Honestly in my personal opinion, I think Sonic is interested in Amy. However, Sonic is just too scared to commit to it. Bro wants to forever relax and not have to deal with relationships. there are a few ships that I like to call "canon ships" which means that they have real evidence behind them and they could potentially actually happen. things like knuckles and rouge, as seen in sonic adventure 2, sonic X, and other media. Also Tangle and Whisper have been confirmed by Ian Flynn that if the team could, they would write them as a couple. an also a few other pairings with evidence, like vector and vanilla, and sonic and amy. these ships all have logic and evidence from multiple sources to justify the possibility of the characters being in a relationship.
i’ll offer my two cents and say that if it wasn’t for Sega of America pushing back we could’ve had Sonamy as a couple. it makes the most sense since Amy is designed to look like Sonic but a girl, just like Minnie looks like Mickey but a girl. Naoto Oshima, the creator of Sonic, said that he’s young and immature, but if he were to mature he would choose to be with Amy. just sayin
Yes that's true Sonic and Amy s' relationship realy seen to go in this way since in Frontiers now that everyone have grown mature. In the japonaise dialogue of the games when the tow hedgehogs have an arguments Amy say to Sonic that she want to help to Kocos because she think it would be benefic for her relationship with Sonic for "our futur " and Sonic smiles. After seen the couple dying Amy said that she want to go on her own discover her self and Sonic made her know that she always have her place by his side. Here we see that we have tow characters who respect and love each another.

One thing I really like about the Sonic universe is that they cannot make any ships canon which I see as everyone can do what they want.
I personally really like sonadow since it's just fun to see how that would work out, since I know no ship will ever be canon, in fact I really don't want them to give Sonic a girlfriend or a boyfriend since that would ruin Sonics character, he's not fit for a relationship imo.
And all of those examples you came with were all retconned weren't they? Archie is not canon if I remember correctly so everything that happened in them didn't really happen.
to me Sonic is an open character where you can do whatever you want, since it's the fandom none of it's gonna effect the real Sonic, people can obsess over sonamy or sonadow, I just stay away from those ships I don't like and try to keep it civil when I talk to people who don't ship.

dude perectly said everything ive been saying. Ive seen so many people say ''sonic probably has trauma and is so stressed, he neeeds a break" as if Sonic doesnt literally love adventure and risk, he lost a friend in Unleashed and continued to smile, and when he and nearly all his friends couldve possibly died in Sonic frontiers he was still smiling, and in sonic X when he didnt know if his friends were on the same planet as him he still smiled. It's like they dont even know Sonic as a character and watched a singular tv show, and assumed it was some lovey dovey or realistic type of show.
And Sonic has feelings for amy, supported by deleted dialouge of sonic saying "Amy...I wish we were sharing an umbrella under this rain right now." and "Amy...I shouldve told you sooner..". The fact these exist just means sega and sonic team still intend for Sonic to have feelings for amy, but just too cocky too admit, this is also shown in shows like Sonic Boom. Its a shame the shippers flooded Sonics fanbase and tarnished it lol. Sonic Prime brought hella too with Sonic and Shadow being so close together and their being SO many sonadow shippers...

I watched sonic prime, and I have to admit that I don’t see anything that can confirmed as sonadow ship, anything that was on there would have to be a stretch to see it as shipping sonadow, but on the other hand there is no sonamy either. Like Amy is not interested in Sonic in any way, even her original version doesn’t seem to like sonic that way, which I feel kind of left a weird void to the series. Something was missing.
i agree with u on everything except the amy not liking Sonic. Ever since amy was introduced in the franchise (Sonic CD) she was seen obsessed with sonic. Ever since she has been until Sega decided to stop making her be obsessed with sonic so that her character can develop, which was basically said in her 2023 character description, in many twitter takeovers its shown amy still "loves" sonic with her accidentally saying it. Sega have been expanding the characters giving them kore development recently so that theyre not just the same lifeless cheerleaders for sonic they used to be, so thats the only reason its not so evident Amy likes sonic anymore :)
