When I was 9 I wrote her a letter expressing my love of her and her music and movies. Months later my grandma said I had a letter from someone. When I got it, the beautiful mailing label said, “STREISAND”! Inside was a picture from her Timeless Concert with a signature. It was the greatest feeling for a little boy with big dreams. A few years later I got to see her in LA, and boy was that a wonderful night. Thank you Barbra, I love you ❤
How great that she sent you an autographed photo. When I was around 9 myself, I wrote fan letters to Carol Burnett and Goldie Hawn and they BOTH sent me autographed photos, which I still have framed. It means so much to a child to receive something from his heroines. ❤
That was very nice of them to do that. I also wrote to Jim Davis as a kid for a school project where we had to write a letter to our favoritecelebrity, and I got back an autographed picture of Garfield. Which was really cool. However the unfortunate truth is that they get so much mail, that they don't actually read every single letter they get. They might read some, but it is almost impossibleto read it all. It would be like you being asked to read the entire encyclopedia every single day. But the celebs that care will send an autograph as a token of their of appreciation, and acknowledgement that they received your letter. They might not have necessarily read it, but they at least recognize that you wrote it. A modern day example would be a celebrity liking a post on social media about them. Even though they don't read every post they're tagged in.
@@joeybaseball7352 My first job in New York was working for a legendary Italian business owned by an "Italian Countess" from North Carolina (in the office we called her Mrs Lee, because that was a good Southern name, but Countess when people were around). We had a small staff in New York, one of whom did nothing but keep up the Christmas Card List. We were all roped in on June 1st every year to start addressing each and every envelope by hand. There were hundreds going around the globe. All those people thought she was personally sending them that beautiful Christmas Card. In truth, she looked at every single envelope to see if it met with her standards, before being sent out. Upon her death in Venice, the Italian government reclaimed their history, which lives on today. I bet the Italians don't send cards to anyone.
There was nobody like her when she started and there is nobody like her now. I don't think we will EVER see the likes of her again. She is a LEGEND and a TREASURE!!!
Absolutely! She and her music have been a part of my life since I was 7 years old in 1964. Her voice was a "constant" in our home, via her albums that were played on our old record player, her specials were a must see event and her movies were much anticipated. My friend and I sat through two consecutive showings of " The Way We Were" back in 1974, and it is still one of my all-time favorite films. She is the very definition of "incomparable"; a true American musical treasure. There will NEVER be another talent that comes anywhere close to her.
I wasn’t going to comment until Barbra said she likes knowing she helped people with her music. Well dear Barbra, you helped me through the good times and the worst times from the early 70’s onward. I came home from a tough job everyday and put your album on to help me unwind for years. In 2014 I was very ill and listening to the duets in Partners was a godsend to get through physical pain every day. I’m only one of millions you have touched in a deep, personal way. Thank you for sharing your gift and for sticking to your inner wisdom to deliver that gift with impeccable taste.
I bought the audiobook to hear her read. I thought I would listen maybe a couple hours a day, but I haven’t stopped listening to it, because it is absolutely fascinating. What a book. What a life.
I can't put it down. I am reading a chapter and watching, concert, show or movie right after to visualize what she is narrating. I am in awe! @@somebodysomething4242
@@Brian-uy2tj yes, every scene! It was on about a year ago on one of the movie channels, I had forgotten it was filmed in San Francisco and all the crazy streets, up and down, the guys moving the huge plate of glass that they miss going one direction but in coming back it’s disaster in a vw beetle I believe. The chemistry between Ryan and Barbara was off the charts, both young and so beautiful. I wish movies today would produce such a funny farce.
I LOVE that Barbra and Jim still seem so much in love. Barbra has brought so much happiness to so many of us, I really hope she has happiness in her life as well!
@@kllwc7772 Her mother advised Babs to learn shorthand and steno, worrying that not only wouldn't she get anywhere in show business, but might not even snag a husband.
