I just got a new rice cooker similar to the one you have. I used the rice cup to add water and its the perfect amount. I did 2 cups and a bit more of water. Rice came out perfectly. I want to try some other things in mine. Rice pudding is next.

Thanks for the review, I bought the Yum Asia Tsuki and also noticed light browning on the bottom. Did you find a way for that to not happen?
I thought its because of the thick and heavy clay pot of the Tsuki which retains more heat but the Sakura has a normal pot.

I found experimenting with the amount of water helped. Try adding a bit more water and see how that goes

Thanks, I noticed that washing the rice really well helps. The starch is responsible for the crust.

Thank you so much. Did you add any salt and spices?

To this taste test I just put a little salt and it was great, really fluffy and not over done. I normally put in it things like soy sauce, salt, garlic, onion, even coconut milk instead of the water. It's a great machine.

Thanks Paula (so nice to see another Paula) I wanted to know if the rice cooker was worth spending on a decent rice cooker

Thanks for the demo. I was so silly I actually put the rice inside the rinsing tray and wondered why it didn’t cook on top. I decided to get one because when I researched the subject there were lots of professional chefs who use them because they know they can use it and forget it and get on with other jobs. I have used mine lots for steaming veg on top as well.

Great review, thanks for posting. I must say, 40 minutes to cook 2 small cups of long grain rice seems a little odd, I would have expected less than half that time. BTW, the bowl isn't ceramic, it's ceramic coated metal.
I just ordered mine from Amazon so I look forward to having some kind of rice meal for my xmas dinner.

That’s the typical time for rice cookers like this. It also includes the resting time. Where as others may have a 30 minute cook time but then you need to let it rest for ten minutes or so.
There are quicker cycles on it too.

Yes, since owning my rice cooker I now see that letting it sit a while once cooked does indeed improve the texture.@@LifeWithMrsB

I paid £124 but it’s not that price any more,it is slightly more expensive.
If you just type in ‘yum Asia rice cooker’ it’s in the first few results :)

shame it has a non-stick bowl possibly Teflon if so you don't want that anywhere near your food. looking for stainless steel but thanks for your review :)

Yumasia's bowls are have a ceramic layer instead of teflon. They also sell the bowls separately, which I don't see often.
