Hello, I’m a Dominican Jew and am hosting a Shabbat (Sabbath) dinner. I purchased Kosher ingredients so that I can replicate your dish. My guests are going to love this dish! Thank you for your wonderful meal suggestions. 🇮🇱🇩🇴❤
First of all Thank you!! Lol. So I’m Dominican and I thought I knew how to cook a little and after following a bunch of your recipes I realized I knew nothing. So not sure if you know about Ramadan but it just ended yesterday and I found your Chanel at the beginning of Ramadan. Heaven sent! We don’t eat all day and when we finally do the pressure is real to eat something delicious because you can’t taste what your eating. I followed your recipes and 100% of the time dinner was amazing (without me tasting it) so thank you. You saved my Ramadan lol.
You are so very welcome!!!! I'm so happy to hear that you tried the recipes and enjoyed them. That truly brings joy to my heart. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
I hang around a lot with people from the Caribbean. A while ago, I met this Dominican guy who is a chef. He told me try to taste some authentic Dominican food (we don't have a big Dominican community here, but we seem te have 1 small restaurant, and one private restaurant here that serve authentic Dominican food). So I did, and my God the Dominican cuisine went into my top 10 best cuisines right away 👌🏻. I was wandering how te get some more info about it, so I found a few information resources, but wasn't satisfied (ingredients were changed for example, like just salt instead of adobo). Thank God I found you. Got subscribed, and will share your channel with my friends. Thank you kindly for sharing your recipes. Love and respect from The Netherland ✌🏻
I did exactly what you said and use what you used, it was a hit and everyone loved it and was like wow its good you know how to cook different types of food... Thank you soooooo much for your guidance. I will be looking for more things to cook.
I know this an oldie for you, but I just recently started following you and I’m obsessed. Made this and the whole family is eating it! I have extremely picky eaters at home( 2 oldest kids) and they are like mom this chicken is amazing! Makes my heart warm as I’m Dominican and Colombian and seeing your kids eat the food you ate as a kid makes your heart skip a beat!
Yesss we Trinis 🇹🇹 call this 'Stew Chicken' but I ALWAYS have trouble caramelizing the sugar in the oil, so inadvertently I make it like your way! It's funny we love it with rice n beans too, plantains and avocado :) Different island but similar recipes, thanks!!!
+Staci Mathura different islands but i always say that Caribbean people have more in common than we think!Lol my Best friend is Trini and i LOVE trini food! Thanks for watching!
This recipe saved me. I am also a Trini and have family who are diabetics. So this taught how to brown with skipping the sugar. I like this. Thank you!!!!
I can see how the sopita could be an issue for some people, including me, not the healthiest choice but there are other alternatives one can use that Chef Zee has actually suggested....such as kosher salt or any other ingredients of your choice to give the saltiness to your dish....also, I remember in one other video that she posted, I believe the one with albondigas dominicanas, where she said her recipes are inspired on meals from her childhood, food her abuelita used to make...and you all know that all abuelitas’ kitchen have their sopita hidden in their pantry...it’s a must! Like lime, cebolla and garlic. Instead of hating on her videos and her choices of ingredients, maybe ask for substitutes... Thanks @chefzee for this marvelous video,. So far I’ve made two of your dishes and they have been a total success!
This was one of my earliest videos. And since then I have substituted many of the ingredients with better options. Cooking styles evolve but I also like to mention more traditional ways of making dishes. People on the internet will have something negative to say and it’s tough to please everyone. Thank you for speaking up!
I'm Mexican-American from Los Angeles, CA and I'm not familiar with Dominican food but this looks so delicious. I wanna try it! Thanks for sharing your recipe and video. 😍
yo zee, I made it for the first time and everyone loved it over here in Long Island, came out a bit salty, but this was just a test run, the next time it’s going to be on point! Thanks for the recipe
Hello! Just wanted to tell you that I LOVE your channel. I am located in Germany but I used to live in the Dominican Republic for a few years. Lately I have been missing that very special taste of guisado de pollo, locrio de pollo, tostones, flan de leche etc. Your recipes made it possible for me to recreate a typical Dominican dish, right here in Germany. Thanks to online shopping (I bought presidente!) and local asian markets it was possible for me to find all of the ingredients. My friends who have never been to D.R. loved it too. Thank you! And also: It is really fun and inspiring to watch you cook.
As a Southerner from the US my wife and I just tried Dominican food less than a year ago. We simply LOVE IT!!! Now I'm here to impress my lady on the kitchen. Thanks for your videos. You are a good cook and your videos speak volumes for themselves. Greeting from North Carolina. If you want to try one of our staples of the South, check out the video "How to cook Southern style stewed chicken" video on the YT channel Ray Mack's Kitchen and Grill. You will not be disappointed. God bless. 🙏
Oh YEAH!!!! I am cooking this today , THANK YOU. I want to expose my kids to Dominican cooking from my Homeland and your videos will help me do that. Keep up the good work
Thank you so much for this recipe! Where i used to live we had this wonderful Dominican restaurant that served this and I have been CRAVING it! We don't have any restaurants like it around here, I'm going to make this tonight and reminisce!
