Yes so long as it is the nature of the questions. Right now he is on direction examination, he answers the questions of the lawyer to the best of his abilities. In a perfect world he would answer yes, no or I don’t know, however witnesses are prone to elaborate or be witty and u see with jones… this can either help or hurt you depending on how the jury sees it, meaning it’s up to interpretation and potentially damning. Jones lawyers will have an opportunity to cross examine him. This is where a good lawyer will navigate through what was “opened” by the direct examination and allow jones to either elaborate responses, rebut testimony, corroborate, etc.

It’s a rule in all courtrooms that the jury do not talk or look up stuff about the current trial. If the jury does this can cause the jury to have a biased decision, when the whole point of the jury is to have a unbiased thought process in their decision. This can also corruptly the jury and sway them to one side, which can cause a mistrial if prove true.

Because he's proven time and time again that he cannot be trusted to stay on topic or actually answer the questions being asked. Just look at his previous court appearances, his lawyer cannot control him. And honestly, this is kind of for his own benefit as well -- his insane rants could very easily serve to convince the jury that he has not learned his lesson and increase the damages they award.
And it's also important to keep in mind that this is just a damages trial. He's not here trying to prove his innocence, he's already been found guilty/liable by default. This trial merely serves to show the facts of the case, as well as Jones' continued behaviour even after all of these cases, so that the jury can determine how much Jones has to pay the families.
