you did the right thing the first SA was so unprofessional I mean think about the money that you pay for the bag.. is it too much to ask for a standard quality product gosh 🙄 thanks for sharing this so helpful for people who are considering a jodie bag
Leather definitely varies from bag to bag. I don’t like when SA’s give a bogus explanation. They don’t have much training/knowledge a lot of times but shoppers new to the brand can get “convinced” by their inadequate explanations. Next time if something feels “off” don’t purchase! You got lucky that they exchanged it at a different boutique but I wouldn’t take that chance next time. Good for you for finally asserting yourself!!!

I was at Bottega today and I saw Jodies with super loose weaving. Definitely doesnt look like what you have!
SA told me the same thing about using it and the weaving somehow will go tighter (?)

great story hehe! I think when you're purchasing something from a luxury brand, it must be perfect...because you're paying the very luxurious work and so must be perfect, especially if you saved a lot for it 😆
Thanks for sharing this girl! But also I feel you when you said you felt bad for bothering your SA, DONT tho! So many of them are so entitled and bratty - and tbh if your SA was a good/nice SA in the first place he wouldn't have brought out that first faulty bag to you.
I totally feel you on this! I just got the small Jodie from my trip to Tokyo and the first one my SA showed me had the same wrinkles as well. Thankfully, there was another one at their store and I'm totally in love with it :)

I got a Jodie a yesterday but when I brought it back, I noticed quite a few creases and the weave being loose in some parts and I was really agonizing if I should exchange it. I completely relate to not wanting to be a bother. Thanks to your video, I got some courage to go back to the store and exchange it. Thankfully I was able to and I love my new piece! Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your story! I received one that looks fine at first but the leather under the shoulder strap had curled and the leather split where the leathers intersect. I haven’t worn it yet at all so definitely returning it but I’m wondering if it is something that eventually happens as you rub the part often while wearing it?
Thank you for sharing. I don’t know why we always have to feel bad to spend a lot of money when the goods are not up to standard. Of course, there are customers keep changing their minds, that’s not good either. I personally really don’t like the style of this Jodie bag. When you say the bag looks better in real life, all I see is people carrying a banana boat bag. I like relax bags, I have a few too, not this one. Recently I see lots of bags like this (like Chanel 22 bin bag) being “engineered” into people’s brains as bee’s needs. Social media can brainwash people, only buy things that make you happy. Every purchase should be a good memory rather than feeling like a lucky escape. ❤
Agreed. I really like the small Jodie though! I would actually want to buy it in other colors too. I agree with the Chanel 22 tote its really not great. And its way too expensive for what it is..its not fashion its branding
One thing about SA’s is that you don’t need to trust their word 100%, they’re just trying to make a sale tbh. It’s unlikely they would say bad about their products but it’s really great that you followed your intuition!! You’re literally paying thousands for a bag so you should love it 100%, including staff’s service & all.
Dear Erica, thanks for your video. I just got my small jodie and I asked him to take out another one for me to compare. All bags are indeed completely different :) I would like to ask you how you are maintaining/protecting it. Any kind of water repellent for the cold season ? Thanks
Dear TopLaurota, sorry for the super late reply! Im glad you could choose from a few bags 😂 i maintain it by laying it flat and kept inside my dustbag my room is air coned 24 seven and so thats how i keep it. I also put in a dehumidifier charcoal pack inside the dustbag !

@@toplaurita ya i do not want to add extra things to the leather im a little ocd about it. Its super humid where i stay so dehumidifier is needed for sure (i use the charcoal dehumidifier packets for guitars) i think as long as you keep it out of moisture the leather will stay fine

Omg, wish I had seen this before going into buy my small jodie. I just bought it in caramel and after looking at my bag I think the weave is looser. It annoys me that the customers have to be doing the quality control checks for something that is a luxury purchase.
Oo how long ago did you make the purchase? Also did yours have life time warranty? Im sure you can do something about it.
Also do be careful with your bag when it comes to moisture. Humidity can change the shape of the leather, the leather quality and even the size.
Literally just bought it last night. My husband thinks I am being paranoid but I'm considering going in store again and seeing if they have another one that is better. Tbh some of the colours in the jodie just have thicker leather and some colours like black are in the slouchier thinner leather. Also the leather's raw edges are way more obvious in the caramel colour than the black. Ahhhh so torn because I have too many black bags but I have a feeling if I want the softer leather and the tighter weave I may have to change colours :(
@@saraimran12 Actually for the black one I have gotten the thicker leather version as well.. which i have exchanged it to the current one i have. You should go back to the store, they will definitely do something about. Tell them about the loose weaving problem and your concern regarding the raw edges.
bottega bags will never have a 100% tight weave, i have many different bags with the intricciato pattern and theres a bit of give on all of them, its the nature of the weave
If I was in your shoes I would be petrified, especially if they stood their ground.

Hey! So I decided black was more practical and chic in the end. The thought that black went with every color was more enticing to me haha. Im super happy I changed it ! :) I also think it goes better with my wardrobe choice.

No need to feel bad and make excuses for the sales advisors in luxury stores. Is absolutely scandalous - all of these bad luxury experiences.. AND many brands poor ‘quality’ and cutting huge corners in materials and production…..
personal opinion i would have preferred the thicker calf skin leather lol.
