority of cameras that someone just starting out would most likely have as this would be a good target number to aim for.

      I think Adam's point was that most of us are taking pretty pictures and not creating high resolution research grade images. On that basis, strike a balance between effort and precision, taking into account your equipment and final intent. I take 20 dark frames, 3-4 times each season to account for temperature changes.
