Holy Cow what a Spectacular day you had...those coins are huge and looked thick and heavy with absolutely amazing detail for 700+ years old! This is a lesson to always check around the area whenever you have a good find... just as well you went back to that area.. what a day... beautiful
Yes its really amazing how these events unfolded. That field to me is known as the 'dead' field as I never ever find anything in it, but I usually walk through it to get to other more productive fields. Then on this day that happened!! I since been all over it again and had 2 friends with me go all over it and we did not find any more or anything much to be honest. You will see in a future video I and 2 friends camped in this field for 2 nights in summer and detected by day. It was an amazing experience!! Those coins are now at Derby museum going through the treasure act

That first hammered is an absolute beaut and looks like it’s just been struck. Many congrats for the hours put in paying off. We’ll need an update tour of that finds cabinet soon!

Well before this I used to call that particular field the 'dead' field as I only ever found 1 coin in there on several visits. It was so bad that I didnt bother detecting it anymore. But this occassion I was passing through to get to my favourite field n boom 3 silver hammered. You just never know in this hobby! Hope Valencia in Spain is nice warm and Covid free?
That was a seriously good day, cant believe you did not stick around the area from the first coin, just glad you went back. Let’s hope there are more in the area.
I've never found more than 1 before so just thought it would be a one off. I walk through that field to get to other fields. So on ky way back to the car I just wanted to have a moment where ai found that 1st wondeddul hammered. Then I hit the 2nd signal which was identical !!! Quickly followed by the 3rd. Incredible day for me. Thank you for watching 😁🍺

Thanks Nat. Unfortunately my microphone unknowingly died during this hunt resulting in some of the clips been silent or with horrendous distortian. It was hearbreaking when I found out. It was maybe 5 or 6 clips I had to rebuild with voiceover, detector sounds, background noises etc. It took me about 10 hours to do. It was the best I could do. I have since upgraded to a new and improved mic

7 years of experience learning machines, learning the land. Once you master a machine you will know the size of a target and the depth of a target from the signal. You receive a lit of information from that beep from your machine 😁

Astounding finds. I don't think I've ever seen two coins of that size and age found in such good condition. Well struck, clear and it didn't look like there was even a bend in them. It was definitely your day!
They may not get the overall wow factor that gold coins or a bronze age hoard may get, by they are certainly spectacular in their own right, and to follow it up with a third smaller one just topped it off. Well done, buddy

Can’t wait for later mate!! I had a heart stopping moment today out detecting, thought I’d found my first ever gold coin, turned out to be a silver shilling that was stained yellow!!! Bugger!! However found two silver George V shillings in ten minutes, couldn’t believe it, then the rest of the search went pretty quiet... strange old game this detecting but it’s so bloody lovely and addictive!!! Much love 👌👍
Cheers Neil, I have a couple of permissions where silvers come up yellow. An over night bath in lemon juice followed by a cotton bud will have it in gleaming condition 😁

Hi Samantha, I've been detecting 7 years now pretty much 10-15 hours a week every week. On a good year I find 3 hammereds, so this for me was simply breathtaling 😁 Derbyshire pasture not an easy place to find hammered

Have made the effort to make the effort to get out at least once a week if not twice. Life is not all about working.. You are right mate has to be more to life than work. I been doin 50 hour weeks at work all through covid but still managing to detect, edit and be a dad. Life is hectic, when im out in the fields i am relaxed and peaceful 😁

I found a Henry the v111sovereign silver hammered penny on my own permission on the Saturday, two days before you. And got a good stroke of luck managed to bag myself a new job. @@andrewtiffin4043 thank you Andrew its very nice to be appreciated. You guys only see the 15 to 20 minute 'highlite' video. But theres the 4 - 6 hours of digging junk, walking mile after mile then sitting down on the laptop for 4 or 5 hours just to get 1 video uploaded per week. BUT I love doing it, I have found what I am passionate about, it really is the best hobby in the world 😁
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire I totally respect the 6 hours of digging junk mate that happens to me all the time but when the bug has got hold of us we keep going out and your videos show that you keep putting the hard work in then one day good times happen. I’ve only been doing it just over 14months but it truly is the best hobby going, especially out in the country side. As for the 4 hours in front of the laptop I will leave that to you pal (laptops aren’t for me) but I’m glad you do it. Look forward to your next video and good luck bud

Hi Katie, thanks for the feedback. I have been metal detecting for 7 years now and have spent a huge chunk of my life marching up n down fields, knocking on doors trying to get permissions. A lot of hard work has gone into this, yes a bit of luck on the day walking in the right spot. Bit finds like this are inevitable when your as dedicated and hard working as I am.
With regards to getting new permissions you gotta be in the right place at the right time and be prepared to knock on a LOT of doors. But once you get one, then you get another, then they keep adding up 😁

I can imagine in 7 years just how much hard work you’ve put into this I take my hat off to you. Confidence is a massive issue and I know that is holding me back but I’ll just do it,I do have two permissions but I’ve found nothing at all but iron haha. Thanks for the reply,sometimes all it takes is a Stranger with positive words.
I'm 39 and never had any confidence, always been a very shy person. Although you might not think that in my videos 🤣 What detector are you using? You need to spend huge amounts of time learning your machine. I have racked up well over 2,000 hours using my current machine which gives me a massive advantage when out detecting. Its hobby that requires a lot of patience 😁
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire late reply here! I had a crap detector to be fair wasnt of any make or model haha 😂 I have a Garrett ace 200i now I think it is. Found 3 coins and 4 buttons so far. Coins are toasted though as you say ha. You’ve given me the confidence to go and door knock for permissions when the world is allowed back out. It’s really exciting stuff and when you find something the buzz is incredible isn’t it. I’ve a long way to go yet but so far so good! Thankyou for you advice and help
You know what .... there is a double whammy going on here . Firstly we have the excitement of the astounding treasure finds . And my goodness what finds they were ! But personally , I found the actual finds almost shadowed by the superb presentation . These videos are not just worthy of the suchlike of Channel 4 or BBC2 on a weekly basis , but would be highlights of these channels without doubt. You defo havd an appeal akin to the Detectorists without a doubt and would be enjoyed on the same scale if only given the chance .The thought of taking a hammered coin to a natural stream to clean , therefore paying respect to both in fact ! And repeating each time . The music . The effects . The attention and time to scenery and detail . The feelgood factor . You have it all Duke and I cannot believe your adventures will stay on TH-cam for much longer . You have the X factor to move onto much bigger things and like your finds in this vid , you totally deserve them mate . We honestly found this vid quite emmotional .

Ayup Gordon, this was probably the highlite of 2021 for me - despite becoming a father for the 1st time (don't tell my missus 🤣) and finding 2 gold coins this year. This find is currently going through the treasure process. What a buzz it was pulling those out 😁

Hi Robbie totally agree mate, I call this field the 'dead' field as on previous visits only ever found 1 coin. I walk through to get to my fave field so always have the machine on n boom - one of my best ever mornings detecting! Best hobby in the world 😁🍻

Thank you, there were 2 groats and 1 half penny. I feel very lucky to have found them, finding hammered on Derbyshire pasture is not easy, I get maybe 3 a year at best. So 3 in 1 day is the stuff of dreams 😁

Morning Jester, I've got a couple more videos coming up on this permission including one in the snow which was a lot of fun! I very rarely detect new permissions, always detect same ones over and over, some I have been on upwards of 50 times and they still produce! Some places finds are becoming few n far between but I keep on hitting them. Cheers for taking the time to watch and comment 😁🍺
