Since, you're new, she is, in fact immortal and is the leader of the fae. She's Norwegian, so that's a reason you're getting those vibes. Her voice carries your broken hearts through the wind and then sinks them into moss where they can grow back healed and whole.
Not the first time I've watched this reaction, and in fact I've watched approximately one million other Aurora reactions too. But your comments at the end struck me. On an intellectual level, you certainly wouldn't want an artist in their own world, disconnected from the audience. But with Aurora, she's the most captivating artist I've ever seen, and part of that is because of how the music encapsulates her entire being, and we're just witnesses. I think it works for her because her voice is so unique and expressive, and everything about her is authentic. So you're drawn in, even if you're not necessarily included. Having said that, she's grown as a performer over the years, and she now connects very much with her audience. And yet, I find her very much just as captivating. 🤷♂️
Aurora's performance of Murder Song at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony has to be on the list. Honestly, all of her live performances are so good. Both the covers and original material
Ahh wait, your first time listening to Aurora? Mate you're in for a treat. Her entire discography is a whole universe instead of a rabbithole. Can't be at the premiere though as I will be at work 😅 Have fun!
You should REALLY listen to her live version at Nidorasdomen, an ancient church, where she just BELTS this song with full orchestral and choral backing... Just to see the difference. This one is so intimate and delicate, and the Nidorasdomen one is so very different and energetic yet still so great. Highly recommended. I think seeing the reaction to the difference between 2 separate performances and environments would be fun to see. You won't be disappointed.
I stopped at 9:46 at your comments. The song is hard to take in, but the lyric is .. undeniable. She makes this so beautiful, but.. the song is about rape. This young woman is so strong, so brave, absolutely incredible. Despite the minors she beautifies this with her tone. But it is devastating. Love Is Wild is such brave brave incredible lyric here. Genius. I "discovered" her yesterday and have ordered her whole catalogue. Ive been writing songs for 40 years and think I am a good lyricist, but I could never write the way that she does (even when we write the same subjects like hidden human potential and strength) - its just one of the reasons I already love her. She is quickly rising to the top of the world for those who move with intelligence and sensitivity. In this fragile and vulnerable song she emerges not only a survivor but as champion. The other party is a stone who is now mere sand (in Runaway she picks up a face of sand on the beach and it disappears). She is a powerful force in this troubled world and I for one will begin trumpeting her! ... ps always like your reactions Julia
She does a version of a song with Wardruna called Helvegen that is another episode of otherworldly, especially against Einar’s solid wall sound. You’re mentioning how she might mesh with another vocalist who has a harder sound, and her presence on that version of Helvegen is a good example. Worth a look some day, Julia.
Murder song at the Nobel awards is phenomenal..!!!! Also her cover of god is a woman especially considering she had an hour to prepare her cover and fully makes the song her own..!!!! The world doesn’t deserve this young lady..!!
Welcome to the completely special world of Aurora! You have a wealth of discovery ahead. Love your reaction, btw. I appreciate when I learn more about "why" I am so taken by an artist's music. I learned, in this video, more I didn't know about time signatures. Aurora has no formal musical training. It's all just her being who she is. And she has picked up musical influences from a wide variety of sources. (As evidenced in past interviews). Silja is an accomplished singer/songwriter on her own. But her and Aurora's voices are absolutely perfect with each other, imo. If you continue to follow Aurora, you will discover that her male band members' voices also blend perfectly. All of her songs are story/songs. And no two are alike. A lot of different styles of "painting" the picture she wants to paint with that song - that message. Most of her songs speak of the struggles that we humans face. She is a keen observer of human nature, whether or not the experiences she describes are what she, herself, has gone through. And, yes, she completely disappears into the song she is singing. At the same time, all of her songs give hope along with the incredible wrench into our hearts and souls. Someone has compared her songs with sound healing. I totally agree!
Aurora is a gift from the forests, mountains and fjords. She has the wisdom of the ages in her soul and it comes to us through her lyrics and spellbinding performances.
