This turned out sooo CUTE I wish you could put pictures in YT comments. I wanted this to fit more like XS so my foundation row was 51 instead and I could’ve gone even smaller. I did the same row count as the video and my sleeves were 26 rows long.
Normalize putting your size and stitch count in the comments so I can make my friends gifts 😂

I wear a M/L and my stitch count for the foundation chain was 87 stitches! My bust is 40" so I wanted to make sure it was large enough for a comfy, not tight, fit :)

I found out why some of you might experience that the sleeves are increasingly getting wider as you go:
When you do the first round of chain 5s around the armhole, the last one should go directly into the first chain 5 space. So if you need 14 chain 5 spaces around your armhole, then you need to do the first 13 and then the 14th need to go directly into the first chain 5 space you made, basically becoming the 1st chain 5 space of the next row.
If you "finish" the first row with all 14 chain 5 spaces and THEN chain 5 into the first stitch, you are essentially adding an additional chain 5 space and that will result in an extra chain 5 space being added every round, resulting in a widening sleeve. Hope this helped, sorry if it's a bit confusing.

Making this right now in black and am already so in love 😍I did just want to note something about the dimensions, though; I just have finished the front and back panel, and they're definitely both a bit wide. I think it might be because I took half my bust measurement and have kind of a large chest- if someone else is reading this and also has a larger bust measurement, consider measuring your overbust instead and taking half of that measurement when figuring how how wide to make the front and back panels.
For example, my bust measurement is 38 inches, meaning that I made each panel 20 inches wide (adding a little space for comfort). It was definitely way too wide for me when I tried it on; when I took my *overbust* measurement, I got 34 inches, meaning each panel would instead be about 17 inches (before adding some room) wide. It might not matter for you if your overbust and bust measurement don't have a significant difference, but it mattered for me and might help others, too.

this is really fun to do and truly a beginner friendly tutorial, easy to follow! i've never committed to complete my project, but i'm confident i can do this one. have done my front panel, on my way to back panel and the sleeves, i'll be back once i'm done!
edit: struggled a lot at making the collar, had to skip 1ch every 3 stitches because mine was too big, almost like an off shoulder lmao but managed to save it, two sleeves to go until i'm done!
i'm an L btw, so i have 81 foundation stitches, 8+8 rows front, and 11+5 rows at back, and i used chunky 8ply milk yarn so it's very cute and fluffy, wanna try making it with less chunky like 4ply later after i finish this one! 🥺

Thank you, plan on doing this up for my granddaughter. Regarding some comments about accidentally increasing stitch counts, I alway use a stitch marker in my first & last stitches, for any crochet project. Keeps me on track, neater projects that are true to patterns. Sometimes the row-ends can be confusing, what with turns & chains, so the markers eliminate any confusion about into where I should be poking that hook !

@@melleni I think if I were u I would keep going with the 4 mm hook for the sleeves as as long as they aren’t too big it should be fine.. i noticed that when starting the sleeves it naturally billows out a bit but after a few rows it starts to even out, it also helped me to stretch it long after every couple rows to help it have the right shape. If your sleeves are too bulky using the 4 mm hook you could try sizing down to 3.5 or 3 but just try it on and make sure it’s fitting right if you do!

has anyone tried this with crocheting 5 at the end of a row instead of 8? technically 8 stitches would make up the other half of the diamond shaped that we’re making, whereas 5 would cut it in half and lead to a straight edge (since 3 chains make a flat edge)
i’m making a sweater out of this so it’s already 24 inches long so it’s too late for me to go back and change it now that i’ve realised what makes more sense but it would be interesting to know how it turned out if anyone did 5 instead of 8 at the end of the chain

I've made it with 5 at the end instead of 8 and I prefer it, kinda gives a bit of a seam on the side and looks a bit neater to me

i ended up pulling out all of my stitches 🥲 i’m gonna try making this fishnet jumper again another time w 5 at the end at some point instead - the perfectionist in me can’t stand the edges being not-straight (but i think w how i want to put the panels together it would actually cause issues anyways)

my bust is 34 inches and I've undone the thing several times yet i dont know what exactly I'm doing wrong
I'm using a 4.5 mm crochet hook and size 4 yarn and my yarn is stretchy
please let me know cuz I've undone it like 3 times now and it's so frustrating 😭😭

When u measure do u pull the yarn as far as it can go? Because u said it's stretchy. If u do don't stretch the yarn measure it to without pulling or stretching it. The top isn't meant to be really tight just snug

For the second shoulder of the front panel when u add the new string, 17:18, u say ur going to put it through the single chain before the first five stitches, do you mean the single crochet between that last chain three and chain five?

    • @cutiekittystudio

It does sit a little loose above my bust, but if you want it to be tighter in that area for sure just do 40 inches especially if you use a stretchy yarn

    • @lavenderrainbow5041
      @lavenderrainbow5041 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

She included this information in her Google doc - docs.google.com/document/d/10G4cWwk1e0drKZN81B0B-_4C3szY2PigA-OXgIZOv94/edit
The measurement is just the length around your armpit around the top of your shoulder - the arm hole. You can measure a well fitting top that you have to get this measurement as well. Just remember that 1/2 of this measurement is used for the front panel & 1/2 for the back. Ex: If this measurement = 18 inches, divide by 2 = 9 inches. Therefore you would crochet however many rows until you get 9 inches tall for the shoulder part. I hope that this helped :)))

Hey can you help me understand the measurements thing at 14:35? We're supposed to add as many rows as is half of our arm circumference? So if my bicep is 15 inches, I want 7.5 inches whereas you did 5 inches? Am I getting that right?
