I've been maining healers most of my wow life, but I'll probably go warlock and have a hpally for my healing needs. Kinda wanted to play priest, but holy hero talents are either an awful mess or boring, shadow looks kinda meh and unless they rework disc it seems pretty painful to play in M+.
Warlock main with a mage alt. I decided that since both are good at solo questing, m+, raiding and PvP, then it makes sense to have a main and an alt that are both the same armor type for the warband gear and also for tailoring. My other options were DH and rogue alt, and also paladin with a DK alt. In the end the aesthetics of the clothy transmog won the day for me
Here is how I pick my classes: 1. Do I want ranged or Melee 2. A rotation that enjoy doing, its rhythm and pacing and the resources the class uses 3. The visuals of the abilities 4. What roles do I want to fill(usually all, but at least two) 5. Pick one class for each armor type.(Why? Because I'm an altoholic and this limits me, warbands being limited is also helping me a ton xD )
"Make sure you like all the specs on a class." This is good advice. Its also the only reason I don't main a Warrior. I LOVE Fury. Fury is hands down my favorite spec. I HATE Arms, Arms is hands down my least favorite spec, and I don't like tanking. So I play Mage instead. Three flavors of epilepsy all are paced differently, feel unique, and flow nicely; plus Mage has great utility. Love me Mage. Simple as.

With the introduction of the warband I’m going to try not maining but banding. I’ve always played multiple characters, usually one of each armour type. One usually edges ahead and is more fun and that becomes the ‘main’. Agree with advice on don’t pick flavour of the month. With this kind of discussion I think a more basic question needs to be asked first - what content are you focusing on and how far do you want to push it. There are so many different ways to play the game and that is a major factor in role/class/race/spec choice from high end raider to limited time mythic pluser to PVPer to mount/transmog collector and many more.
I think I'm going to at least go mage and paladin. Gonna leave my DH behind because it didn't get as much love between expansions, no idea what my new leather user would be.
I’ve been a lifelong (10+ year) mage with no alts. With mop remix I made a mm hunter and a demo lock which I leveled to 70 and it was fun. And then I found assassination rogue and completely fell in love. I leveled one in remix and then paid $40 to make an auto level 70 in retail which I’m gearing now. That will be my main in TWW. It’s funny because fire mage was looking OP as always and TWW sin rogue looks abysmal 😂 but I’m still going to main it because it’s just too much fun. I’ll make it work
Sin rogue is pretty cool. Its the one rogue spec that I really enjoy but outlaw and sub always seem to pull ahead and those two specs give me hand cramps..too many amp for my taste.
I've played wow since day 1 played all the classes but never really got into them all if that makes sense. Mage is always good they just are and from what I've played of them in alpha and beta every spec is just so much fun this go round. They really are the best ones in the content so far. I'd also put evoker ret paladin monk tank druid dks a few others. You just can tell which classes and specs feel good with the hero talents some do some don't and some are just mehh middle average kinda lol
In classic, finding a main is tricky. But after I mained monk in retail, there has never been any doubt. Been my main for years now, its fantastic and I never get bored.
Been playing WOW off and on since 2005. First time watching your content and giving it a like. Picking a main class should be informative which you provided. Also class tiers always change. Always pick a class you genuinely enjoy playing. Tried most of them but I've always been a combat/outlaw rogue the most. Least stressful and I'm just too comfortable with the class. But for some reason, I unlocked all my pvp achivements with the Unholy Death Knight, having the most fun playing a Demon Hunter. Still need to try those Drakothyr classes.
This was a great vid. I can't wait to main a DK after playing a Paladin since vanilla. Even though I do still like Pally, No longer being forced to play him is going to be sooo nice.
Arcane damage is crazy but honestly… frostfire mage might be the most fun I’ve ever had with mage. Arcane is only good if you can master it and I personally don’t find it that fun. Very similar picks though!
I am gonna main Monk seems fun and the talents so far what i have seen look real fun. I have mained Ret-Pala and Assa-Rouge and Survival Hunter over the Last 2 Addons been switching between them every season. But now i will return for my Main class and spec from way back when it came out ^^ and im gonna stick to it the whole addon. And for my main twink i will either go Fury-Warrior or one of the DD specs from the Shaman since i never played a Shaman as a DD.
There are few more important things picking class - APM and number of keybinds. also some classes have completely different APM in dungeons and single target raids(Devoker and Frost mage comes to mind). You wont be enjoying your class with hand pain and if you like less keybinds you wont be enjoying it if its so bloated you have to use friend/foe macros and alt/shift/ctrl etc modifiers.

