I feel like you got better deals down there. Up here in pennsylvania I bet someone would try getting 1500 for it as it set seized up. Its made in japan by shibaura. I worked on a smaller one before, seemed built good.
Globeglider: If you shift it to a high gear and pull it and pop the clutch after ya'll put a little oil in the cylinders. Like the injectors pulled out or glow plugs if it has them. Put hydraulic oil or transmission fluid in the cylinders. Don't be too rough by jamming it in gear after you get going. Just have it in 4th gear before starting. And if it doesn't turn over then try reverse while pulling it forwards. Not too fast or ya'll may break your transmission.
I have now got her running. It was a mess. It had run dry of oil. The bearings were melted to the crank! I did a backyard journal polish and put in new bearings. Rebuilt the diesel pump and put in new injectors. All seems good now.@@PaulHigginbothamSr
Great job getting running again. I have two of these. No need to take off with rpms that high. There should have been a foot throttle control on the rh side step plate. I see it's missing as is the lh step plate. Did you bend the rh lift arm? Any way...there are supposed to be springs on the inner sides of each arm to keep them from swinging back and forth. ..notice the welded on loops. You can pick them up at Lowe's. Not the original key...it should be smaller and covered in hard plastic. Who cares right...lol. I just did a restoration on one, it was in real good shape to start with. We gave 3700 for it. I wouldn't waste time painting it. It's a beater. There is no air filter to look up. It's an oil bath, you take it apart, clean out the sludge in the bottom and fill with oil...the base is marked with an oil line. Oil filter size is okay, larger one is still available. Finding parts for them is a pain and rather expensive. Throw any type of can over the exhaust when not in use....or put on a rain cap. I definitely would have paid 500 just for salvage.
Man thinks for the info, there's a lever on the left side if your sitting on the tractor, on the side of the transmission it seems to like the the clutch engaged befor it moves feels like it has 2 positions down and up, couldn't figure what it does, I ordered the lift seal because of it randomly working, is aw46 ok to use for the transmission or what's best
Use a good tractor fluid for the hydraulics, I use Mobil delvac Tractor fluid. Or the new holland tractor fluid. Don’t use that super cheap j20 junk from the tractor store
Great longer video. I get why you might want to keep her but fix the basics and give it a lick of paint. Those appear to be selling north of $4000. Either way, very cool. Moar please!

I had a 1710...with a loader backhoe that I bought for $4k. I used it a couple years and sold it for $7k. Pre covid. You better add some trans/hydraulic oil asap before driving any more. That should get the 3 pt lift operating. And lubing up the trans.

I've got a 1700. Water pumps won't last too long. I use up one about every 500 hours. Otherwise, not much to go wrong once you get it running. It is a oil bath air filter. they make great rake tractors for small rakes, run finish mowers and 5' bush cutters, even 6' and I work mine with a finish mower for the ditches around the farm. Garden tilling, anything an 8N could do, these tractors can do.
Daniel, you haven't lived till you drop the wrench in a bucket full of oil and have to reach in and get the wrench out, you where lucky and dropped it in a empty bucket. Love you Chanel, i am 18 and have 4 old tractors from the 50s one is a old ford a 861 power master witha 5 speed its a 1954.
Can’t beat that deal with a stick!! 😂 I bought a little Case International tractor that was real similar to yours. A little newer and a box blade and rotary mower that came with it for $1,970. Kept it about 4 years and sold it for $3,500. I’m afraid I gave it away at that price, guy couldn’t write me a check fast enough when I told him how much.
I have my grandfather original ford 1700 tractor still. Great machine only issue right now is the lift won’t go up. Pump is fine I think it is something in the value system
rain flooded my intake and locked the engine(diesel 2 cyl ford 1600). i turned the engine backwards with a wrench and when water sloshed back i soaked it up with a rag till no more water. engine turned fine and started, but mine was in running condition before the rain.
Great save on a bargain-priced little tractor. Can't imagine buying one in the same shape for 500 dollars here. Word of advice from someone who has worked with tractors all his life: Throttle back before starting off. Only use as much throttle as you need to get moving. Driving like that is dangerous and will result in clutch or transmission failure.
It was probably just hydrolocked. You should have tried to spin the engine as soon as you got the injectors out before you did anything else. I would love to get a tractor like that.
I got a 1600 with the apperantly a gost of a cylinder head bc mine was crack along in the valves someone's trying to work on it now bc someone keeps buying all the cylinder heads for the 2 cylinder diesel
I told my self it probably was gonna be yard art I never had so much luck with a stuck engine makes me want to seek out other stuck engines and try vinegar
If it will not turn with the starter ,quit trying ! You will break a rod or worse break crankshaft! Pull the injectors and then try turning it over. If that doesn't work you will have to pull head and see if you can see what is wrong! If all looks OK then it is time to pull oil pan and see what crank case looks like, if all looks good might be in drive line!