@@kllwc7772 Judy Garland, ironically- maybe not?- was similar. She didn't dissuade Liza from show business, but didn't have much faith in her. Her advice: "Dance, kid!" Totally opposite: Moms of Frank Sinatra and Tony Curtis.
For years I couldn’t listen to “People” without crying. My late Mother adored Barbara. Some of my most prized memories is when I Would come home from boarding school for summer vacation, and on a summer morning, we’d have the windows open, sun shining through the downstairs, and the music on the hi fi playing and Mommie singing along with Barbara. Sounding just like her. After my Mother passed away 12 years ago, I was sitting on a transit bus, ear buds in as usual. “People”comes on. Before you know it, I’m crying. I’m doing everything I can to hide my tears from other passengers. Turning, shifting. There are some songs I can’t listen to in public. Sometimes I win, sometimes the song wins. Congratulations on such an amazing career, life, motherhood, marriage. Because of what you meant to my Mother, you’ll always have a place in my heart. When I’m alone in my kitchen, blasting my music, and singing at the top of my lungs, no other song in the universe can connect me to My mother like People. It doesn’t matter that I don’t sing like her. All that matters is I know she’s looking down on me, saying I love you too daughter ♥️🎵🎤🌹🎶🎼🙏🏽
❤️ I will never forget having the opportunity to fly Barbra and her husband James, as well as 3 others on a private jet from Camarillo, Ca. to France. It was the most beautiful and memorable experience serving her and her guests, as a flight attendant on a private Gulfstream jet. I loved that she spoke French to me. As I mentioned that I was French and she is very fluent with the language too. She's even written songs in French. It was such a joy to have met her up close and personal. I was the only flight attendant on that private jet and it was a long flight from California to France. So, I made sure she was treated like a queen! 👸👑 Her guest we’re just as lovely. She so appreciated my first class service and I was just as delighted she enjoyed the flight. As she was about to deplane in France, she hugged me and thanked me while holding her Bishon Frise. 🐶 Wow! I was so fortunate to have gotten a hug from such an icon!!
Was she more generous, with a gratuity, than the wealthy passengers on your other private jet flights? It's one thing to give a hug, it's another thing to discretely pass over an envelope with, what to her would be a trivial amount of cash.
I was just a teenager when the way we were came out. But I was mesmerized.. not only by Robert Redford and His handsome self but also by Barbra Streisand and her unbelievable portrayal and the god-given gift of her song. I'm 66 years old now but I still remember how I felt when I watched that movie.😊
one of my favorite movies, a beautiful tear-jerker. was 10 when her album 'my name is barbra' came out. 'jenny rebecca' made a little girl feel something she had never felt before. such a treasure.
Me too! Was 16 when that movie premiered (1973), and my friend and I sat through two continuous matinee showings for a $1.50 ticket. That was when you could stay in the theater after the initial showing and could watch the movie again for free (we did the same with " American Graffiti"), "The Way We Were" is still one of my all-time favorite films. The chemistry between Streisand and Redford was magnetic and magical, and the ending will always break your heart, but remind you why you fell in love with Robert Redford because of that film. Sidenote: I saw the " real" Robert Redford back in 1989, when I was with some friends visiting Sundance, Utah during his Summer Sundance Film Festival. We were eating lunch while watching him right outside the window of the restaurant where he was holding court with others from the film industry, just walking back and forth on the outside porch and looking every bit like a "Regular Joe" (blue jeans, flannel shirt, boots). I was surprised at how short and small of stature he was, as compared to the image that is projected by Hollywood on those silver screens. Both he and Barbra are true living legends. Both incomparable, iconic, adored...
For "Enough is Enough" Barbra was huffin' and puffin' trying to keep up with the fantastic voice of Donna Summer. No contest. Donna had the better pipes and breath control.
I've been obsessed with Barbra since I was a child. And I still feel the same way. No other entertainer ever came close to making me feel the way she does when she opens her mouth to sing. There will never be another.