Your explanation of how she looks when she performs was so spot on, I'm always wondering where she is, It's so cool/cute she petty much pulls you in with all her performances
First time heard Aurora was during a summer festival. Her voice called me in to the tent where She and her band was performing ( I was planning to listen to another artist). That 30min is still one of the best in my life. I felt like I was up on stage and just dancing around with her. Amazing artist and her precence is breathtaking.
I've never heard Aurora before, but found her performance magical, not off-putting at all. Humans sometimes manifest differently, especially to create extraordinary things. Wonderful. Great reaction and analysis as always, Julia.
I feel like instead of going into her own world, she takes the audience there with her through the image she paints with her lyrics, her voice, her facial expressions and movements. For me, particularly, it’s an immersive experience rather than alienating.
I like that you take your task seriously and actually pay attention and have meaningful things to say...that is not the case with most "reactors". Of the Aurora performances I have seen, this is my favorite...a beautiful, intimate and creative song delivered with full engagement and precision. Her voice is not big by any stretch but she takes full advantage of its child like quality and engages the listener in a way that is really irresistible. Really special.
Loved when she performed Bowie's "Life on Mars" - made it her own and especially right after his death it was a very powerful tribute. She's got a gift, that's for sure.
I’m glad you mentioned seeing the feathers falling in slow motion, like a snippet of a moment of time. I see so vividly like a surreal small cabin or something and like... you can’t see what happened to cause it but you just enter the cabin through a window or something and see the feathers falling slowly and you know something bad has happened you just can’t see it in your frame.
I love watching first time reactions to hearing Aurora. She is so special. Her music seems to open hearts in way that people sorely need. I think that's why so many Aurora fans become devotees. You just need her sound to end your day on a deep and very human note.
She is indeed in her own world. She just visits ours through the veil of music. You were expecting fairies to show up early on, not realizing one was right before you! :D People flock to witness her otherworldly beauty.
Finaly Aurora!!! Thank you Julia!!! Loved your reaction!!! Welcome to the music of Aurora! There is so much beautiful music here in Auroraworld. I hope you'll listen to more!? Be safe Björn
Aurora said in a tv interview that the creativ process in making songs and having the control in the studio, to do what ever you want is liberating, but ones you perform the song live on stage it's out of your hands. You as an artist isn't important anymore. it's all about the song and she is just a tool, a vessel to the song. It comes to her from somewhere and goes through her out to us all. That's why she is so in the moment. Be safe Björn
Missed the premiere but so happy you checked her out! Aurora is a powerhouse and a great story-teller, always with her animated hand movements whenever she performs. Today I learned about triplet quaver pulses. Time-form? Ahahaha never heard of that 😆 I'm excited for you to check out more from Aurora, her music is a perfect amalgamation of genre-bending :)
Aurora and Silja Sol in this performance deliver beutiful harmonies. I love her and her band, I hope you will react to more of her. All her live performances are a treat.
FINALLY!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼I’m so happy you finally reacted to Aurora! I’ve been following you for a while and I was so thrilled when I saw you finally got to know her. You definitely have to listen to her live concert at Nidarosdomen. It’s from another world. If you react to it I would happily watch your reaction even if the video is more than 1 or 2 hours long 😅
Welcome to the family!!!!! Total genuineness and beautiful. She is a free spirit which opens your mind, soul and heart for sure. Glad that you take this performance.
I think the reason Aurora doesn't lose the listener when she goes so deeply into her experience, is that she draws us in with her. It doesn't feel like she went somewhere else, It feels like she's taking you somewhere.
Yes, the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert will be perfect for you. Runaway or Murder Song, or why not both? Think you will be even more in love with her talent and writing and performing skills. She's just amazing.
Someone said in one of the comment sections, that the way "Aurora pronounces the word "pillow" makes me feel like my pillow is a burlap bag full of rocks"...I agree much. And the phrase "time is standing still", is very expressive, in an intensely personal way.
People are really put off by artists that go into themselves when they perform? I dont understand why. I mean how much more genuine can you get? Isnt that exactly what you want from artists? To be transformed by the art they make and allow us to witness that effect? Its like they are baring their soul. I love it. Its amazing to watch. And Aurora does it a lot. I have seen her perform certain songs and when she finishes its like shes coming out of a trance and shes suddenly surprised to see an audience staring at her. Some songs move her so much that she has to get it back together to perform the next song. I LOVE that... Its so personal and so giving of her to allow us to witness it.
