    Hi Simon, this is Martin Caparros. You coached me at David Lloyds RP when I was a small kid. I really enjoy the lessons you gave to me and your videos help to improve. Now I am 11 years old and I live in Singapore. My dad keeps advertising Top Tennis Training channel to everybody here. I just wanted to thank you for all the lessons you gave to me. @@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Thank you! Actually I would like to know what keeps one from performing at ~ 80% of one‘s skills? So often, some shots are off or everything feels off. And if it’s really bad, the opponent adds to that by just being very good and you don’t even get into rallies etc. - Guess I‘m not the only one out there feeling like that from time to time.

      @@TopTennisTrainingOfficial I think you have covered pretty much all topics of tennis, especially for someone like me who has just started this sport. Thank you for making all these videos so that we can play this sport in the correct way. The video list is enough for me to learn the sport.
      In terms of more lessons, I would like to know more about the common injuries of playing tennis and how to prevent them. For example, is it normal to have some knee pain and a sore shoulder the second day?
      I would also like to hear about the stories about the top tennis training group. Are there any moments or/and anecdotes to share in your career as a player, coach and content creator? What was the most difficult time and how did you overcome or circumvent?
      In addition, how to choose the rackets and strings (although I think for beginners the rackets do not matter, the techniques do) may be helpful. When we take the demo rackets for play, what should we focus on? What racket do you use and why?
      All the best, love and respect from Canada :)

    Great video, many thanks. As an adult beginner these videos have been absolutely invaluable. Is there any chance you could analyse Dominic Thiem’s kick serve (out wide from the vantage court). I saw during the French he used it to good effect - often as a first serve. He seems to get so much more lateral movement off the court compared to other players. Would be great to hear your thoughts on his kick serve technique. Many thanks. 🎾🎾

    Nice video. I've developed some shoulder issues in my right shoulder in the rear. I think it's because when I do a kick serve in the power position, I twist a lot which creates a lot of stress on my shoulder instead of the teeter totter motion that you said. I'll give it a whirl next time.

      What about tennis rackets? Is there any talk about it on this superb youtube tennis chanel? (Congrats again, by the way) From what point does an expensive racket - with all its supposedly premium features and specifications - no longer offers benefits to a non-professional tennis player or a medium recreative tennis player? In other words, how good can a good racket make a player or how bad can a bad racket make a player instead? Can we consider that there are bad tenmis rackets at the recreational level nowadays?

    This is a great addition to the Kick Serve video collection. Your explanation of the shoulders changing position in a seesaw style helped me to improve. Still not getting as much spin as you but improving ... :-) One request: a statement for version 2 - the precise movement of elbow and forearm could maybe be added (can nicely be seen in Djokovic slow mo from the back) - it maybe comes out automatically if you have a natural talented swing but for non-serve-talents like me (applied too much force when starting to learn the serve) it is smth to be consciously controlled. ... ah, one question: what about pronation of forearm- seems to me as if the pronation is only executed half way for a good kick-serve, right? Nobody really mentions this, but I see it in your serve ... great comment about Federer's feet moving - wonder whether he does this consciously ... maybe comes automatically with so much talent?

      I had to have rotator cuff surgery and had a detached bicep muscle. and a bone spur removed in my right shoulder this past January. The surgery was successful, I have been able to play 3 sets with no shoulder pain. But the effects on my 55 year year old body, due to being immobilized for almost 5 months have left me less flexible. The adjustments you mentioned with the feet were very helpful in getting more topspin kick on my serves. My main partner for tennis is 20 years my junior and moves like Djokovic, I need as many free points from my serve as I can get. Your videos helped with that. Cannot wait til Sunday morning's match this week. I went out and hit about 200 serves last night and I noticed more drop and jump as I worked on the swing path. Thanks again!

      A good server will be able to hit different serves with the different ball tosses/foot positioning.
      They might make it look like they will hit a slice serve then hit a flat serve, or look like a kick serve is coming then flatten out the strings and change the spin/direction.

    • @xueyaotianxia
      @xueyaotianxia 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure..still that can give me some kind of hint...I wonder if Roger knows he moves his feet while serving. I think Becker sticks his tongue out to the direction he serves to, no one picked that up but Agassi. He never told Becker that until they retired I guess...

    Can you do a video on aiming the kick serve to the deuce side? Almost every video shows the ad side and I have trouble aiming on the deuce points. When I try to hit a kick down the T often times I either miss it wide or I go too much to the body/forehand.

    Hi Simon, been a fan of your channel for a while...I have a quick question about the serving motion of you and Alex that I noticed after showing the brief demonstration at the end. I noticed that you arrive a bit earlier than Alex to the trophy holding position when you serve and Alex's motion waits a bit longer on the start to get a more fluid motion before the impact. Any reasons to choose which over which? My first thought is that unless you can master the longer swing, the shorter would be more consistent and safer...
    Thanks a lot!
    from S.Korea

      I think it's just a personal option, Alex likes that slower style whereas I like the faster motion.
      Experiment and see what works best for you

    Is the stance, backswing and setup the same on Deuce and Ad Court ? The reason I’m asking is, I have excellent power, net clearance and bounce on the deuce court but I lack a tad bit of power on the Ad court, although the angle and bounce is saving me for the time being. Could you suggest something to add power. Cheers

      Focus on being more explosive with the leg drive and creating good acceleration but from left to right, in line with the baseline.

    i just saw a video of you that you saying that the end of the motion should end in the left pocket. why did you stop in the middle of the motion and not letting the arm relax?

    • @TopTennisTrainingOfficial
      @TopTennisTrainingOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For most serves you finish by the left pocket (if right handed) but for the kick serve you try to finish more on the right side as the swingpath is very different. Everything is explained in this video

    I wonder whether I can kneel down a little bit for hitting my one handed backhand. By doing that, I have much better control for hitting the balls.

    The video crops off the most important part - the contact of the racquet with the ball; camera work is inadequate; can the camera be a bit further back to show the contact; more slow motion and close up footage of the contact will help as well

    Excellent video as always. This is the only shot I can’t really hit. I’m a 6.2-7.2 player. I’ve got away without it so far but as I’m coming up against better players I really need to learn a decent kick serve. I’m convinced I’m doing the correct action but it always ends up more of a slice serve!? Very frustrating. I think having watched this it maybe that my shoulders open out too soon which turns it into more of a slice?!

    • @TopTennisTrainingOfficial
      @TopTennisTrainingOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes if the shoulders open too early it will be very hard to kick the serve. Try serving slower but stay side on the entire motion and finish with the shoulders still sideways.
      All the best
      Simon

    Any other drill or check points to avoid opening up while hitting the kick serve. As I find it very hard to stop that for happening & due to which my shoulders are square to the net while I'm hitting the server.