At 81 don’t blame you for not wanting to sing in public again. I fulfilled my bucket list and saw you in Chicago in 2019. What a dream come true. So excited to get this book. We’ve all been waiting a long time. didn’t mean to be disrespectful by pointing out your age but as a big fan, I’ve always known that you’re almost exactly 20 years older than I am.😊 Love you, Barbra!!
Barbra and I went to the same high school, although she was 4 years ahead of me. We were both in the choruses, and although she had graduated, we kept hearing about this student with a miraculous voice who was starting to make it in clubs and possibly headed for Broadway. Our huge music department was headed by an incredible teacher, the great Cosimo V. DePietto. When the school needed money to repair the stain glass windows that were in the auditorium (called the chapel), she donated $ in Mr. DePietto's name. Thank you Barbra. Although Erasmus is closed now.........all Erasmians will always love you.
@@TiMalice2009 It initially was broken down into several small schools, and the last I looked on the web, it said that it had closed. That filled me with such sadness. It also looked to be in terrible disrepair. What a majestic school, with such a history. Many Westinghouse winners. We had Barbra, Barry Manilow, Neil Sedaka, Neil Diamond.........I know I'm forgetting some others. Erasmus Hall was a treasure.
Hi again just went back on the web. Erasmus, as we knew it, has been closed. However, it was broken into 5 separate schools, that focus on various vocations. But the life and spirit of the former school is gone.
@@cherylcalac8485 YES!!! He did. He and Barbra were in Choral Club at the same time. They did not become friends then. It was only when they both had great success, that they became friends, and sang some wonderful songs together. Can't believe I didn't mention Neil. Thank you for reminding me.
My parents transitioned on the same day 3:24 hours apart from each other. we were all fans of Barbra. After their burial I went home utubes her music honoring them. I swear I thought I had listened to all her songs and suddenly this song Emily appeared that was my moms name it was a message from them telling me they were fine I was in tears but happy at the same time.Thank you Barbra
Omgosh, that is truly incredible n in a sense soooo heartbreaking. I so pray they are still holding hands with Heavenly Padre. We're sorry for your loss, Bless you 🙏
For those people who didn't know, Barbra Streisand made 3 movies of her own wherein she was starring, producing and directing them, these movies are: "Yentl" , "The Prince of Tides" and "The Mirror has two Faces" and she even wrote theme songs for those 3 movies. What a great talent😍😍😍
💃her work has helped and encouraged other women in the next genetation(s) to embrace their talents and move forward in their dreams inside the business known as show business. Thank you Ms Streisand💙🙏💙Blessings💙🙏💙
Gotta hand it to her. She certainly lived life on her own terms, regardless of what others thought. And I admire her for admitting she won't sing in public anymore. I'm sure her voice is not what it used to be, just due to the passage of time. Nothing sadder than a once great singer trying to hit the soaring high notes that they just can't get anymore. Better to remember them at their best.
@@katiechapman277 She's 81, and her voice has been gradually declining for the past 20 years - which is natural and to be expected, especially for a vocalist who only uses her instrument sporadically and doesn't exercise it regularly. Her speaking voice is also now quite husky, suggesting some kind of paresis or GERD that would make singing more of a challenge for her. I'm sure she's well aware that her last public outings have been uneven at best, and wisely prefers to be remembered "the way she was". She has a incredibly long and illustrious career to look back on. There's no shame in admitting she doesn't have it in her to perform live anymore, whatever the reason.
@@ericholck3914 Agreed. The last few times I've heard her sing, if she stays within the lower registers, she sounds good. Those high notes and holding the long notes are a challenge, as you say, is to be expected. The pipes just aren't there anymore and that is just the mark of time. There is no doubting her talent and history.
@@tysonb3568 Except she missed the mark, hope she came to discover the real fascist/authoritarians were those of her own political affiliations/persuasion. OMG I had no idea she is 81! 😱 But when I think of it she has been part of the soundtrack of my life and I’m in my 50s. Wish I could’ve seen her in concert. ❤ Great interview!
