Yesterday was my first day at uni so I thought I'd come back to this vid & share my experiences lol.... basically, arrived at 10am with my dad, had a very rubbery cheese toastie, got stuck in a queue at tesco, my dad left, i cried in my room for like 2 hours, unpacked, walked around campus, got lost, had an awkward meeting with my classmates & ended the day with some leftover pizza, a packet of crisps & more crying in my room... I think you'll agree that was a resounding success...
Not exactly. I'm a quiet and shy type (who likes to draw) and I easily found people with similar personalities to me. In highschool, there would be 1/million chance of that happening. Whereas in uni, it's more like 1/10 people will be similar to you. Plus, there's isn't really a social hierarchy when you enter uni - it's like a reset button. Everyone's on the same boat so no one really cares about other peoples' past.
Maya Actually, I found it way easier than highschool or post graduation. 90% of people who start out are as clueless as you are and. I'll garantee you there are a lot of people who share the same interests as you. As long as you don't spend your whole time locked up in your own room you'll be fine.
At least in Uni, not everyone is a complete ass and thinks that twerking on your desk is cool, hip, trendy and edgy. I'm not totally social with everyone, but at least those in Uni have matured since high school and can respect their peers and their workspace.

Always ask someone if "This is the room for _______ class?" Two birds with one stone - you've confirmed you're in the right place (or you're completely lost) and you've at least got someone to sit next to for the first day.
One huge thing I have learned from my years in college: there is absolutely NO shame in changing your major. It doesn't matter what the change is; this is your life and you're the one who has to live with it. If you feel like the major you are in is not feeling right or wasn't what you expected you are allowed to change it despite anything anyone says. As long as you're happy. That's what matters the most, especially at this point in your life. You're still trying to figure yourself out and trying new things is what you're supposed to be doing. Take risks because you have the time to fix them if they turn out to be mistakes. Life is not moving as quickly as people say, it's ok to go slow. There's nothing wrong with testing things out. You don't have to know exactly who you are or who you want to be at this point. It'll be ok
I'm in my second year doing accounting and sometimes I really wish I'd gone into something different that felt more right for me, like english lit. But at the same time I have no courage and I'd seriously like a job in the future :(

I averaged about 4 hours of sleep that entire semester, and after my last final, I went to my dorm and sobbed on the floor. My roommate walked in and promptly joined me.

I'm going into my second year and last year I started out as an anxious wreck of an introvert who hid in their room and fell out with their flatmates but by the end of the year I had a huge group of friends, the majority of my course knew who I was and I actually started clubbing. Now I'm going into my second year and term can't start soon enough. The Facebook thing is the most legit part of this video though I would have died if it wasn't for Facebook groups
It's like high school except there's no dress code and there's a party every night. You are more accountable for your work, and showing up isn't mandatory as long as you show up on test day but that also depends on where you decide to go.
Used to watch Dan’s videos basically on repeat to help distract me from my mental demons, never thinking I’d ever be well enough to further my education. Now I’m 22, and tomorrow is my first day at university and I’m currently sat in my student accommodation feeling hella emotional at how far I’ve come since the first time I found Dan’s videos. I'm going into my second year and last year I started out as an anxious wreck of an introvert who hid in their room and fell out with their flatmates but by the end of the year I had a huge group of friends, the majority of my course knew who I was and I actually started clubbing. Now I'm going into my second year and term can't start soon enough. The Facebook thing is the most legit part of this video though I would have died if it wasn't for Facebook groups
It's like high school except there's no dress code and there's a party every night. You are more accountable for your work, and showing up isn't mandatory as long as you show up on test day but that also depends on where you decide to go.
Used to watch Dan’s videos basically on repeat to help distract me from my mental demons, never thinking I’d ever be well enough to further my education. Now I’m 22, and tomorrow is my first day at university and I’m currently sat in my student accommodation feeling hella emotional at how far I’ve come since the first time I found Dan’s videos. He probably won’t see this but thanks Dan, your videos really helped me overcome some long, dark nights, and I’ve definitely taken some tips from this vid on what not to do now I’m here 😂 xx
