Wow. I owned this car. R797DKX. I was the 2nd owner. It was originally a Scholarship car, before Caterham re-branded the series as Academy. Originally British Racing Green, I had it painted Dodge Viper Blue with the silver bonnet stripe. I raced it in Caterham Graduates Classic series in the early 2000s and also won the Lotus 7 Club Sprint Class A at Curborough in this car. It was my first of three Caterhams. So happy to see it still alive and giving joy. ❤❤❤ I hope the live axle has been beefed up with that amount of power through it.😮
What a rad little setup! Makes me want to swap out my 2.0L duratec. Curious how it would do on track. Video was amazing, loved the commentary and the editing as well! And perhaps I have the unpopular opinion but I quite prefer the 620 nose over the standard s3 all day. Looks way more brute and modern to me. Opinions of course haha. Thanks for the excellent video!
Is this a teesside based car? Looks like it was filmed on the A171, I’m based in Middlesbrough with a Honda K20 powered caterham, be nice to see how it compares to an eco boost setup👍🏼
@lookship Hows the fiesta? I commented a few videos ago.. I had an ST200 and moved to an 140i. Had it 4 months and had to get rid of it was way to thirsty with the commute Im taking! was fun while it lasted.
Sorry fella must have missed it. Fiesta is good. Doing its job of getting me to work and back. Extremely boring car to take photos of or make videos on which is probably why you've only seen it once or twice on here 😆 Might be leaving the driveway soon though 👀
That awful radiator totally destroys the look and the exhaust is horrible. He should should have kept is as it was or bought a 620R if he needed the power...
But the only visual difference between this and a 620 is the exhuast 🤔 ... the original S3 nose is way better looking but sadly needs a 620 (ugly vents) nose for cooling . The radiators no diffrent to a 620 . 620s now come with the rear exit exhuasts too now and there 🤮🤮🤮
@@jameskelly9831 Yes the S3 nose is way better and I've always hated the 620 vents but needs must I suppose. Great shame Akrapovic don't do a Caterham exhaust as I'm sure they'd do a brilliantly designed one...(with a much better sound)

I think 300hp in the fiesta would be a hoot. Can't imagine the pace this thing must have. I like the fact its not that loud either.

There really is no substitute for a 7.
The only thing I'd want more than a 7 is two 7s. One built for the track, one built for the road.

A fully configured 620R is £86k, there might be some items you don't want but that's the max lux spec.
