Her most poetic episode. I always struggle with Julia's immense and endearing personality, and that poor lobster extending its claw in the first few minutes.

From what I remember from culinary school, the bigger the lobster gets, the less sweet and more fishy the meat tastes, so it’s one reason why restaurants try to keep them between 1-3 pounds.
I was reading the book “measuring up” and I saw that cici was watching Julia child and I was like “is that a real show?” And I searched it up on TH-cam and it shows up and now I subscribe. by the way measuring up is a good book
omg, seeing that huge lobster reminds you of how bountiful nature is. it provides more than you could ever need. I'm not calling the cage compartments the living room and bedroom. Hmpf, if she didn't drain out the blood, wonder where it is? It wasn't so messy and bloody. Thank you very much for sharing how to break the lobster down, party by part to eat it. As with most things, it seems more complicated than it actually is and when Julia showed how to cook and eat this lobster, it was not very complicated at all and I feel confident in doing it myself :)
Even a 2 or 2.5 lb lobster is pretty hard to break open. A 20 lb lobster should not be eaten. I’m not sure how many are left, but there’s no need to disturb them.
After the fish evisceration from last week and the lobster genocide this week, this channel is going to get age restricted by the snowflake youtube mods 😂😂😂😂😂
This is the final episode of Season 8 (June 27, 1971). Only 2 more seasons of "The French Chef" to go.
The part when she compared the cooked lobster to the uncooked one. « This is what you’re about to look like buddy?! » 😂

The crusher claw on that giant lobster could snap an axle shaft in half.
Would love to have the sizes and prices back then.
but you wouldve earned less than today
@ Thanks Captain Obvious. Any other insightful messages you wish to share?

I'd LOVE to know what that gigantic lobster tastes like - I've never seen such a huge lobster in my entire life - and I've seen PLENTY!

Really would liked to have seen Bertha dissected - oh well. I always heard the larger the lobster, the more tough it was.

@@jessrow1275 Yes, and if I remember correctly, they can age up to something like 100 years in age too.
Amazing to think lobster was once regarded as trash food and available for almost nothing.
That gigantic lobster is something! Completely 100% illegal today but good grief would I have loved to see THAT on a plate!

Im pretty sure catching and keeping lobsters that big is illegal these days, unfortunately 🦞
I believe you are correct. The big ones lay the most eggs.
