    By far the best bang for your buck at the moment is the base spec Deck and then stick a 512gig NVMe in it. In the UK the 64gb version is £350. Thats insane value for money, in fact I suspect at that sort of price its break even for Valve. Given 20% of that 350 is tax!!! I also think that the massive steam ecosystem that sits behind the deck is a money cant buy feature. Its taken steam / valve years to get to this point. All other platforms are going to be behind the curve. The only chance of true competition in this regard is from Sony or MS. The progress in technology is amazing for hand helds. I have been into gaming for 35 years. You only have to look back 10 years and this sort of system would just have been impossible. I think as soon as battery tech improves consoles are going to be in trouble.

      I get that people think these handhelds only started coming out after the Deck was released but that is incorrect. The GPD Win could crawl so the others can run. The Deck is a powerhouse but look at it this way would you only want one PC option, like what if you could only get an HP. These systems give us choice and it is that choice that Valve wants.

    • @khoang6014
      @khoang6014 ปีที่แล้ว

      Valve actually doesn’t care if there are companies produce better handhelds than theirs, they even welcome all those companies to join and give all the support with their SteamOS, which they are doing with GPD. IMO, In near future the deck might fall behind since Valve earn nothing from selling them, just an added value product only. 2023 is gonna be an awesome year for handheld devices, I’m so excited 😆

    yeah this runs better than the steam deck. i completed outerworlds at medium settings mix with low and at the native res, sometime having to scale down some settings even more just to maintain above 40fps.

      @averylargeobject  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I love this thing a lot but at the price I would go to the AYANEO IGG and pick up one of those. They also have better software.

    Now in my country the 512gb deck has similar price to aokzoe A1L 16gb/512gb, but of course a 64gb deck with 512gb upgrade would be much cheaper (170-200$ cheaper) but I still think Aokzoe A1L is better (just sold my deck to get Aokzoe 😆). It is the cheapest 6800U handheld atm. Of course the deck is still superior with full support from Valve, no doubt.

    • @averylargeobject
      @averylargeobject  ปีที่แล้ว

      I heard that is the case. I personally think the A1 is the better device to play on, knowing that games will run on it without issue makes it a no brainer recommendation for friends that are not as tech inclined. Sure proton is getting better, but it isn’t there yet

    Can I keep both Handheld Companion and the Aokzoe Software installed at the same time or do I have to delete one in order to use the other? I don't play online so COD MWII wouldn't be an issue for me.

    • @averylargeobject
      @averylargeobject  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use both however, when it comes to TDP control Handheld Companion has a larger range of TDPs it can use. I don’t think you will have many issues with both but I would try running one instead of the other. I would try the AOKZOE software first and if that works well enough for you then you should be golden, however if you want to get more power from your system Handheld Companion would allow you to go above the 28W limit and is a little more flexible.

    Nothing can beat the steam deck at that price point . Plus valve has steam to rely on . All those 3th party "steam decks" killers can't compete.

    • @averylargeobject
      @averylargeobject  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      At first it was nothing could beat the decks performance, now that hurdle is passed. I agree nothing beats the Deck at 400 dollars but at the higher end SKUs, devices like the AYANEO GEEK is only 100 bucks more for way more power.

    • @ALISHAPLAY10

      @@averylargeobject the price speaks volumes when it comes to pretty much anything. Specially nowadays. Let's not forget we are talking about portable devices and we have to be realistic in what to expect for performance. I find it that valve found the sweet spot where to keep things affordable and at the same time having a good enough performance in games .
      Therefore steam deck is the king of handhelds.

    Unless the device has a dedicated software store with support for both the device and the software, it will not and cannot 'kill' the Steam Deck. It also looks really cheap. And smaller, and cost more.
    If this was designed to compete with the Steam Deck in the US market, it is a FAIL.
    AND OMG, it runs Windows... The a major part of the appeal of the Steam Deck is the open source, open platform concept. This is the same restrictive platform we have been using for decades.

    • @averylargeobject
      @averylargeobject  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Does HP have it’s own software store? How about Dell? Imagine if everyone only bought one type of PC. Valve wants competition in this space they introduced the Deck as a reference point. You can install HoloISO on the A1 just like you can install Windows on the Deck. If you honestly think Valve wants the Deck to stand alone, you are missing the point. These X86 handhelds have been out before the Deck was being worked on, they walk so the Deck and other RDNA2 devices can run. You are acting no better than Sony or MS fanatics.