You have been teaching me how to cook and I’m super thankful.. so far black beans (easy way) and now pollo guisado.. Ans I’ve never cooked so it’s amazing for me to be able to follow your steps.. God bless you and your channel! 🙏🏽 Thank you.
Just tried Pollo Guisado for the first time. Her smile is so captivating. I couldn't help but watch. She reminded me of Giada, but chicken was that chicken was of the chain!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think she just became my favorite chef.. Great dish with so many different flavor fighting for position on my taste buds. I'll sleep good tonight.
I am loving your Dominican recipes! Love Caribbean food and all Latin food as well.......all food across the globe actually! Your pollo looks so pretty; just perfect to serve.
Made this comfort food tonight for my family and it met all of our expectations! Thank you. I usually wing it but with this recipe, dinner was ready in 45 minutes from prep to table. I did add half of a sazon packet to give it that reddish color. Delicioso!
Zeeeeee! Thank you very much for your recipes... I love your videos, they are very helpful and the food is very tasteful. I made this dish for my family and they loved it, everyone ate double! Coming from a Guatemalan family with a dominican boyfriend its hard for me to make traditional dishes for him but you're a lifesaver. May God truly bless you and please dont stop sharing your recipes.
Chef you are incredible!I made rabos following your video two days ago and they came out so much like my grandmothers I nearly cried. I’ll be seasoning my pollo today while watching this one too 😁. Thank you, God bless!
I learned something very good this cuarentena to prepare a delicious pollito guisado. So delicious. Thanks for sharing with us. Saludos desde New York City a Ecuadorian Family
Wow ... this dish had my husband finger licking his fingers 😀 I come from a Ecuadorian family and i wanted to change it up since my husband it dominican ... he loved it thank you
que simpática eres, se te ve bien natural tu forma y tu estilo de cocina es bien tradicional, lo cual es bastante bueno. Sigue haciendo el buen trabajo que haces!
Once again another amazing recipe! This is the 2nd time I've made this with your recipe. Except the 1st time I didn't use olives. But my mom and her friend came to visit last time and almost liked the plate clean! Thank you so much for your great recipes and I love your presentation!
Tried this for dinner tonight.. absolutely amazing and easy. I’ve made it before but it was way more complicated with the sugar. This was simple and I even used my food processor threw in all the vegetables. Lol couldn’t get any more easier than this recipe. Thank you so much for sharing and making recipes easy for us!!! Oh I used boneless skinless chicken thighs.. still came out amazing
You have became my new favorite youtube. I am marring a Dominican and all thee dishes him and his family have cooked for me I would love to do for him. thank you so much for being a life saver!
Just moved to Va. my husband is Dominican and grew up in the heights. Boy do I miss my chimi trucks and the small Dominican restaurants. I also miss my cuchifritos in Spanish Harlem and Bushwick. Damm miss my nyc.
I just love watching your videos. I've made several of your dishes and they have brought me back to my roots, not to mention the fam love my new "skills" in the kitchen 😄 Thank you.
Hi Chef zee. First time making Pollo Guisado and let me tell you that it was soooooo good. Followed all of your steps except I added some Cayenne pepper 🌶 for some kick and everyone loved it thank you ♡
Just made this! Sooo yummy! First thing you said about making sure the oil was hot enough ofcourse I screwed that up but it’s fine now I know for next time but flavor wise.... mmm yummy!
Everyone has a different style. I normally use brown sugar to brown the chicken. cilantro y el culantro is a must in my kitchen. Esto le da un sabor tremendo. I have to give your style a try some day. Vamos a ver.
Delicious dish and I hope to try it soon. Also do you have a recipe for collar greens, I go to a Dominican restaurant near me and I love how they season their collars without using meat.
I have got to try this. Looks wonderful. I have been to Dominican Republic a few times and love trying some of this stuff on my own. Not to sound know-it-all but next time you squeeze a lime try reversing it so the pulp is where the holes are instead of the skin as that is how to use that tool and you will get a lot more juice that way. I know this only because some showed me so I am passing on that knowledge.
Me encanta tu sazón.
My mother never taught me how to cook but because of you I cook amazing 😂😂 no one knows my secret 🤫🤫🤫😂😂😂
Thank you!♥️

Staci Mathura sane people**. Who were they before colonialism

You're welcome!!! So happy that you like the videos! Cali has some of the best Mexican food. I love it there so much whenever I visit :)
Chef Zee Cooks yes we do!! Especially in East Los Angeles where it's very authentic 😄😋 It's a blessing to be surrounded in culture here in Cali.
yo zee, I made it for the first time and everyone loved it over here in Long Island, came out a bit salty, but this was just a test run, the next time it’s going to be on point! Thanks for the recipe
Thats whats up!!
Yes! I agree. Way too salty. The soy sauce doesn't belong.
@@jennym2826 I second that on the soy sauce. I never seen it made with soy sauce before.
You can always add more water to the sauce to reduce the saltiness. Also your rice doesn’t need much salt so when you combine it. It’s perfect
@@jennym2826 the soy sauce does belong and gives it deep rich flavor adjust your salt levels
