Great video you explained a lot in a very short time. I was just wondering did the fans work at all when you first started to work on the rig, is the power supply fan supposed to continually run when you switch on the unit or is there some kind of thermocouple that senses when the heat sink gets to a certain temperature before the fan turns on thanks again for the great video,
Hi, yes both worked but only when either side was too hot already with some kind of temperature sensing. I used the radio today and made few QSOs. The PSU side is cool to the touch, not warm at all. The PA side is a little lukewarm. The fans don't make any noise since they don't run at full speed. 73

Hi, I have recently come into possession of this same radio. I don't know anything about this world but I'd like to start using it to listen. I searched around a bit but I find it a bit complicated for a newbie like me. I wanted to ask if you could help me out with a video or even just a comment response what I may need. What equipment, what kind of antenna to get, how to use it, what else is needed etc... You would be really helpful, the radio belonged to my grandfather but unfortunately he hasn't been able to use it for many years. Thanks and greetings from Italy.
Hi Carcarlo, I suggest to do not turn it on until you familiarize with the unit and the controls. It is very easy to damage the final power stage of the transmitter without an antenna connected to the radio, if you transmit by accident. Great video !!! I have bought a TS -930 S in good conditions. It has new fans with external voltage. It works but there is very weak reception. I want to use it at the moment as a receiver. Do you have an idea ? I have found many infromation and habe downloaded the service manual from the web.
I'm glad you liked the video. I love receiving with this radio, is has a great audio. Apologies for stating the obvious but have you checked the RF ATT setting to be in 0 (zero) ? Is your RF knob all the way clockwise? Do you have auto-tuner unit installed? is any difference with or without the tuner? have you discarded the antenna connectors and cables? 73
@@VA3HDL Thank you for the detailed answer, Paulo. I have now established that the tuner is not working, which means that the motors are not tuning. There seems to be reception, but it is very, very quiet and noisy. All controls work. Will probably be an error in the tuner. The mootren could not be controlled, my power supply is probably not enough for that, a pity. I'll have to search harder. I'm grateful for every tip. 73 Dieters
@@djwatermusic It could be the gears are dry and need some lubrication. I did use a very light oil to lubricate the main gears of the tuner. You can try to turn them manually to see if they are stuck while adding some lubricant.
Si se puede. Lo he hecho con este equipo aunque no lo he demostrado en el video. Necesitas solamente una interface de audio y PTT. Yo construi mi propia interface pero hay muchos modelos comerciales. La unica consideracion es que este equipo no soporta CAT, asi que el cambio de frecuencias, modos, bandas, etc. debe hacerse a mano. 73
@@RTS-lk5tq Creo que el mas popular de todos es el Tigertronics Signalink, funciona practicamente con cualquier equipo de radio. Algo mas moderno del mismo estilo es el Digirig Mobile. 73

Otra pregunta,se puede conectar la ts930s al pc para hacer ft8? Y si fuera posible, que me hace falta?
Si se puede. Lo he hecho con este equipo aunque no lo he demostrado en el video. Necesitas solamente una interface de audio y PTT. Yo construi mi propia interface pero hay muchos modelos comerciales.
