Nobody talking about the drummer? Not an incredibly hard song to play. But it's hard to keep the slow tempo going perfectly like that. His fills were on point and very tasteful. It's not overplayed at all. Very impressive.
Ryan D matt never gets credit hes due. And as much as i hate to say it pj wastes him. As they do mccready. Thankfully at least mike gets to unleash live
The drummers on these videos are ALWAYS the most talented. I mean, the time is really in their hands after all. Watch the Schism Tool cover. The best cover the School has released to date. They should've had the kids that sang that song, sing this one. They're incredible.
@@gorehammer42o I was coming here to say exactly that - they must train their drummers really well, all the vids from SoR I have seen feature a drummer who's right in the pocket, delivers flawlessly. Mad props to them!
Her problem is that she is singing the low male part which is too low for a female voice. I don’t know why the guy wasn’t singing that part? There are certain low frequencies in the male range that most female just can’t hit, so she actually did well to hit those notes at all, but like most women, she had no power or strength at that low of a register. She struggled to hold the sustained notes steady. Her modulation was all over the place, but that is to be expected at that low of a frequency. Chris is well known for his high range, but most people don’t realize how low his range also went, which proves just how wide his range was. This particular song showed how well developed his lower register was. She should have either pitched this up an octave or not sang it at all. That guy was easily hitting the higher notes in the song, so he could have easily handled the lower stuff. The vocalist selection is a weird one for sure. I think if she would ah e pitched it up an octave it would have completely ruined the mood of the song. I guess it is what it is?
Tough to get Chris Cornell's sound out of some high schoolers.. tougher still from a girl. It just wasn't the same, but the backup kid was right there perfect.
I agree that the guy doing the background vocals nailed it really well, and the whole band did an excellent job, but I have to say that the young lady doing the vocals here? I was really impressed with her. I hope she goes a long way with whatever she tries to do, she has an impressive voice.
She hit the notes well enough. I wouldn’t say she nailed it though. This is a song that is meant to be sung by a baritone, and female vocal chords simply do not emulate the proper tonality for the parts of this song that are on the deeper end of the vocal register. It just doesn’t work. And it’s no fault of her own. It’s a simple mismatch. This is not the right song for her to sing, and I would be willing to bet for any woman to sing, not without it not sounding right.
For a high school girl, decent, but it'll be her own version of the song. No high school girl could ever get close to Chris Cornell's rough baritone...
I have literally listened to this song thousands of times since it first came out....and I know that guitar solo very well when I hear it. No one has ever nailed it in a cover like this kid did!!! The timing of all the wah pedal sounds and messy tremolo picking was like it was right off the Superunknown album
This cover is absolutly greater it surpasses any other covers or the original! I really feel the harmonies! Every bit of this song is perfect only because of this performance from these guys! The sound techs, the musicians, the vocales! It's a WOW!!!
The backing singer is phenomenal. Would love to hear him doing more. Not taking anything away from the lead singer - she was great too. But his voice was so good.
I love these "School of Rock" remakes. The band is awesome but the lead singer takes it to the next level. She really made me sit back and pause. Gave the song new meaning.
Despite the few critics on the young lady's vocals, I think this is a really good cover. I love the contrast in the vocals, and think it works really well. The tempo on the album version is tricky and I feel the nailed it. The opening guitar riff was on the money, loved the young lady playing bass. Well done guys, I loved it. And I am sure all soundgarden/Cornell fans see this for what it is, a group of young people picking up the mantle of grunge and paying tribute to possible the best rock vocalist in the last 40 years. Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍🎸🤘🤘🤘
This group of musicians do this song proud. Vocals, guitars and percussion are exceptional. SOR gives me hope for the future of music and keeping the classics alive.
That man´s voice is really good. The girl´s voice is awesome as well, very steady, not an easy task. In fact they´re all good. Bass in particular was spot on.
To those who say the girl shouldn't be singing, get a grip, she did a great job and its different in a good way, at 62 I have heard alot of singers and bands, this is excellent
@@glennryzebol4472 I disagree. She did a great take on this as a female lead, and she showed real passion and soul. I liked her performance here a LOT. (But yes, I was skeptical until she started singing.)
Amazing killer versions, respecting the original spirit of the songs You all perform but adding a personal touch, congratulations to all the performing kids and faculty at school of rock, amazing job, keep the good work 🤘🤘🤘
Exquisite performance overall !! Inspired AND INSPIRING. Lead vocal's performance was both sensual and hypnotic, as were her team mates on the strings. Drumming was rock solid and anchored the entire piece. Everyone were visually IN THE ZONE, separately -- and together !! nice. These students made this original their own. 0 to 10 scale : 10
Remarkable from a movie with Jack Black to young ones playing tunes like this. Remarkable how time has gone so far and talent is being discovered again. Outstanding how good the tone is compared to listening through a small two to four inch speaker on a radio listening to some real oldies on Oklahoma's AM station 1520 back in the late 60's. Great shot young ones and talent that almost wants me to teach instead of being on stage (my past dream). I'd be proud as Mr. Black with the original artist that he used in the movie, "School Of Rock."
I’m obviously super impressed with everything this channel has produced and I wish I could have the opportunity to have this training when I started playing music. But I’m even more impressed with the mixing quality in these videos. So professional.
I know this is probably been said before but these kids weren't even born when this song came out and they nailed it! Everything was spot on. Vocals were great. They made it their own. I was 19 when this was released. The 90s were a trip!

Such a great song, been "covered" by tons of bands/acts, especially since Chris died. The vibe these younger musicians show is really powerful & great - you can see the effort they all put in PS cool gear kids
I've listened to several of these videos briefly. If you all made more videos, with the same kids in different eras of rock and roll you would probably discover that some of these kids would become star musicians. I mean platinum selling artists or bands. Most impressive videos I've seen is "Carry on Wayward Son", this one, and Le Freak that I've seen so far. The things you are doing are not easy. It takes a whole lot of courage.
Nobody talking about the drummer? Not an incredibly hard song to play. But it's hard to keep the slow tempo going perfectly like that. His fills were on point and very tasteful. It's not overplayed at all. Very impressive.
He was excellent and its such a nice drum rift throughout. Simple is sometimes better.

Great job by everyone, but the guy doing background vocals absolutely killed it!
Absolutely agree, he totally lifted this performance even higher. Not to mention that supporting a beard at his age is impressive too.
That dudes voice is perfect, holy shit.
That dude nailed his vocals. Both vocalists, as well as the rest of the band, did a great job!
Probably the best vocals I've heard from School of Rock. These two should go places.
This was absolutely amazing. Background vocalist killed it!
holy cow I want to hear that guy sing it all ...I like her voice too
fucking right?!
Her voice is ass
@@dschrads13 No it isn't...she just needs better training. Considering there's no auto-tune.

Lead guitarist's accuracy was boss, as well as his guitar faces, he was totally into it.

a tear ran down my cheek when I heard the male vocalist sing. his voice is identical to a certain musician that passed away.
Chris is up in heaven looking down and smiling at this group of talented kids.
Not often does the harmony vocal make such an overwhelming impact on a song. That dude's got some pipes!
A female vocalist pulling of these lead vocals like this is un-be-lie-va-ble! Super impressed.
Thought her vocals were bang on. She nailed it. Very impressed.. With all of them.
She hit the notes well enough.

That guitarist doing a really nice Kim Thayil impression on that solo! Wow! Superb!

Her vocals were awesome tribute to the original. Rock on and forever.
