i grow acre and a half, i dont have helpers like this maybe 4 of us harvesting it all, i just snip the plants off right away and put the bulbs 1-2 layers thick into drying crates taht are small, slap em in a drying shed with dehumidifier and big fans, they dry real nice no mold takes 2 weeks, saves alot of time and space and garlic still lasts many months
how do you get volunteers for free? We would like to try that. Don't worry I don't think we are in your area, so there is no competition, our Fourth of July is on July 1.
awesome video thanks for sharing, we are thinking of growing some Garlic next year. How much demand is there and how easy is it to sell locally, and what variety would you recommend for a commercial operation. Regards
Our variety is Music. There's pretty good demand for local garlic in our area, but we are a CSA only so all of it goes to our customers who prepay for their shares, so I never try to market it individually.
We carry them to the barn in either wheeled harvest carts or macro bins, some folks stand on ladders and others hand them up to them. The people on the ladders spread the bulbs a bit and plop them over the wire.
Wow. 7000 plants harvested by hand. Love it. You are truly Blessed. 👍❤️
Wow very nice

I am really amazed after 6mos how clean that crop is. Is that herbicide or steel?
No herbicide, we grow organically, although we are not certified. Tractor cultivation in combination with hand hoes and hand weeding if necessary.
That looks great! I am considering starting a small garlic farm from scratch myself. Do you have any problems with marketing all your garlic ever?
We are a CSA so all of our garlic goes to our members in their shares. Good luck in your new endeavor!
7000 bulbs, that is amazing! How many lbs does that turn out to be in harvest?
About 700 pounds

Thanks. ✌
if you showed how you got all that garlic up there in the rafters and strings that would have been nice.
