- How to select the Correct Necklace Length for a Woman. Everyone woman’s body shape is different and this video shows how height and weight affects where a necklace would lay on a woman. This video will show you how to select the perfect necklace for a full figured woman. We recommend selected something that is a size 18”, 20” or adjustable as there body shapes will require something a bit longer. This video will show you how to select the perfect necklace for an average woman. Mandi shown on the far right can wear any length of necklace because it will fit. When selected a necklace or chain for someone first consider body size and then consider what you see the person wearing in terms of rounded necklaces, V necklines or high neckline. This is helpful, but those lengths fall longer on me. I’m 5’4”/139 lbs and a16” falls where an 18” falls on the models. In fact, the 18” is just a little too long for me to wear with open collars. The bottom of the chain especially with a pendant on just sits right under the top or blouse.

Thanks for sharing your detailed info to help others. Everyone's body type is so different which makes their neck size different. Also what you feel comfortable in needs to be considered as well. Some people don't care for chains tight against their neck.

HI Wade, Great question, chains like a link chain, a rope chain, a anchor chain are great chains to wear all the time because they don't kink. Chains like Herringbones, Snakes are chains that would kink if you wear them while sleeping in bed. Are all 22 inches chains adjustable?
No they are not. Adjustable chains are newer on the market, about 5-8 years old. 22" long is not a common length but if you google it you should be able to find some in that length or you might find a company that can custom cut you a chain that long. I saw a necklace on ebay that I was thinking about purchasing. He measured it with a tape measure and it says 9 inches. I'm thinking that the 9 is not in inches. The other side says 23. How can a necklace be 9 inches when bracelets are 7 to 8 inches? The chain looks pretty long so I came here to see if I could find some kind of clarification. What are your thoughts?
