The reason why fidget spinners are popular was because that it "helps with ADHD, fidgeting, anxiety, and so on." Since the fidget cube trend was popular, the fidget spinner was popular as well.
However, unlike the fidget cube, the fidget spinner doesn't not help with anything stated above.

Depends actually. Some people with ADHD and anxiety issues found it useless, others in the same situation found it distracting and unhelpful. Each individual deal with it differently so the results will vary - it's like how for one person just tapping their foot/shaking their leg is enough for them to help them focus and/or calm down while the next person needs a different method.

To start, fidgeting is a subconcious action that a person does in a stressful stiduation. Things such as clicking, squeezing, and shaking are considered fidgeting. All these actions have in common is that they are simple actions that will not interrupt brain activity.
Now, spinning an object take these brain commands: holding the fidget spinner (in a certain way), look at the spinner, turning the spinner, and making sure it is still spinning. To handle this many commands, this activity has to be done with a concious mind. Which in return, distract the user.
Also, there is something known as the placebo effect. This means that if the person thinks something is helpful, it would become helpful. So it makes sense that a small number of people find it "helpful".

Fidget spinners can actually really help with anxiety, I just use mine when I'm going threw stressful situations or having a lot of anxiety so it can help to distract with that but some people just use it at a distraction at school when they're bored so that's why they have been banned at schools. 😂
Hey David! Thought I'd pass on some baking knowledge that my grandmother gave me: cream of tartar is used as a thickener that is usually added to egg whites. It is actually an acid, that when combined with baking soda, produces carbon dioxide gas bubbles which give the egg whites body and stiffer peaks (basically the same chemical process as yeast)

Cream of tartar:
-stabilises whipped egg whites (like in meringue)

Before people even knew what fidget spinners were my friends and I designed and 3D printed them for our engineering class. I have no idea how they became so popular but every time I had it out people just had to try it in the beginning. At least for us they were easy to make and that's why we kept making more.

Cream of tartar is basically an acidic salt that will stabilise your egg whites while they're beating. If you'd added the cream of tartar before beating the egg whites it would help them expand and the merengue would be nice and fluffy.

The cookies didn't spin because you didn't let the icing dry on the cookies and instead they dried to the main component of the spinner.
A good substitute for this royal icing would be a "Flood consistency" icing, that is icing that is thinner than this that you pipe the outline, let that dry a minute, and then fill everything in, flooding the inside. It is a form of royal icing and it dries miraculously smooth, which would also help these cookies.

Cream of Tartar is based of tartaric acid. It's a byproduct of wine. It's the residue left on the barrels of wine. It's used as a leavener, as you can tell because that's how you've used it in this video and in many videos previously