Aurora really is in a league of her own, so happy to see you go down this magical wonderland as well. My suggestions would be: The Seed - a bit more uptempo and with a message that hits you like a gut punch. Runaway - a dive into her early days, I believe she was 12 or 13 when she wrote this one. God Is A Woman - a cover she got 1 hour to prepare for.
@@LeandroSilva-vf6fy She started writing Runaway when she was 11 years old. She finished it when she was 13. She started on Lucky when she was 9 years old.
Not the first time I've watched somebody analysing this song, but the first time I've seen you... Not disappointed! I really like how you take it apart and how you explain the things that you notice... about the singing.. about the music. Nice! (and I get how much you like this performance! .. so do I!)
More Arora please. Live music with audience. Yes, she partly seems to exist in a different world, also in her concerts. But that's not strange because she takes us there.
What I find extremely interesting about this song is that (in my interpretation) it is about violence in a toxic relationship. Usually, people involved in this sort of relationships tend to be in denial of the situation... and I think Aurora is reflecting that mindset, her character is painting every violent scene with nice words and nice imagery... where in fact, the "reality" is far from beautiful....
Aurora is an angel, a fairy, a goddess of nature. When you listen to her music you are enchanted forever. Thank you for reacting to her hehe love your vids btw ❤
I am really happy your have reacted to Aurora :) I only discovered her less than three months ago and have been absolutely captivated ever since! I find watching her perform is more powerful than just listening to the songs, her expressions and hand movement just push the lyrics home.
one of the things she did was actually ACT the song! as an amateur engineer, I promise that comes across the electronica even if you can't see it. This really is a performance piece and stands up to scrutiny from a strictly audio sense as well. (and I NEVER heard of her before!) my loss, but thank you for the introduction!
I've seen people say Aurora describe It Happened Quite as a prequel to Murder Song. Assuming that's true, this song could be seen as life flashing before her eyes before the act. The first verse seeming more light and carefree, like happy lovers, but then describing the hardships the relationship faced, possibly because of the hard choice in murder song coming up. Plus the repeated mention of red and her falling body. I think it makes sense if it's followed immediately by Murder Song, which is frequently viewed from the point of view of her spirit at/shortly after the act. And she has definitely described that song as a tragic love story about true love. Or, I may just be over thinking it all...
I can quite imagine that she would do all those motions with or without camera. She's so connected to the music, and every motion helps you to understand the story she's telling? Living? Also - loving the additional side graphics on the musical concepts. They must take some time to do and edit in, so thank you!
Aurora is a gift from God, she sings emotion, spirit, energy, her voice will mesmerise anyone. No words are good enough. Beautiful singing voice of a angel 😇
The version of this she did at Nidarosdomen was not only more powerful but it was unaccompanied so you can hear her voice more clearly. Also, the cathedral setting makes everything (including the instruments) sound so intense.
As someone who has seen Aurora live and literally cried for 3 songs straight - the way she becomes the song is definitely not off putting, it's absolutely wonderful
You have my full deep sincere appreciation for not just babbling all the time over the performance you are reacting to pausing every couple of seconds and taking your time to write your thoughts over it. It makes the whole reaction so much easier to understand and overall tidy and neat. Dig deeper on aurora sometimes, there's a humongous amount of stuff to react to.
Well done and thank you, I ALWAYS enjoy your comments and analysis. I think you picked up correctly that Aurora 's movements while singing are spontaneous, as if she can't help but move. I have seen an interview in which she said she was just appalled when she saw video of herself singing, and there are a couple of very early videos of her where she spends a lot of time with her hands clutching her skirt at her side. Looked like she was really struggling to control herself. I'm glad that at some point she decided to accept and embrace the movement, it does seem so natural for her.
Oh my God! I asked you for this very reaction 2 weeks ago. Thanks for reacting to her music, you will see that it's a real magical journey to dive into her music. Your reaction, emotional and technical, perfect. Thanks again.