You’re so right. No one can compare with her in any way. I’m really happy for her that she and her husband James Brolin, after 25 years married, are so happy and so in love. You can tell they’re best friends. ❤️❤️
There is NOBODY like Barbra! I have followed her since 1962, have dozens of her recordings, I’ve seen every movie - to me she is the greatest star that ever lived! Yep, I’m a fan.
well there is Madonna who is still performing in sold out arenas, making music in her 60s and relevant with the young generation! Maybe Barbra needs an overhaul with her image and sing rap songs
This is the first and only book I've ever backordered. Barbra's singing voice is a balm in a chaotic world. Her films are just galleries of humanity. She makes me feel human when I hear her sing and when I see her act. I'm only 36, but when I first heard her sing, I felt she got me. She understood me. She knew what I was going through that made me need to hear "People," "Don't Rain On My Parade," "The Way We Were." and the masterpiece collection of music she has given us for 60 years. I have her first album and her most recent studio album. I am trying to get everything in between, with a few vinyls thrown in there. She inspired me to do theatre, and I do it professionally. I will never see her live, but I listen to her Millennium Concert every New Year's Eve/Day, because well, why not? I don't know if I will ever meet her, but I leave comments of praise to thank her for the life she has given me.
@outinsider This is a lovely comment. Thanks for sharing your story with us. Barbra does seem to touch so many in a very special place in our souls. I couldn't believe I was listening to an 81-year-old woman. She looks wonderful. I can remember first seeing her when I was a very little girl on the Ed Sullivan Show and loving her ever since then.
Beautiful, moving comment. I must tell you that I had the great good fortune to see her New Year's Eve show in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand, the Millennium Concert. It was the greatest concert I've ever seen; I can't describe the excitement. I've followed her since I was a teenager; she is a gift to us all. :)
@lynnhen When this segment showed the movie still of her with Kris Kristofferson recording - I got goosebumps! Instant memory of the great songs in "A Star Is Born".
A true legend. When she sang On A Clear Day I've always felt she was singing about being clear in our consciousness and nothing to do with the weather. Thank you Barbara for a lifetime of sharing your amazing gifts. 😘
Barbra was at the very top at her peak along with Shirley Bassey, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, and, of course, Donna Summer. They were all equally magnificent!
It's not a competition, but I'm 55 years old and I have loved her since I was 12. i love that you loved her since childhood, too! I agree. There is no one, absolutely no one like her!
LOVED this segment. I couldn't watch it when it was on this morning, but thankfully TH-cam saved me. I sat here for 13 minutes and didn't move my eyes from the monitor. Great interview!
I’m thankful to have watched her from her beginning. I’m 75 and have followed her career and movies. I love her Broadway album. My Son recently bought it. I played her music as my kids grew up. I used to say play Somewhere there’s a place for us, at my funeral.
From the first album my dad bought for me in the 60's till now, I have loved Barbra's voice, performances and the gift she has shared for so very long. She's my go to girl in the hard times.
That brief "Papa Can You Hear Me?" clip gave me goosebumps. "Yentyl" was a masterpiece, showcasing her talent beyond belief. I remember when I was about 20-years-old. A neighbor had backed into my new car on the street and knocked on the door to confess. I thanked him for his honesty, checked out the dent, then returned to my bedroom, resuming what I'd been doing (singing to Barbara's "Yentyl" soundtrack). In the next room, my mom told my grandma, "Nothing gets him down. Listen, he's singing Barbara Streisand songs."
To me she is an amazing woman. Clearly she had some trauma in her childhood, an emotionally abusive stepfather, a emotionally distant mother, bullied in school etc... but the very fact that she overcame all of that to succeed on the level she did is a testimony to the endurance and possibilities of human achievement. She could just as easily turned into another homeless alcoholic living on the streets. She is a true inspiration. She is entitled to be a little crazy with her over decorated homes with shopping malls in the basement. You go girl. You rock, you've always rocked and petty little jealous people will just have to suck it.