I've had so many favs over the years (decades I guess), I hardly touched the last expansion... my main has been a druid the last few. I'm coming back and currently biting my nails between my druids, spriets, or shaman. (I have 2 of each, H/A)
Considering I just level a warlock to 70 in a single day in the mop remix mode, I'm going to go ahead and level a mage and pally so I can have some potentially great alts / meta classes in my pocket if I decide that's the route I want to go down. The more classes you level in the mop remix the faster the leveling experience gets so it just makes sense to send a few classes to 70 that you think you might want to explore when the expansion drops. I really enjoyed leveling the warlock, I will probably try to main it in the expansion, but if the dps doesn't improve I might end up looking else where, we will see.
Gonna have to be DK for me. Unholy has been my bread and butter for years, I might make a monk alt tho... Because death and decay goes so well with chill and spiritual😂

I uses to play back in pandaria expansion, I love ice mage in any fantasy game but I wanted to try warlock because you could get greenfire on abilities after a certain quest, at least I hope it's still the case. I downloaded the game today after almost a decade
Thanks for the useful guide! I would main priest to have a DoT-based DPS and off-spec heal, but I am hating SPriest's busy rotation. I guess I will stay with my Aff Warlock unless an SPriest rework is in the way. Sad that it locks me out of healing.
I like to pick 1 main and 3 alts. For TWW I’m going with Unholy DK because I can off-spec Blood, and DK’s in general are shaping up to be a rarer spec looking at Reddit and forum trends. Icy Veins had an article on class popularity a few days ago that referenced them. My 3 alts will be Hunter (Marks), Rogue (Outlaw) and Warlock (Affliction). If something goes wrong with DK, one of the other three will be great, even if I have to pick a different spec like BM or Sub to do mythic raiding.
@@stillsolo DK in general is bottom two in popularity, but I agree the amount of them will shoot up once average players see what they can do, especially riding in the open world
When I played wow 2 years ago I only played hunter. The mobility just fits my playstyle better then turret style or limited mobility. I don't care how good they are or if they are in a bad place hunter will always be my baby.
Might be as good of a place to ask as any. I played WoW a LONG time ago. Came back for like 2 months in Dragonflight because a buddy convinced me. But it died off for me. Didn't like all meta pushing, it felt like work and not a game. I want to come back and just solo whatever I can. I saw that last year they added follower dungeons. So that seems like I can still do all the story and everything. But is that just specific dungeons? I'm assuming it doesn't have all the old ones. I'd really like to roll level 1 and go up like the old days. Follower dungeons as you progress seem like it would be really cool. I don't like the idea of starting fresh after all these years at level 70 and jumping right into the end game. There was so much story going from zone to zone across the world. Anyone have any feedback about playing solo (mostly due to time/commitment constraints) starting at level 1 "fresh"? No heirlooms etc (if those are even still a thing)? Thanks!
The discussions here in the comments are interesting, but I have to say have Blizzard put your favorite class / spec down on the DPS Meters is only one side of the coin. We as a community play a big part as well. Maybe class/spec X is generally weaker than class/spec y, but who knows? Some people might pull off some dope stuff with it. The majority of players should start to chill out, I dont know maybe 2% of the playerbase is going for world 1st ect. So play whatever you like and maybe more important: Let ppl play whatever they like. Great video btw.

My Warrior and Shaman is what I'll be playing. I don't enjoy playing either class but until they make Paladins, which is my favorite class, available to Orcs, my favorite race, they're all I got. I have tried to play Paladin with other races, but it just doesn't feel right to play a Paladin with them.
1. Must be a dps spec 2. Good at solo casual PVP like warmode and bgs and general 1v1. 3. Straightforward to play, without a ton of buttons, short cds and other gimmicks. That's it. Although I mostly do M+, I really don't care about top dps and crap in PVELOL. I can make the PVELOL work, I don't care, Blizzard always makes sure all specs are very close in performance in PVELOL. I don't worry about being invited to groups, I never get invited anyway, so I always run my own M+ groups. That being said, my lineup for TWW is Ret Paladin and MM Hunter. I'm not sure what I will play first, because I would much rather play MM Hunter, but I don't know if the PVP changes in TWW will help with NOT being rekt by pretty much everything in 1v1 like it happened in DF, and I really don't want to waste my time leveling and gearing it only to discover I still get walked all over in 1v1. So Ret Paladin is the safer choice, because Ret is always good at solo PVP, but I'm an Archer main at heart, so I would rather play MM. I started DF as MM Hunter and played it for the first 2 seasons until the Ret Paladin rework came out, at which point I rerolled Paladin because it's so much better at 1v1 than MM. Hopefully I won't have to play Paladin for yet another expansion because my favorite main is just bad at 1v1 PVP.

