I contrast that with Alex VanHalen, who talked to me like a human for 3 hours while his wife complained about the seating arrangements. Alex was asking ME questions. Really a nice guy. He really could put away the booze though. You'd have had to carry me off the plane. I was in SLC UT during the 5150 tour and sitting on the stage steps as Eddie played that now famous solo. I was 10-15' away and could feel the spot. I wanted to shake his hand, he was amazing. Played with such joy. What a loss.

Roth thought he was bigger than Van Halen. Roth was larger than life and what the 80's was all about. He got old and went too far, now more like a clown craving attention. He thinks he is funny but isn't.
Dave just embarrasses himself now...he missed the "bow out gracefully" boat a while ago...and wow, here come all the fanboys. Why can't any of you just admit that his antics and desire to stay relevant, just makes him look really bad now? Ever heard any of his recent interviews? Dude sounds like a mental patient!
I was listening to a a '78 bootleg today and even back then he couldn't just "shut is f'n mouth, he kept yelling Eddie Van Halen after Eruption so many times I think I know how and why EVH had a problem with booze and drugs. Because if he didn't I think he'd have snapped much earlier then he did when they finally showed him the door.
I had the good fortune to see the MIGHTY VH in 1984 at the L.A Forum. IT was on Mother's day so I took my Mom.we were 5 rows from the stage on Eddie's side.My second concert
many old rock stars rock stars do not want to give up, but there comes a time to call it quits. Even I who am a not important person, has a hard time giving up. It is time,
It's ridiculous Keith and Mick continue to tour, the Stones had their days. Seriously, who wants to see two 80 year olds (especially Mick out there shaking his skinny old ass, doing his lame "rooster strut"). Wtf? At least "Father Time" finally caught up with Steven Tyler, and Aerosmith is finally done. These oldsters surely don't need the money, just more adulation, that it appears they still can't quite get enough of. I'm a musician in my 70's, and certainly don't need to relive the 70's, 80's, 90's... those days are LONG over.
Saw him live in 1988 touring for his second album. One of the best live concerts I have seen - he put on a real *show*
Me too
Harsh! My brother and I saw Diamond Dave in Adelaide when he toured (think it was the 80's). Not forgotten. Xx
2 words, people age.
Getting older takes its toll on us all...eventually...
This is dumb Roth was very successful but everything & everyone gets older thats all things change & people get older hes extremely wealthy and a was a big success but people get older thats it 😮 this is just sensationalizim😊
🥃👴🏻 SOOO HOW OLD IS U?
@@paulyricca3881I'm 57 Saw em in Seattle 84" it's funny to me cause everything gets old & outa date, it's like somone narating my life saying yea he got old & didn't succeed at living forever, & then TMZ gets involved puts out a video show talkin bout the rise & fall of Randall & how I couldn't beat old age 🤣 like that's hilarious 😂 to me
@@paulyricca3881 are u lonely, kid?
he didn't see Grunge coming. I don't think the other bands did.
No one saw grunge coming. It made many stars of the 80s seem irrelevant almost overnight, much as punk had done in the 70s to stars of the early 70s.
If he's still alive and he's got some money; he did alright.
His net worth is 150 million
There's a lot of misinformation in the first three minutes of this video. 1984 was released in December 1983 but more importantly, DLR was not the one making decisions in the band. Anyone who has followed the band knows that it was Alex and Edward who controlled everything. If you don't believe me, just read the book by their long-time manager, Noel Monk.
Roth was unstoppable
...which is why we are showing photos of Beck, Neil Young, and Mark Wahlberg.
It's better to go out on top and not be remembered as a failure. Some of these guys just don't get it.
Let the man grow old,we all get to the end of days
Worse than meh. Referring to the “author” here, not Dave. I clicked on the link just to see how lame this video could be. And it exceeds all expectations. You suck. Hard.
We all get old.
The greatest frontman of all time... Thanks for the music and the memories.. Its been one hell of a ride.
No band can last forever. The best they can do is roll through the decades trying to stay relevant in an everchanging world.
you can live in your hay day for ever. take what you did and enjoy what you did on your couch and be thankful that you got a hay day. Grace Slick once said " those days are over"
What really happen is what happens to everyone. Hopefully without some scandalous TH-cam video stalking you for dimes with a minimal effort low IQ AI video.
He got old, and tranformed into a parody of himself- and also brings to mind the nerd like comedy of Steve Martin, whom David now resembles more than his old-self...
So maybe I could have him play my 60th birthday party! 😂
He is still my Favorite front man and I'll never stop the love.
Hey that's Neil Young at 16:20, not DLR!
This is stupid post, he just got old just like you will.. everyone gets old and fades away.
I will take it back if I say anything wrong about David Roth. Now, I compare him to James Brown, one of the hardest-working men in the business of rock and roll.
He got old
Let's face it, 8 YEARS is the "sweet-spot" for any successful band; Sabbath, Eagles, Steely Dan, etc, all called-it-quits after 8 successful years. Dave is no exception
Your not 19 forever.
Van Halen were awesome and David Lee Roth was a great Rock and Roller i saw them in the beginning and later on will always remember how great they were but time goes by and waits for no one we all get old Van Halen forever
In the mid-90's I was somehow put in first class and as I sat down DLR was right friggen next to me. I was stunned. I loved old VanHalen and couldn't wait to talk to him. I never got the chance. That dude was in a world all his own. Hustling the stewardesses was the only thing on the agenda and making a fool of himself. We never exchanged a single word.
We all get old. I just came to see how much you would conflate that. The times they are a changin.
Not a fan of these AI voice vids
Me either espescially when they pronounce names and words wrong. Lol.....just like I just mispelled a word and had to edit it 😂
