    Great video! Whilst there it might have been useful to change the oil cooler as they seem to prone to leaking on the OM651 after 100k miles

    Jesus! Thank you! It remindes me how much working on these engines is a pain in thé as s, got out à diesel pump on a sprinter with the kind of engine and what a job! I was thinking of geting a e250 cdi… hummm i will forget it. Hate this mécanic, i’ m keeping my 606 lol or maybe a e350cdi…?

    I've just bought a GLS 200d and the codes that have come up 4 days later are suggesting the same repair. The garage I bought the car off are arranging the repair, I'm hoping they will clean some of the components that need to go back on. Can the EGR be mapped out?

    Excellent vid mercman. Im about to remove my inl mani. 60000 miles 2 to 3 merc oil n filter changes a year. Removed my egr pipe. Inlet manifold. Thick with carbon. These engines were designed by dr evil on the merc engineering team. Egr gas and crankcase mist combine in inlet to make killer tar. Limited longevity in full force. My last merc. I ever buy. Garbage

      Timing chain tensioners also fail and drain empty overnight to sump. The oil filter housings all drain to sump overnite. Drystarts. Oil feed delay to empty chain tensioner. Cold rattle. On cold start. 3 seconds and its silent. Merc say its normal just engine heating up. 3 seconds. Then silence !!Its a diesel mate not nuclear fusion.

    Very informative videos , they lack tightening torques values of what is assembled. I don't understand why on Mercs nobody gives tightening torques and sequence of tightening especially for plastic components .

    Hey , great video but how did you do this with these 4 throtle bolts , Im struggeling at that point because its so difficult to put these throttle bolts back in from underneath

    I have fault codes coming up saying MAF sensor malfunction and also charge movement flap bank 1

    I have to do this job in a few weeks time, so thanks for the video, The OM engine is a marvel but mr mercedes never ever thought about maintenance, Personally i have had enough of my W212 E220 E class, after this job is done i will get rid of the car, it has been the very worse car that i have ever owned, rear subframe failed, replaced free by mercs, then they fitted the wrong front springs, i have the rear disc back plates to replaced like the subframe rusted through, silly messages, yeah i have had enough of this particular piece of junk. This inlet manifold is the very last straw. the car is shit so beware all that venture towards an E class.

      My W212 E220CDI is the best car I've ever owned, 160K miles & only issue I've had in the 60K I've put on it is last month the diaphragm capsule controlling the VGT had to be changed.

    I had same problem on my Vito W447. I do most of my own repairs but once seeing how involved the job was and being so busy in my own work I took to a indi merc garage. 2200 for the part and labour. I declined and tried where else. Next garage quoted 1300 including the 400 pound manifold. What a bitch of an engine to work on i'll say even though i subbed the work out.

    Hi, can i remove the a/c compressor from the base without remove the pipe ? Simply put on antifreeze tank ?

      You should be able to take the bolts out and move it to the side a bit without disconnecting the pipe it will just make the job abit harder

      I just let it drain down as i remove the parts and then top up once finished

    HELLO, ☺nice video. I've the same problem on my car, 200d OM651, and in the tech service they advise me to replace the small intercooler too. What's your opinion about this proposal? Thanks in advance for your feedback

      Hi Fernando, why did they advise to change that too? I have never had a problem with the intercooler on these models so far.

      @@mercmantips Hi, they sow me the small intercooler disassembled from one W176, with same motor OM651, and it was full of carbon too. It happens due to the recirculation of exhaust gases system.

      When you reinstalled the high pressure line from the pump, did you have fuel pressure to start the vehicle? It's just that I'm getting the error PA0087FA, I would appreciate your help.

      @juancarlosnietonavas8520 usually it cranks abit longer untill it builds up fuel pressure for it then to start, but maximum around 5-10 seconds of cranking starts the engine

    The aluminium bracket you removed at around 4 minutes in whats ita purpose... i have coolant leaking onto the inlet manifold, i think its that part thats leaking, i own a cla 200d

    Great video, having the exact same issue as this with my c class estate p200a21 fault code, causes rough idle, low acceleration under boost and poor fuel economy , could you tell me how many hours labour you gave for this as trying to price it up in my local area. cheers

      I DONE THE SAME THING THE OTHER DAY IT TOOK 2 DAYS AFTER CLEANING OFF ALL THE OTHER PARTS PLUS REPLACING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IM POSATIVE THE TOTAL PRICE IS £ 1500 AS THE NEW PART ALONE IS £480 FROM THE MAIN DELA MAKE SURE YOU GOT A PHONE CHARGED UP AS THE AMOUND OF SCREWS YOU TAKE OFF IS UNREAL🤣😅😂😅

    I’ve got the same issue on my CLA 220D 2016 get error codes P200A and P0401 which indicates to the same problem which is the intake manifold, I’ve bought the part on eBay but need someone to replace it, are you located in London by any chance?

      For the P200 code, yes, the inlet must be changed. But for the code P0401 you have to change the complete egr valve. I solved the same problem on a class A 2016

      All diesels generally have carbon built up, especially if driven in town a lot..

      Possibly also a goosed thermostat or air leak making the recycled exhaust gas VERY sooty and clogging up inlet. Check all emissions and fuelling sensors are working.

    I think I got a similar issue with my cla shooting brake 220d. Just had an oil seal replaced but without complication. Currently getting the inket manifold replaced as of the garage's latest update. Basically they couldnt work out why there were fumes getting through the vents when I reported it and also, i had some really wierd engine performance of what seem i can only described as the car going into limp mode (based on my research). Essentially i would occasionally get chugging behaviour when apply acceleration and it would go into limp mode where the paddle shifters would no longer work. Also another sign was that the dynamic select had no change in the way the car drove, it just maintained its own speed and would accelerate at its own accord. Anyway, finger crossed that this the issue, but missing how it drove previously. It work better when it had an oil leak 😂

      I got a 2016 GLA 200d with 75k miles on last week and it's exactly the same as you describe. It kangaroos like an old petrol car with a faulty choke. I've rejected the car under the Consumer Protection Act, the garage I bought it from are taking it to a Merc specialist (apparently) to have the job done FOC. I'm hoping they clean what looks like the remains of the UK coal mining industry out of the remaining components. Did your car's performance and MPG improve after the work was done?

    Very nice video but unfortunately it doesn't really help that much as the most important info is where the bolts are, how many & how to remove properly the details are the most important part so for me speeding it up isn't really that helpful 👍👍

    Disastrous car, always serviced by Mercedes, I too had to change it after only 120K km, shortly after the EGR valve, after cleaning the air flow meter. Some time before, the turbine mysteriously exploded and before selling it, the DPF was clogged and the regeneration no longer started. Finally, the day before giving it to the dealer, who took it back from me crying, the water pump broke!!! Whoever has this car should sell it as soon as possible after 90k km it was a disaster and I'm not the only one this has happened to.

      I have this current warning, as well as 2 nox sensors out.. 60k miles, 4 year old.. I've had it from 6 months old, always serviced by Mercedes, driven mostly on long motorway rides.. You dont expect this much carbon build up to the point of engine components failing after less than 100k miles..

      Designed by dr evil on the mercedes board to fail. Egr gas and crankcase mist combine in inlet to create black tar death. Im just about to strip mines. 60000 miles 2 to 3 oil changes a year. Just pulled out egr pipe. Its like the inside of my wood burning stove. Intentional bad design. Its called limit longevity.