Hard choice, but Hpally or Prot Warrior looks fine 4 me. Really enjoy your Video and this Night Elf Warrior Artwork is absolute stunning. Can u tell me the Artist or Link it maybe..?
Man, I really want to play wow, but I'm a little afraid to go into this world and "suck" ...I'm afraid that I won't understand a lot of things and then I'll be "excluded" because I have the feeling that a lot of players are prejudiced like you should tackle a dungeon etc and if you don't do the perfect dps etc. you will be immediately flamed and kicked out of the group. I know not all players are biased but my feeling is alot of them are. I've tried Wow several times, but... it never really clicked for me, whether alone or with a few friends who wanted to show me the game. Should I still try it?
Last time I mained a rdps was WoD so im switching to mage. Arcane had that rework and i like what they did to frost. Fire for me is meh. Ive always sucked at it. But then if i get bored I can learn fire and break up what im doing.
i play only DPS, but i main MM and BM hunter for a long time, until i tasted the power or Affli/Demo/destro lock and lately im playing fury warrior and Spriest. so i have a lot of option to pick, im gonna give Warlock a try at the start and see how it goes, maybe if i found that is not fun i will swap to Spriest or MM
I would LOVE to play Fury warrior but it seems so bad on lists that I see. I think DK will be my pick. This is coming from a brand new player, I have yet to play retail. I have leveled a warrior in both classic era and Cata classic.
Sigh I'm I'm so indecisive, mounted combat in open world is cool + like DK lore but I'd like to also try healing and flying hammers/shields are fun, druid can shapeshift which is fun really like all the animals I can turn into but it feels hard class to do well with, same with shaman
Don't waste your time. Pick whatever you find interesting to play, nothing else matter. :) Fun is the most important part in a game or at least is should be.
The only part of this video that is weird to me is the solo/group. I guess my perception has always been that solo means solo and that is how I've played almost every MMO. Yes now and then I join guilds and then I do groups. So when I'm "solo" I don't care what player perception is and class choice comes down to something that can do the content I want to do... you know... solo.
Need easiest/least rotation, AOE is fun but NOT kiting, need a NON-leader/tank role… where I’m not too squishy and die every other mob. Usually play alone but would love to join in some dungeons/raids eventually.
I don't need to be Flavor of the Month, but it'd be nice if my spec (prot warrior) was viable this season. Last two seasons have been pretty shit, dominated by one spec Blizz wouldn't fucking nerf that everyone knew needed a nerf.
I love mages and people always say play what you love BUT! I can’t freaking play a mage without dying constantly. I don’t like kiting. It just feels wayyyy too squishy to me.
The main defference between mage and other classes is that mage has very little passive defense. All we have is the shield and CC. But in exchange we have very good CC talents in the base tree, +invisibility, slowfall, spellsteal and ice block

Mm hunter sounds interesting I hope it better than it was in df
@@stillsolo hey bro. i recently discovered ur channel. i just started playing wow again after like 5 years. and i watched a few fury warrior videos from you and realized ur UI looks different. i looked around for a bit and found out that its elvui. And now im wondering if you could share me ur elvui fury warrior UI so i can use it myself. Would apprecite it a lot
Holy Priest since '06. Never will change.
Ive been loving Rouge (maining sub) but I have a keen interest in monk, I really enjoyed both mage and warlock, heavily leaning into druid as well. Help. Also shaman looks really interesting....
I am waiting to save up for a computer, I have my heart set on a Pandaren Monk, my secondary is a Pandaren Hunter.
great pick!
The answer to all videos like this is, and always has been the same, play what you find fun.
I’ve been MM since vanilla.. I think imma go MM this xpac again
I wanted to go this way:
Outlaw - because pirat/piracy
Arcane - because flashy and quit easy now
Destro lock - fiiiiiiireeeeeee
MM - cuz my undead looks like Robin Hood with the new transmog from tww
I enjoyed this video
Thanks!
Great video.
Thank you so much for watching!
Im trying to decide between druid, shaman, and paly lol. More towards paly and druid for the tank/heal combo
I consider the mage spec you mentoned and balance druid since i had so much fun playing it in pvp in shadowlands
Both are great picks
Hard choice, but Hpally or Prot Warrior looks fine 4 me. Really enjoy your Video and this Night Elf Warrior Artwork is absolute stunning. Can u tell me the Artist or Link it maybe..?
That art was made by me with stable diffusion 😉
Arcane looks so good
Going Ret for the first time.
Imma just stick with dh. My lizard brain rewired itself to the movement, can't go back to silly grounded classes.
Playing what I've been playing since BC Ret Paladin! Where are my Sealadins at!?!?!