I think the first song I ever heard of hers was It Happened Quiet - a duet with a female guitarist and I was blown away by her dynamic range, technique and performance - it was literally stunning - like the first time I heard Kate Bush 40 plus years ago - but with much, much more technique on display. Aurora is totally captivating - great reaction and glad she is on your radar now!
What an amazing analysis! I don't understand the technical explanations but your descriptions of wondering about what she is thinking and seeing are spot-on for me. She is in her own world when she sings and her musicality is on another level for me.
The accompaniment(?) was super impressive, keeping track of all those vocal dynamic changes while playing the guitar and keeping the beat(?). You mentioned briefly, but if those backing vocals didn't follow along dynamically the vibe would have been off? Super cool song!!!
I love it when you take the time to write out the explanations for your lingo, & I still feel like a plebe after reading said explanations. While I may have been enjoying music for longer than you have, you are decades ahead of me in your understanding of it. I keep hoping if I just listen to you explain it long enough some of your knowledge will transfer over.
Great react! Her movements and sounds: she will do "anything" to get the feeling in the sound so the "message" gets out .. You can clearly see a difference from her early work until now; her movements where more xtreme before.... no they are more "in the song" :-) We must also remember that this artist was no artist... she did not want to be one... she became one by accident almost.
Since, you're new, she is, in fact immortal and is the leader of the fae. She's Norwegian, so that's a reason you're getting those vibes. Her voice carries your broken hearts through the wind and then sinks them into moss where they can grow back healed and whole.
My god, you said that beautiful. Aurora is the voice of our feelings and you made it a sentence. Thank you
Well put! Kudos!
I wouldn’t say she’s the leader of the fae. The fae are all equal, there is no social distinction between them. I agree with everything else.

More Arora please. Live music with audience. Yes, she partly seems to exist in a different world, also in her concerts. But that's not strange because she takes us there.
Love Aurora so much ❤️❤️❤️
What I find extremely interesting about this song is that (in my interpretation) it is about violence in a toxic relationship. Usually, people involved in this sort of relationships tend to be in denial of the situation... and I think Aurora is reflecting that mindset, her character is painting every violent scene with nice words and nice imagery... where in fact, the "reality" is far from beautiful....
You’re spot on with this interpretation. This song is part of a trilogy with Murder Song and Churchyard.
Aurora has an enchanting aura in her music - holy sh!t 👀
Thank you Julia. You really need to continue. This girl is quite something. Im at an age that not many thing pique my interrest anymore. She did.
Aurora is a gift from God, she is the 5th Element and must be protected at all costs
Aurora is an angel, a fairy, a goddess of nature. When you listen to her music you are enchanted forever. Thank you for reacting to her hehe love your vids btw ❤
Aurora is almost performance art more so than music!
I am really happy your have reacted to Aurora :) I only discovered her less than three months ago and have been absolutely captivated ever since! I find watching her perform is more powerful than just listening to the songs, her expressions and hand movement just push the lyrics home.
story is great. this song is a master piece.
one of the things she did was actually ACT the song! as an amateur engineer, I promise that comes across the electronica even if you can't see it.
Ahh amazing! Please listen to her work with Wardruna as well. Definitely an amazing mix.
This! Helvegen with Aurora & Wardruna... stunning! 👍🏻
I saw another reactor do this video a few months ago and its actually how I discovered Aurora.
Ahhhhh finally ❤ Aurora is love ❤
Her cover of Teardrop is INSANE... and she is truly unique as a singer and artist
I absolutely love the way her performance is so other worldly. It draws me right in there with her. Great reaction.
Re-watching this reaction again. LOVED IT!
Stunning voice. Reminiscent of
Dolores O'Riordan from The Cranberries. She connects so well with her lyrics. This was beautiful, thank you Julia.
Yes!!! So glad you are reacting
to her
Great react! Her movements and sounds: she will do "anything" to get the feeling in the sound so the "message" gets out ..
You can clearly see a difference from her early work until now; her movements where more xtreme before.... no they are more "in the song" :-)
We must also remember that this artist was no artist... she did not want to be one... she became one by accident almost.
Aurora is truly a free spirit - her music has such an emotional and tribal feeling in the percussion sometimes and its so magical 🥰🥰
i would also suggest either gentle earthquake or churchyard live on KEXP to react to next!!
