Back in the day, when I built a hot rod style trans I would remove the wave plate and add a clutch plate and a steel plate. Depends on the trans, but most had a wave plate so tall so a car buyer didn't feel the trans shift, it just went down the road.
Thanks for watching!! All of the other upgrade kits for the clutch packs recommended removing the wave plate except for the direct drum. I had to double check the instructions to make sure I was supposed to install it. Hopefully it works as it should. We will see!
Hope you make it at least to the dirty dozen for UA! can never have too much IH iron repping! Glad you made this video. I just picked up that late model 4L80E to put in place of my NV4500 if and when that rattle trap trans blows up. And you still get that feeling of actually shifting gears! And I don't want to have to piss around with any VSS garbage etc. I assume this kit gets you TCC lock up in OD and a manual lock up switch? There are kits to just electrically turn it into a manual valve body but it doesn't get you that wicked reverse pattern for quick bumps into reverse when wheeling. Can't wait to see it in action!
I am excited about this build even if I don't make it to UA at least it motivated me. Yes the kit retains lock up in OD and is controlled by a switch . No lock up in 3rd though.