Rip ret aura :(
I miss my Ele shaman/Prot Warrior
i play only DPS, but i main MM and BM hunter for a long time, until i tasted the power or Affli/Demo/destro lock and lately im playing fury warrior and Spriest. so i have a lot of option to pick, im gonna give Warlock a try at the start and see how it goes, maybe if i found that is not fun i will swap to Spriest or MM
I would LOVE to play Fury warrior but it seems so bad on lists that I see. I think DK will be my pick. This is coming from a brand new player, I have yet to play retail. I have leveled a warrior in both classic era and Cata classic.
Fury is always going to be decent.
Pick what you want to play
Sigh I'm I'm so indecisive, mounted combat in open world is cool + like DK lore but I'd like to also try healing and flying hammers/shields are fun, druid can shapeshift which is fun really like all the animals I can turn into but it feels hard class to do well with, same with shaman
so many choices
:) narrowed it down to evoker and paladin XD
Which class do you like to play? Play that one.
Fury warrior for dps along with frost dk
Resto shammy and pala for heal
Too scary to tank xd
Solid choice
I don’t recommend picking flavour of the month - picks arcane mage :p.
No hate btw, I think I’m swapping mains to arcane :D
I made my choice before the damage numbers came out and was already going back to my mage.
@@stillsolo I have to admit I didn’t try arcane until I saw the numbers.. but wow it’s fun!!
As a feral, I just nodded. It's okay. I get it.
Odd question but where is your thumbnail art from
It's ai I made it
Don't waste your time. Pick whatever you find interesting to play, nothing else matter. :) Fun is the most important part in a game or at least is should be.
Where did you get the background in your thumbnail?!?!
I made it
@@stillsolo dude that’s some sick fan art! Well done. :) was trying to see if I could find it to have as a background!
I want to play resto druid but when I see something online about it is very negative in the beta or something…
play what you enjoy
My main is a subtlety rogue and my alt is a feral Druid 💀 perfect balance ig
BM and Survival ! 😀
Bm looks solid!
Hahahahaha loved when you did the goofy voice
☺️
All i want to do is play Frost DK and have fun. I love the theme but gameplay and balance of Frost DK has been terrible since forever 😡
Frost DK looks amazing in TWW, performance wise and its hero talents
@@oronbz It looked amazing before, but never been actually amazing
@@sjwhater well it seems now. Riders of apocalypse is super fun and spec seems to be one of the best in m+ beta.
@@armagedoc66 how is riders fun? They look cool but completely passive lol
@@sjwhater many of the hero talents are... or even worse like warrior having a series of blows skill but animation looks terrible.
Death knight...I will destroy the Litch king and become the ultimate necromancer 👏💡I liked this video yes!!!!👍😅
you were spamming devastator(passive ability) as action bar 1 at 7:01??
Yeah was the first time playing prot in like 7 months I realized it afterm you got me
The only part of this video that is weird to me is the solo/group. I guess my perception has always been that solo means solo and that is how I've played almost every MMO. Yes now and then I join guilds and then I do groups. So when I'm "solo" I don't care what player perception is and class choice comes down to something that can do the content I want to do... you know... solo.
Yeah I guess my point that I left out is if you are solo in general play what you enjoy 😉
I have chosen DK and Hunter
Great picks
Need easiest/least rotation, AOE is fun but NOT kiting, need a NON-leader/tank role… where I’m not too squishy and die every other mob. Usually play alone but would love to join in some dungeons/raids eventually.
Try hunter!
@@stillsolo which spec?
I play feral druid.😢
🐯
I thought Feral absolutely pumped in S4 with the tier bonus. It was a meter topper in the right hands. Might be solid in S1 of TWW too.
@@Electric_😂
@@Kujra you gotta have faith in the cat
@@Electric_ faith copium ran out need to restock
Is the mage and unholy death night easy to learn there rotion and spec?
Frost mage is pretty easy
Mage is always a safe pick.
Why was paladin tank off the list brother?
I'm unsure on it
How do you re roll ?
Create a new character
Prob ele shaman and frost mage monk is the last option my dps pref
ele looks siiick
What if im a casual player but i still want gooood gear? 😅
It's definitely possible to get good gear as a casual player with the right strategies!
whats elemental shamans like in tww always been a fan of the class animations.
Insane, i am actually going to main ele.
Ele is very good now. And they were good all patches in dragonflight to be honest.
"At some point your spec will be good." as an affliction lock player...... my day will come before the servers shut down you will see.
My friend is playing aff too
Punched my desk when he said "sorry Feral Druid" :(
Oof
Windwalker monk and dk blood/frost
survival hunter
caus i love melee but i also like hunter pets and stuff so i was gonna main dk but i have seens wod so it has gotten a bit boring
Bold pick!
