Not only did his version have several typos and a grammatical error, but he exaggerated my duties and work experience by a large margin. I'm only a supervisor and he said i was trained as an assistant manager. I tried to be nice and say that his version of the resume was cool, but will likely only be used for future reference. He got so mad that we haven't spoke since.

The bar is low to be respectable, it goes a bit higher as a black man, true. BUT it does so because we hardly ever have actual stepping stones. Your son has one. The only thing he has to do is keep his head on straight, you're already doing your part. I've had to teach myself what a man is and reconstruct from all the failures and successes I've witnessed in life. I grew up poor, hardly a stepping stone. But I'm here, so I'd consider that a success in and of itself. We do have to cherish the growth however small it might seem.
