Very cool! Grew up on the east side of Bakersfield and went to school with these fine men. Thank you for being so respectful and compassionate to the people you met and worked with in Oildale. It's a hard place, and people live hard lives there.

I lived in Gilroy, CA for about 3 years, doing the rurals/prepper thing. There's a street there called Korn and I always wanted to put a backwards R on the sign. I wonder how the little street got named Korn?

Oildale is one small part of Bakersfield. It does however have a very rich history. Yes, there are a lot of drugs and babies and people doing what they have to do to get what they think they need. Southwest Bakersfield is a few miles from Oildale. It looks different, but the mentality is pretty much the same. The town is a drinkers town. It's full of blue collar, hard working people who love a good drink after a good days work. Not until one leaves Bakersfield do they understand just how different it really is.