Barbra is the only artist ever who has received the Directors Guild of America, Golden Globe, National Medal of Arts, and Peabody awards, as well as France's Légion d'Honneur and the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award
Just when I think, that I cannot love Barbra Streisand more, I watched this. Thank God for you Barbra. You did indeed help so many of us get through some truly horrific things with the power of your spirit and voice. Thank you. I love you. ❤️
I saw her being arrested by military Intel... 5 yrs ago in California.. For crimes against humanity.. We're watching C.G.I. She's been dead for 5 yrs...
"I never listen to my own records once I've finished making them - to me they're associated with WORK...". The thing that strikes me the most about this interview (I didn't watch all of it) is that she is not really committed to music as such, - to her, music is ultimately only the vehicle for her own stardom. She never wrote her own music, so she's not creatively involved with anything other than putting herself at the centre of it (which is also what her producers know about and expect). She represents an OLDER type of music stars, the kind that dominated the charts and entertainment music before the 1960s, before the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Cream and that entire generation (they were born around the same time as her, but a different generation) changed the rules of the game and put bands/artists that write their own music and formulate their own musical visions at centre stage. And sadly, over the last twenty years or so, we've increasingly had a return to those days; today's young hit artists are developed as clothes-hangers for songs written or dressed up by other people (or for merchandise and franchises associated with the music).
I love her voice, that is a given, but I truly love her strength and respect her stating her opinions and her views. I also love her confidence. People used to say I looked like her and I always wished I could sing like her. She is the best!
Barbara you have always been the # 1 diva and singer for me since I was a child. I want you to know that my beloved mother just died on September 10th, and I made a memoir of the family pics with your song '' The way we were '', Could not give you a bigger and most sincere ""hommage"". Merci for for you have given us all these years. Came to see you in Montreal too: it was an unforgettable moment in my life. You are THE BEST!
I have loved Barbra since the beginning, was able to see her at the International Hotel in 1969, I was 21. I am surprised that Gail didn't know she has stage fright, she has been open to it for years. Her voice is like no other, & remember seeing the specials on CBS. I think I have seen every movie too. I had many of her albums & CD's. She is truly a national treasure. Great interview, I have heard of her basement mall but never saw any of it, it was cool to see it.
I’ve been a fan all my life, there’s Magic in the air when you see her life on stage and you believe every word she sais in a movie. Just can’t believe she’s 81. All the best Barbra without the 3’rd A and thank you so much for inspiring me 🫶
I watched this thinking I would think she is so self centered..a diva, just another Hollywood person. I liked her candor, honesty, beauty, and everything about her. You go Barbara.
We love you Barbra! I just listened to your 40-hour autobiography which included your singing I got so much for my money, a journey through your life I listen to it while I’m going to sleep as your lovely voice helps me float away You’ve created roads for women doing what they want in a male-dominated industry Kamala and you share so much in common. Both women who’ve broken barriers, elegant, strong, independent, creative, high intellects! Light at the end of this long, very dark tunnel! 💡 PS the first indigenous women to hold a high office (vice governor to Walz) will be in their cabinet! FINALLY!
Such a huge talent! I'm forever in awe of her voice, her acting, her intelligence! Think of the last 60 years of my life had I been without the influence of Barbra's music and movies . I can't do it. You've touched the world Barbra! Thank you for sharing your gift!
Ive got it for christmas. Its underneath my tree right now. I feel like a kid again waiting for Christmas Day. Loved her since i was 14, im now 61. This is so exciting for me. Cant wait to get stuck in.
