The most beautiful decorated cake i had ever seen, was done by outlining the shapes of flowers with chocolate lines that hardened. Inside the lines were filled with different jams that was heated in different little boilers, maybe sugar was added, i don't remember. The leaves were done with green pepper jelly. These jams were put into the centers of the outlined flowers. When finished it looked like a stain glassed window. Best way to describe i guess, was the flowers were drawn with chocolate, then colored in with the jams. The bouquet was of Spring flowers, because it wss done for Easter. Oh by the way, the icing that covered the cake was a white icing. To draw the flowers, a cake tip used for writing was used.
It's misspelled as pudding on both the TH-cam title and on the French Chef Wikipedia page. Its correctly spelled as pouding on the actual French Chef video from May 12, 1971.
Anyone hear the sound of that female crew person laughing when Julia made the comment on giving the left over cake for your husband for his 1st dessert.
As someone with a minimum of experience in cooking, I can tell you this.... Boiling or extremely hot sugar is against the Geneva Convention. They banned napalm, after all. ;-) Whatever you do just be EXTREMELY careful whenever cooking with sugar syrups because that stuff is deceptively nasty to get off your skin.
It’s quite hard to get ahold of if you’re in the States. In Julia’s day it was fashionable, so it was easy to get. Nowadays you’ll need to go to either a very nice liquor store or a European food supplier.
@Thejohnwhitberg I am not in the USA and the local liquor store is well know for carrying a lot of rare products. If they don't have it they can order it is I am willing to pay for a whole case.
A WHISPER of rum from Julia 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 would drop an elephant

I'll allow it.
Yeah I noticed that too, she even spells it out. But it makes more sense for people searching for this video, to have it spelled like it is.
Yes! She's using the French word, and it ought to be spelt accordingly
She makes me happy

I found a store at Les Halles de Paul Bocuse in Lyon that sells glaceed fruit...they are becoming harder to find these days.

Ça s'appelle un "diplomate" en Français, le gâteau dedans c'est de la brioche, et c'est servi avec de la crème anglaise. ❤
I want to find some kirsch now. I love cherries I can't wait to find out how it tastes
