I've heard this bit a bunch of times, but I don't know that I've ever considered the possibility that someone had to pass it up the chain so the author could get the green light to represent Billboard by saying it was wet for All the Ways.
I hate when professionals write like this. It’s like the more they try hard to be cool and mainstream the worse they sound because they don’t know how to use the slang. They know the semantics, but not the pragmatics. Recent modern slang is oriented around conveying a lot of subtle information in a few words. (I.e. “wig snatched” = that’s really impressive in terms of beauty, performance, or artistic skill). That’s mostly because it develops on twitter where there’s a low character limit. It’s made to be used exclusively in single-sentence expressions of opinion. That’s why you use it to write a literal, real-world professional press release. Anyway, buzzfeed, cosmo, take notes.
