I actually thought the strawberry one would have been good. The cream cheese would probably change the texture a little to make it more dense, more like a traditional cookie.

Fun fact: Red velvet is not a flavor. It's just chocolate cake mix with red food coloring. The culinary world has lied to us
Tay Burrows I mean commercially this is how it is done nowadays but traditionally the reason it was called red velvet was because in the original recipes because of the vinegar and buttermilk(both acidic) that would be added. These would react with the athocyanins in the cocoa bringing out a red colour (athocyanins turn red in the presence of acids). Also the acidic liquid would react with the baking soda in the cake to make it bubble up and fluff the cake giving it a light smooth "velvety" texture. So that is why it was originally called red velvet

I've made the lemon ones with lemon cake mix before, and it's like lemony heaven for me. Lemon is my absolute flavor of anything! I've tried cakemix with lemon extract, and it was... Okay, I guess but I definitely recommend them with lemon cake mix!!

This video was really satisfying seeing the cookies coming together so nicely
Red velvet cake has a lot less cocoa powder in it as compared to a chocolate cake. Red velvet also has vinegar and buttermilk in it, which creates a chemical reaction with the cocoa powder that makes it slightly red in color (more red is added through food dye). This reaction causes the cake to be light and fluffy 😊

The melted marshmallow in the s'mores cookie sound delicious. I'd love to try that cookie, if I had to choose any. I made cake mix cookies once and they tastes just like cake, so I'm glad to know you didn't have this problem with this batch. It gives me hope.

After graduating high school, I made cookies for the rest of the school using cake mix. So many boxes...but I've been making these for years and I love coming up with new ones, like cinnamon roll cookies or strawberry or "ying yang chocolate chip" cookies ❤️ it's fun to experiment with different cake mixes and add ins and rolling in sugar mixtures or glazing them 😊
How do you make the cinnamon roll cookies?
@@JinxD247 so mine weren’t swirled like a cinnamon roll, but I did yellow cake mix, and added a bunch of cinnamon and mixed it in before adding the eggs and oil (if you try to add it after the wet ingredients it won’t mix in evenly) then I baked them like normal and when the cookies were cool I flipped them and dunked the top into a glaze made of powdered sugar and milk. Let the glaze set and it basically tasted like a cinnamon roll.
This comment is a throwback, but I still love making new kinds of cake mix cookies, it’s an easy way to experiment in the kitchen. Just made some chocolate cookies with mini m&m’s in them for Christmas!
