Too many Americans are blind to the fact that quality education is an investment in the future. The US does not graduate enough professionals to fill many technical jobs and have to hire immigrants from Asia.

Yeah I think most presidents who believe in god must assume he chose them for the Presidency because, you know, that's the whole point of god. What's uniquely scary about Mike Pence is his extremism and cronyism. He's not the opposite of Trump, but the inverse. Where Trump's lack of belief in anything other than himself makes him dangerous, Pence's belief in a white supremacist god makes him even more dangerous. Where Trump's inability to accept criticism make him dangerous, Pence's willingness to be a whipping boy for people with power make him dangerous...

Yes, because people _haven't_ been gathering en masse at beaches, clubs, open markets, ect., during a highly contagious pandemic that has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives. And before you say "that's just a loud minority", the loudest voice is the one the general public most often hears, and over the course of three months, I've seen far more people in the general public without masks than with.

As someone who has been in conversion therapy, whose parents refused to call it conversion therapy and still do even now, and who believe mike pence is fundamentally not homophobic, I can assure you that all it takes for people is him not calling it conversion therapy. Pence provided the most basic possible defense and people like my parents ate it up, because they always knew it was conversion therapy, they just needed any layer of deniability. And that’s why they still love Pence to this day, and the organizations he supports and gets support from.

I agree. But, with it likely that Trump will have a second term, I worry Pence will become President by succession.
Trump is such an unhealthy person, that I can see him either becoming incapacitated, if not dying, with plenty of time left for Pence to do some damage.
And what scares me, is I’m not sure how far Pence might go. We’ve had extremely religious politicians in the Presidency before, but Pence has extreme fundamentalist beliefs, if all his eccentricities aren’t partly an act, which he cultivated earlier in his career.
The scariest scenario imo, is the fundamentalist idea of bringing about the end times, through global war. With the pandemic, a true believer may justify that one, or more of the seven seals have been broken, and it’s his job to speed up the process.

As someone who grew up Catholic, I'd say that they are VERY likely to vote Republican because a lot of the ones I've encountered at least are single-issue 'pro-life' voters

@@oilgun01 there's a book out there by an old professor of mine called "A Catholic New Deal" in which, well the name pretty much sums it up: FDR and the New Deal basically solidified an entire generation or two of Catholics as diehard democrats by, you know, implementing social programs and helping people.
It wasn't until republicans figured they could ditch politics and campaign on religion & abortion that they started voting conservative in the 1970s.
Very strange to see as I am a Black Catholic and...well of course Republican is not an option. Also, I'm in a 2-1 Democrat state and many White Catholics I know are Democrat as well

Yeah, nobody wants someone ELSE to claim that they know what God wants. But a lot of people think that they _themselves_ do.
Individual Christians or groups have claimed to hear God or sense (know) what God wants. It can be general (ex. repentance, love, justice) or specific (be a missionary). The idea is that if someone has a relationship with God (via worship, prayer, bible reading etc)., then they should know what God wants. Otherwise how do you know you're doing the right thing? How else can you be certain about things like no women priests or no abortion? So it's not a blasphemous concept in Christian circles. However, everyone agrees that someone can be wrong in their hearing or interpretation of what they heard.

This is actually a super big disagreement between various Christian groups. Catholics, iirc, do universal believe it to be blasphemy. Some protestants do, some don't. So, when Pence converted, he may have seen that as a pass for him to assume the will of God.

I’m so glad to see this, there is so little content about Pence.
As a gay man from Indiana, I can never forget how this person turned my state upside down five years ago with his religious insanity. As least it gave the opportunity to many Hoosiers to stand up against him and show that "Hoosier hospitality" is more than skin-deep. Pence doesn't represent us as much as many might think and for that I am grateful. People think that having Trump as president has been a disaster, but having Pence as president would be a catastrophe. This is why people who don't want to see that happen MUST overcome whatever apathy they have about voting and make sure that doesn't happen. Thank you for being another voice to sound the alarm.

One little thing you didn't mention at the end. He believes he has been chosen by God and everything he does is divinely appointed, and everything he believes is right.
