    My 1791 OWB Holster came today and I am presently letting it stretch a bit with a Wax Paper wrap. I think it works well, maybe better than a Plastic Bag.

    Bought a 1791 for my Ruger SP 101. Used this method to stretch it out. Was still tight. So I wrapped the revolver in a piece of old tee shirt, placed it in the bag and inserted into the holster. Let it sit for 6 hrs and then tried it. Went in smooth and came out smooth.

    I apply Obenauff's heavy duty boot oil on the leather front and back, stitching, and burnished edges. On the other I use Obenauff's boot wax (mink oil) paste. Front and back, stitching, and edges. Protects leather and keeps it fresh. Also sprayed silicone on the inside to keep it slick. Good quality holster and wonderful addition to my Galco and Bianchi leathers.

    Wrap your pistol EVENLY with several layers of cling wrap..Grip, slide, and frame. If you plow your firearm within an uneven mess off irregular pressure points from the thick ziplock, excessively towards the holster opening, as seen in this video, you're not going to have an even fit. If you don't really care about your piece being fit precisely, it'll be okay, you probably wouldn't even notice it. However, I like mine to be perfect....Just my opinion.

      @@eriksixx1226 ....very stiff, thick leather and took quite a while to break in with my full size 1911. Couldn’t get the gun all the way in without a lot of force. If you don’t use it for a while you have to break it in all over again. Leaves rub marks on the parkerized finish but they can be cleaned off. Holster looks great but rides kind of high on the hip for me. Hope that helps.

    What's the best way to get the hoster from stop squeaking, when I'm wearing it on my belt it's squeaking a lot with every movement

    • @BoomStickTactical
      @BoomStickTactical  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leather is going to squeak. Make sure your belt is wide enough to fill the belt loop on the holster. That will help some.

    I have a 1791 iwb holster but it’s hard to draw, at least a bit harder than my kydex, does this go away ever and does it become easier to draw over time? Is this what you call breaking in?

    • @BoomStickTactical

      Yes, it will loosen up some by doing this and even more as you use it.

  • @cynicsupreme

    The other main problem with this holster is the belt loop holes. They are too narrow for a 1.5 inch thick gun belt. You will have to sand them with a file to comfortably wear it.

      The plastic bag adds a small amount of thickness to your gun and will help stretch the holster without it losing its form.