I have enormous appreciation and respect for Barbra Streisand. She has shared her talents on stage and screen for decades, and managed to keep her heart safe in the dangerous world of show business. It was poignant seeing her sing with Judy Garland, who was also extremely talented, but didn't navigate life as well. Just recently, I was listening to a holiday music channel and heard Barbra sing Favorite Things (circa 1967); I was speechless afterward. Barbra has made a difference. 💖💖
Whenever I hear her sing, I think of my aunt who died in the early 90’s from cancer. She was such a great fan of Barbra’s. She adored the film “Funny Girl” and knew all the dialogue and the lyrics by heart. It was a treat to watch the film with her. “What’s up Doc” became one of my favorite films. A few years ago I was diagnosed with cancer myself, the second diagnosis came 2 1/2 years ago. When I was feeling down, my husband would pop in our What’s up Doc DVD and it was guaranteed to make me laugh. The one thing I always wonder is, who got the beautiful album that was shown to the audience at the end of the film? Anyway, thanks for the memories Barbra. We love you.
I grew up listening to her music in my house all the time!! My mom & aunt went to the same high school right before her & best friend went there right after her. I am 68, just admire her talent & grace so much!!! I received her book just today, haven't read it yet. This was a great interview. Barbra if u read this, just one more concert please & i will be there, promise xoxo 💖💖
I love her and her amazing voice, but she does have a sister who is also a singer and surprise, surprise, she sounds a lot like Barbra, but that is where the similarity ends.
Dearest, beautiful Barbara. You were such a huge part of my childhood and adulthood. There has been no one like you before or since. Thank you for all the wonderous, magical memories as I listened, breathless at being present as I witnessed your insane talent.
A Star is Born, Funny Girl, The Way We Were, The Mirror Has Two Faces, and Yentl; some of my all time favorites! There is truly no one like her, she’s a visionary ❤
I actually started clapping and crying at the end of this piece! I have loved Barbra since I was about 7 years old, as my dad absolutely loved her records and would play them at home with some frequency. Since then, I have watched every movie and practiced singing to her a million times...what an utterly irreplaceable dame.
I have loved, admired, and respected beautiful and talented Barbra I think since I was born. My mother told me that as a baby I sighed and smiled every time one of her songs was playing on the radio. One of my biggest dreams is to meet her in person. I am definitely going to read her book. Thank you dear Gayle for this great interview. Thank you Barbra for sharing your amazing collections in your beautiful home and for everything you have shared with the world. Infinite love and blessings always...
I would love to see Barbra singing on stage.... Here she says she doesn't want to, but maybe one day... it would be so special. Such an amazing lady, what a voice. We love you Barbra.💕
Barbra's Stoney End album remains one of my top favorites. I have wonderful memories of walking into my college house and a roommate would always have the album on the record player. I still have my original LP, but later replaced it with a CD. That music takes me back to a wonderful time in my life. I love the fact that she never fixed her nose. I always thought she was just gorgeooooous!
Singing along with Barbra since I was 13 helped me become an infinitely better singer. Since then I’ve produced and directed stage productions, been a choir Director and voice teacher. I am now 66, and still sing along with her. There is no other female singer who compares to her. I also sang “Papa, can you hear me?” as one of my chosen solos when I was in college. I also paid a fortune for a scalped ticket to see her in person in 1994. It was a once in a lifetime experience, worth every penny. Barbra and Johnny Mathis have been my singing idols since I was a teenager, and nobody has come along in all this time to replace or eclipse either one of them. That includes Whitney and Celine. I was in heaven when she finally sang a duet with Johnny - it was a lifetime dream come true! I’d love to hear another before it’s too late.
1964, I was an 11 yaer old lad. in Pittsburgh. My Dad arranged a trip to New York for Mom, me and ny Dad. The highlight were tickets to Funny Girl. We took our seats, There was so much excitement and anticipation-energy you could feel it in the air! And then the show started and we were treated to a voice like no other-truely amazing! Life long fan. Barbra has triumphed in spite of the odds and I am still enrhralled by her creative talents! Like Butta!
