I recall when my little buddy, who crossed the rainbow bridge one month ago today, was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. Didn’t know how long I had with left him, though I heard it he could’ve had 2 years left. Well, he almost made it to 4 years. It was tough, knowing he could’ve passed at any point in this duration, and while I cried more times than I could count, I also made peace with knowing his time was coming. He’d been around for half my life, and I cherished the extra time I had with him.
Never take a day with those you love for granted.

I’m so sorry for your loss Chaz&Jeff, losing a pet you love very deeply is hard to deal with so I know how you all feel.
My heart goes out to Koth. I've been there a few years ago. A few days before Sagan passed away, my cat Beady passed away in his sleep. I wasn't aware of it until the next day, when I came downstairs in the morning to feed him and Merlin. I knew Beady was going through some health issues at the time, and unfortunately he passed away from kidney failure. Like Koth, Beady was such a sweet boy, very loved and super affectionate towards everyone. Then, my other cat Merlin passed away December 31st 2022. It was a rough start to the New Year at the time. The unfortunate thing is, me and my roommate had no idea Merlin would pass away the way he did, because he looked so happy and healthy. To this day I still miss both my boys deeply, and never picked up the courage to get a new cat as I simply can't replace them.
Rest in peace, Koth. Pets are very much members of the family so it's just as hard to lose them as the humans in our lives. My deepest condolences to Chaz, Jeff, and the Raleigh Collective.
I'm so glad that Chaz and Jeff got that extra time with Koth; a year and a half compared to the month and a half that the doctors gave him is quite impressive. All of my best vibes and virtual hugs to Chaz and Jeff. ❤
This story jogged something in my brain I kinda forget about another pet, even though it hadn't been that long ago. My childhood dog, Dodger, was having trouble with balance while he was walking for a bit (something we thought was either bad arthitis or lyme disease) so I went to work thinking he was going to the vet and he wouldn't be there when I got back. I came back and he was still here- apparently it was an ear infection or something that affected his balance and medication fixed it. 9 months later, it happened again. whatever it was, there was no miracle pill to fix it that time. We certainly made the most of that extra time when we had that opportunity.
Rest in peace, buddy I’ll keep an eye on you when I continue making my quest through the journey

My condolences to Chaz and Jeff. I’m sorry to hear about this. It sounds like Koth had a great life. I’m glad that he got to live longer than expected.
Ohhh that must be why chazs parents were in town that weekend. Stephen mentioned that they were.
Extra time is such a blessing. My husband and I have had 30 rats over our time together, and only had extra time with a few, most notably Matoya, who passed away recently. I am so glad both Keppy and Koth were/are able to be with you guys just that little bit more. Comforting wishes to all.
Thank you, this was a very sweet way to honor the life of a family/community pet. I'm sorry I didn't know Koth very well, but he looks like he was a lovely, sweet cat and I'm so glad Chaz and Jeff were able to have so much extra time with him after his initial prognosis. I hope they're doing ok, please send our love and thoughts to them and to yourselves as well, since he was important to all of you. Thank God for extra time.
This has been an outlook I ended up having when my own little guy passed away a few years ago. He wasn't expected to last a month and he made it a full year. That full year was a beautiful gift we were given. I am sorry for all of your loss but I am also glad to hear that you got to have that time as well

I really appreciate how open and honest you were with your thoughts regarding this unfortunate situation. We need more people like that in this world.
My condolences to Chaz and Jeff, it’s never easy to loose a beloved pet; especially so suddenly.
Rest in piece Koth, you will be missed by your fathers, by your kitty siblings, and by all those that got to enjoy you with them.
My dog that last passed away (which was also my first dog) was also an Extra Time dog. I think she initially had 3-4 months to live after being diagnosed with liver cancer, but she lasted 7 months after the diagnosis. And throughout that entire time, she was still a very happy dog and she passed relatively painless - she didn’t really exhibit any signs of pain until her last week alive, and even then, she was the happiest dog I’ve known. Accepting her imminent death was the hardest thing I’ve ever faced, but I’ll treasure that hardship because it gave me extra time with her, which made me very happy. Lots and lots of love and good vibes to Chaz and Jeff; you all are not alone. ❤

