Why is the Joker still a problem when Superman can hear his laugh from across the planet, and the flash is fast enough to patrol every square inch of the world in the time it takes a neuron to flash?
How is Clark Kent able to find time to be him, when he can hear someone being raped on the other side of the world, and can be there and back before his clothes even fall to the ground?
The constant power escalations have left us in a weird point where our heroes can't be humans who strive to do good, because there's so much good to be done at all times that they're capable of that they have to become machines.
In this 15 minute break one of several options had to have happened.
      1. Nothing bad happened anywhere that there wasn't a super there to handle it. No one even fell off a roof and screamed. The world is peaceful, safe, and quiet.
      2. He is willingly letting awful things happen to have a lunch break.

Some of the best story arcs in Superman comics reflect this. Like in Kingdom Come when in grief he's destroying the UN building and reminded that what's important is he's a man and it snaps him out of it. Or at his "funeral" in the animated JL episode when Martian Manhunter gives the eulogy that ends, "Kal El, the visitor from the stars that taught us what it means to be human." At its heart the story of Superman is supposed to be about inspiration. When its just about power (like the Snyder verse version) its not as good. The recent CW show really did this right, especially in the final season.

But instead of just grabbing her and bringing her down, he hangs out with her all day and night just talking until she's ready to come down on her own. Also, the one where he rescues an abused little boy from his father is great. The best depictions of Superman are the ones that make it abundantly clear how much his upbringing made him the kindhearted person Metro City knows him to be. Being raised on a farm, away from a bustling city with two kind and loving parents who instilled in him a strong sense of morality and empathetic justice. His powers are great, but his heart is greater.

That’s the best Superman moments. The ones that show him as a guy on the job. A guy who genuinely cares about the people he saves, even when it’s the ones he saved from themselves.
Batman can’t relate to the thugs. Not even if he wanted to. Too much trauma. But that’s what makes Superman and Batman perfect friends: a savior to redeem you and an avenger to make you repent if you fail.
Two sides of Justice: compassion and punishment. The only thing Justice can be.

Superman helping others when they're down always reminds you just how pure of heart he is. Even if he locked this guy up once, he saw that he could change for the better. This honestly is a similar situation to what The Flash does. Instead of beating you senseless, he talks to you, letting you know that you can be a better person. That's what Heros are meant to be. People that help others change the way people are for the better.

LOVE THIS type of storytelling of Superman. This is why he is the embodiment of Hope. The Father is no superhero but through Superman's eyes he conveys how not even Superman can be the dad his child needs since he has unique life experiences that Superman doesn't. Think about how that would make you feel if you were that dad.