I loved seeing the doll room and the antique clothes room! I was born in 1961 and when I was young I could still get Victorian and Edwardian clothes, hats, gloves, etc and I felt driven to buy and wear them. I think I love timelessness in all things. And dolls-I've painted them many times and have a lot-though I have to keep most put away, which is why I love your display. Barbra, I love these things you showed us and I want to tell you, when I was in high school (graduated 1979) I had the 'A Star Is Born' album and would sing to your songs like I was locking into a conduit. It soothed my teenage artists soul, I don't think they were the best lyrics, I just felt right singing with your voice, like you were a tuning fork for my soul. Thanks gal.
My mom's all-time favorite singer along with jazzer Nancy Wilson. We had fun teasing her about about playing Barbra constantly. I was a rebel rocker and wanted nothing to do with that stuff lol. After living some life the scales finally fell from my eyes and I learned to appreciate the true beauty in mom's music. Now when I hear Barbra's perfect voice from her peak years, singing those stories like she lived them, she can make me cry like a little baby 👶😢 A singular sublime talent we'll never see the likes of again.
I have always loved this woman and always will. What an incredible voice and stage presence. She is just everything when she is on that stage. You can't take your eyes off her. Magnificent talent.
Barbara Streisand's voice and talent is rare. . I know she did not want to be a singer. She is a brilliant actress and director, (musical, drama, comedy), but when I hear her voice in her movies, I get goosebumps.
See if you can listen to the recording of her singing when she was a little girl. It's all there, way back then. She was around thirteen. The timing, and the sense of getting inside the song are all there. I THINK she's singing a song from Guys and Dolls.
My very disabled great grandson goes her so much. He's non verbal and can't walk or play. Music puts him in such a calming state of mind and can listen all day. He loves Barbra, Celine Dion and Celtic women. However, Barbara and Celine are his favorites. So much talent.
I fell in love with Barbara when I saw, "A Star is Born." Her unique beauty and amazing voice resonated with me and has remained just as vivid and strong as it was when I was 14. "Evergreen" was the first song I ever sang in front on an audience, and when I held that note on ..."' 'cause we have the brightest love...", the audience clapped and I was in songstress heaven. Barbra Streisand is the G.O.A.T and when listen to her today, I am still as awestruck as I was all those years ago.
I was sooo lucky to meet Barbra in Mendocino, CA, she was very nice and warm, walking her little dog with her hubby. Then I was able to see her perform in Las Vegas, NV... what a dream come true.
Being of a certain age...Thoroughly enjoyed the footage. Many of her movies I recall watching mesmerised & in wonderment, the Golden age of Hollywood. Some might argue the tail end, Cest la vie! Holidays & a rare week night were made more magical watching her movies & those of that vintage. Go on 🎥🎭💯
The best interview of Barbra -- the most natural and human -- that I've seen in a long, long time. Of course it's superbly edited, but even at that (or perhaps, in part, because of it) it's an absolute gem. Bravo!
Perfect Imperfection! This is what I think about Barbra Streisand. What a legend! To say she’s unique, doesn’t do her justice. And at 81, she is still beautiful inside and out. ❤
She is legend and has one of the most beautiful voice I have heard and learned to love. her voice is healing and magical I hope I would be able to see her someday soon. I wish her health and happiness as long as she lives. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

@@SomeGuy-mg5jy My friend received a hand written note from Bette Davis which he framed.
Pleased for you.
She followed her own heart and direction and that's actually pretty rare. I love that she's not a follower but set her own path.
@@JoanneJaworski,
That’s absolutely right. That’s what makes her so special.❤

I loved reading this, I completely get it. ❤
Can anyone tell me title of her latest book?
Wow! I was so fortunate to have gotten a hug from such an icon!!
What a lovely story! I'm also so jealous! But it's wonderful to hear that one of your idols was just as lovely as you hope they are ❤
I can only sigh. I loved your story. Thank you very much for sharing it with us.
Was she more generous, with a gratuity, than the wealthy passengers on your other private jet flights? It's one thing to give a hug, it's another thing to discretely pass over an envelope with, what to her would be a trivial amount of cash.
