Absolutely. I have made it as per this recipe but without any milk, used just water and it came out great. Just added a teaspoon of extra ghee to make for it - but maybe i didn't really need it...

Its milk that has been split by adding lemon or vinegar to hot milk, then it is strained in a muslin cloth and rinsed in cool water and hung up to drip in the muslin, what remains is the milk solids which he used. If this is difficult for you can try using dry milk powder

Namaskaar , Sat Sri Akaal , Salaam Vah Chef! I have a quick question can i follow this recipe using cream (american half-n-half not malai) instead of milk?
put 1/2 cup cream and 1 cup of milk powder in a frying pan and cook on medium heat. String continuously until mixture comes together and looks like soft dough. thats the way u can make khoya at home
Your recipe is easy to follow as you give the measurement in cups. Why does my carrot halwa turn black and not orange white like yours, that is always the problem I have.
Dear VahChef, Thank you very much for posting the recipes. The best part of your videos is that you make the most complex dishes look easy. I am a novice in cooking. To surprise my wife on anniversary, I wanted to cook carrot halwa and I blindly followed each and every step mentioned in your video. Believe it or not, it was the best dish I had ever cooked. Thank again!!
Sir your Carrot Halwa was excellent. Sir i wanted to know how much is 4 cups of carrots equivalent to how many grams please. Thank you. God bless you and your family and your careers
thank u soo much for this video vahchef, i followed the directions and it cam out well, i only made a small change that is instead of Koya i added condense milk..
Hello Chef. you are doing good job really. Since I'm staying alone in USA, I learned the cooking by watching your all stuffs. great job buddy. keep going.. Thanks once again for your efforts.
you can also make khoya by heating 1tbs of ghee with 2 tbs of milk, adding it in 1 1/2 cup milk powder, mix it well: use hands if you are more comfortable it. This will take you about 3-4 mins and u get the exact same result hehe :D
'There are so many people out there who don't want to encourage people like 'Vahchef' one thing I want to congratulate you brother. your one of the best Inspirations for many people staying outside India, who came for a living and doesn't matter who Agree it or not. Brother your the best. thank you so much for the wonderful cooking tips you show to encourage millions of people like us. thanks for the recipe
So basically for the milk to turn to littile chunks like cheese you just add little lemon juice and the milk breaks in to little forms so i can i put that insteadof koya i dint don't think they have koya in Bangladesh
thank u so much chef for making all the toughest recipes easy...n ur cooking methods r always like Bible for the beginners....u r inspiring us to cook...
Binny, you can make 'khoya' from reducing whole milk on low heat until it reaches a semi-solid consistency, and resembles a paste. Once this paste cools down, it will solidify, and this is called 'Khoya'/'mawa'. 'Ghee', on the other hand, is a little harder to make :)
Sanjay sir m so much inspired by all your vedios n the best part that pulls me to view is the way u taste it at the end it's like so tempting to prepare..😀 great cooking sir congrats