I lost 2 cats in the span of 10 months. The first one was very sick and my brother basically had to choose either a few weeks of extra time and drain his savings account. He decided to let him go and schedule an end of life appointment which poor kitty didn't make it too. He was a senior kitty and it was not going a good life.
The other cat my dear Leo was a sudden event much like Sagan where he was just off one and gone the next. Though he was also an old man(rockos age)

Good vibes for Chaz and Jeff. Just recently said farewell to my eldest cat of 21 years. He lived a long, long life, and will be missed and remembered fondly. Im glad Koth got so much extra time with his family and friends.
When you have a heads up that your pet or someone you know is on their last leg, it is easier, generally when they go. It's not that it won't hurt. It does, but it's not the same. I've had people and pets that go slowly and suddenly. It's the ones that take you by surprise that hurt the most. The time gives you a moment to reflect, enjoy what you have left. When time's up, it feels less cruel. A sudden lost leaves you asking why, it leaves you with so much pain all at once. It's hard to recover...
I guess the difference between them is one is more sad and the other is just pain.
I hope Chaz and Jeff are doing well now that Koth has moved on. I wish everyone their best.

Hi Steven I’m sorry for Chaz and jeff for loosing Koth and I’m glad that they got extra time with him and that you and Mal still have extra time with Kepler, it’s hard loosing a bet even unexpectedly because last year I lost my Dog Lendi she was a Great Dane, she passed away on January 3rd, 2 days after her birthday due to some type of sickness which we didn’t know of, she wouldn’t eat or go to the bathroom and when my mom was home she let Lendi out to go out to use the restroom and she would just lay in the rain and couldn’t get up and my mom had to help her and my dad told me and my sisters that we would had put her down but unexpectedly she got worse that day and passed away before we could even but her down properly. But those times are tough but it gets better even with all the memories with them.

It could be argued to be the same for Kirby, since he got extra time as well. Same with one of Kitten Lady's cats (currently on 2 years extra time), and hopefully Keppy gets some extra time. Even if he doesn't see the end of the year.
If only Sagan got extra time, but due to what happened, he didn't even come home same day you and Mal found out.
When Keppy's had enough, he'll tell you. That's how much he loves you.
In a year where it has been a wild rollercoaster ride for the furry friends of the Raleigh collective, losing any pet, is always hard of course.
Having watched you Stephen deal with your loss of Segan 4 plus years ago, it's never easy in a life where your own extended family is your pets.
Granted, your actual human family will tend to supercede it sometimes and is just as hard, it doesn't mean the pet families of the world doesn't suffer or grieve either.
While the majority of us don't obviously know Koth in the same way we knew and know Segan and Kepler, it still doesn't diminish the fact a friend you have had for a long time in Chaz and Jeff, your not feeling equally as heartbroken either.
It's funny in a lot of ways, when we get pets, generally, if we as humans get pets and they grow on us, we tend to believe that they saved our lives in some capacity. And you probably hear many stories outside of here, of many instances where a cat or a dog or any pet saved them in situations.
Obviously this is rambling some, but to lose any pet to any terminal condition always sucks. The one thing that sometimes some people are blessed with is the fact that God does extend life to some of the unfortunate pets that end up in these situations where pet owners are told they have x short time to live.
It's hard to prepare for such events like this, not knowing when it will be the last time you see your beloved pet.
But the amazing grace out of it, is the fact God gave Chaz and Jeff the grace that Koth was able to live an additional year and 4 months after the initial diagnosis to grace the Raleigh collective, but moreso to Chaz and Jeff obviously.
And it sucks because Kepler is on this same path right now, and no one knows how much time Kepler has.
All we can do as pet parents, is pray and enjoy the time you have with your love pet of your life and cherish each day of it ❤❤❤

Regardless, dawwww on Keppy being a good and smart kitty.
Some people say losing a pet isn’t comparable to a family member, but those people are wrong. Pets are just as much part of a family and deserved to be loved as such and it shows how important Koth and the other pets are to the family. My heart goes out to Chaz and Jeff.