What is the etiquette regarding tipping on private flights to crew members? Thanks!
Wow, thanks for sharing
I was just a teenager when the way we were came out. But I was mesmerized.. not only by Robert Redford and His handsome self but also by Barbra Streisand and her unbelievable portrayal and the god-given gift of her song. I'm 66 years old now but I still remember how I felt when I watched that movie.😊
Me too! First grown up movie ❤
I just watched it last night. That movie is timeless!
one of my favorite movies, a beautiful tear-jerker. was 10 when her album 'my name is barbra' came out.
Her duet with Donna Summer on "No More Tears" is a masterpiece.
You should hear her duet with Jamie Foxx "Climb Ev'ry Mountain." Sublime!
Yep, so good.
Another great vocalist.
For "Enough is Enough" Barbra was huffin' and puffin' trying to keep up with the fantastic voice of Donna Summer. No contest. Donna had the better pipes and breath control.
@@JackMason-oq8lfuh, that would be a no from me. First of all, they are two different singers.
Hubby and I also picked Evergreen for our wedding in 1982. When did you marry? 😊
Her voice was going down hill in 2016 let alone 2023.
She has never liked sining in public due to stage fright...there is absolutely nothing wrong with her voice
I can see Jennifer Lawrence playing her.
That would be interesting and Streisand as the director.

There is no one like her.

Oh my goodness…”What’s up doc” is one of the funniest movies ever created,it’s our family’s favorite movie besides “It’s a mad mad mad world “😂😂😂❤
I just remembered this in case you haven’t seen this movie of Barbra’s called “The owl and the pussycat”…it’s hysterical!!
I love her so. she is just the epitome of total greatness!
I just finished her memoir. Fabulous! It took me awhile, because it's very detailed, very long. Loved it! She's amazing. What a treasure.
Her music imbues me with every conceivable human emotion. 👏🏽💕
Her voice is PHENOMENAL. It's unmatchable.
I love her and her amazing voice, but she does have a sister who is also a singer and surprise, surprise, she sounds a lot like Barbra, but that is where the similarity ends.
Wow that should be a museum, she should put her costumes on display! And doesn’t she look well! An amazing singer.
💙❤️💜 what she had to say at the end of this segment. She's happy when she can make a difference in other's lives. Props!!!
I actually started clapping and crying at the end of this piece! I have loved Barbra since I was about 7 years old, as my dad absolutely loved her records and would play them at home with some frequency. Since then, I have watched every movie and practiced singing to her a million times...what an utterly irreplaceable dame.
The Mirror Has Two Faces is one of MY MOST FAVORITE movies of all time! Barbra's voice is one of a kind phenomenal!!!!!!
It's FREE on Pluto TV now. Going to watch it myself, now!
Same here, it's her most underrated film.
I too love the fact that she kept her nose. I wonder if a nose job would’ve altered her voice.
Like Butta!
What a great memory! I can only image what a great experience that must have been. 💕
What a fantastic experience and memory! 🌟
Like buttah, indeed!
❤Barbra. She is one of my fav singers😊
LOVE Nancy Wilson ! 👍💞
*Barbra *are rare
See if you can listen to the recording of her singing when she was a little girl. It's all there, way back then. She was around thirteen. The timing, and the sense of getting inside the song are all there. I THINK she's singing a song from Guys and Dolls.
My very disabled great grandson goes her so much. He's non verbal and can't walk or play. Music puts him in such a calming state of mind and can listen all day. He loves Barbra, Celine Dion and Celtic women. However, Barbara and Celine are his favorites. So much talent.
She is wonderfully, playfully fabulous!! I have adored her for years!!
Amazing woman, just amazing.
Go on 🎥🎭💯
Genuine WOW She is a 100% gift to the world!
Thanks for sharing your journey. The Wonderful voice you have given to so many Memorable songs! In the movies you shone like a ⭐!
