  • Donna Woodward, aka "Woody" was a real Jane-of-all-trades, and a fixture in the Boston motorcycling community. This Suzuki was a bike that Woody purchased to replace her 75 /5 BMW that she would ride each year to Daytona for Bike Week. Once she started having issues with her health, she bought this Suzuki to keep at a friend's house so she could ride it in Daytona for bike week. Woody's story is unique. She would take on odd jobs throughout her life in order support her motorcycle trips. She was originally trained as an archaeologist, but also did carpentry. She went to Peru, toured North Africa by motorcycle. When she turned 50, she celebrated by buying a ticket to Thailand, she bought a beater motorcycle, toured Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, during which she earned money training elephants. Later on in life she wanted to go to Australia so she worked on a freighter to get herself there, bought another beater motorcycle to tour, and returned on a freighter at the conclusion of her trip. When Woody started having knee troubles she drove limousines in the Boston area, and had a real following, catering to the likes of Lily Tomlin and Ellen Degeneres' parents. It was only fitting that we shared her story along with "Suzi." This motorcycle was donated to us by the Moving Violations Motorcycle Club out of Boston, of which Woody was a long time member. We did not attempt to restore this motorcycle however we gave it a good cleaning, new speedo cable, battery, oil and filter, spark plugs, new front brake master cylinder, rebuilt front brake caliper and cleaned the carburetors. We also purchased an OEM Suzuki side cover for it, as well as a side cover emblem from Paul Miller Suzuki. Bike runs good, everything works, as shown. Front tire has some weather cracking, we would recommend a new set of tires soon. It is a very decent running, unrestored motorcycle with lots of patina. Tank needs a good rinse. Tires are fair, a little bit of rust here and there. Possible low cost shipping upon request. Portions of the profits will be donated back to Women's Motorcycle Foundation.

Nice clean up, but prefer the original front fender. It's got a nice shape.

A wonderful history! A nice bike and sounds like 1100! Seems to pull nice and smooth, too.

That is a 1978 as the 1977 was the only year they did not have disk breaks and spoke wheels. Perhaps the front disks were aftermarket? I love my 77 GS550.
