Been solo mining with S9i's and Braiins for over a year :) At 300 watts you don't need 2 fans, and definitely not at 100%!. In fact, don't use those fans at all, use Noctua industrial PPC fans. Even at 600 watts I use 2 of them at 60%. If you run 300 watts you'd probably only need one and of course, Noctua's are WAAAAAAAY quieter. :) My miners run 3 feet from me and it's totally ignorable, NOTHING like the fans that ship originally. As a bonus, the OG PSUs on these work at 120v so just plug them in wherever you need heat, don't need 240v at all. :)
@@demonicclubgaming1499 Unfortunately the odds of finding a block now are 1 in 1,366 after 24 hours a day mining the entire year with one of these. I shut them down, especially with summer coming and the halving that cut the reward by 50%. Not worth the hassle of the heat and power bills all year long for 1 in 1,366 lottery odds.
I have solar so free energy :) so on a sunny day like today im running my S9 at 800w getting 10.2TH/s mining on unminable for DOGE which is returning about 3 to 4 DOGE, whats not to like about free DOGE :)
Hey Hobbyist, great video! If you want to have even lower electric use, you can unplug two of the hash boards (data wires and power wires) leaving just one card plugged in. Allow Braiins to tune it again and you'll have about 1 terahash for about 100 watts, based on your numbers. Myself, I run 1 hash board (S9, Braiins firmware) based on a 700 watt target (so about 230 watts for 1 board) and get about 3 terahash for solomining and not much electric. I also use 120 millimeter quiet fans in place of the noisy Bitmain fans since it doesn't create as much heat with 1 underclocked board. It is quiet, my present PSU is louder.
@TheHobbyistMiner You said you want to run multiple… why wouldn’t you just crank up the hashrate or watts of one? Is there a difference? It makes sense to run multiple if each is cranked up but I don’t understand the logic of running multiple when they are set so low.
I have about 100 S9s just sitting in my garage. Currently only have two of them running to get some "cheap" heat. Would be awesome if there was a way to deploy more of them without losing too much on it!
@@TheHobbyistMiner Yeah, they are running Braiins, getting about 15-16 Ths at 1250w. Will do some more with them this weekend and see if i can get a better watt to Ths ratio! :)
Hello! I am new to all this and want to get into home mining. If i was to buy someones old used equipment that is no longer profitable and using Braiins and joining a pool. Is this possible?
Is it possible to flash the sha-256 software and upload a new program to mine other crypto ? That would repurpose the S9's which sell for $75 or so because the great thing about aisc's is they are a single purpose device and perform tasks well. Solo mining is fun so at 300 watts is worth the expense for 6.25 BTC. Bear in mind BTC halving is in April 2024
This may be a dumb idea. But if you live in a northern climate over the winter I wonder if you could save power on the cooling by keeping it exposed to the cold in a shed like you have.
I just picked up a Goldshell Mini-DOGE for exactly this in my home office. Miner puts out 250w, unplugged a 600w space heater. If one is not enough I'll pick up a second one. The way I figure it I'm mining for free 🙂
Doing exactly that with my incoming s9. Solo Lottery is the plan. I learned something new, though, on your video. The turning down to 300watts is a great idea. Good peace of mind instead of at full power. Let us know if you find a block!
been running a S9j for about 2 years solo mining. Brains got it down to 4th at only 280 watts at the wall. Fans run at only 3% so basically silent. I will let it run until it just doesn't run anymore and then replace with a T15 i have that's getting 13th at only 510 watts on brains. Run them slow and low for solo mining :-). Let brains adjust those fans make that bad boy silent.
Thanks. I'm starting to learn about Braiins and associated work. I'm also learning about HiveOS and would be curious of any comparisons. While S9's have gotten cheaper, L3's are cheaper yet.
I have one CompacF, one R909, one Mars Lander and one S9 SE. All running at just over 500 watts. and I get about 8-9 TH's on average. I just had a S9i delivered the other day and I was about to use Braiins OS+ on it, but after watching this video, it's better to just keep the SE. The reason I get so little wattage with the S9 SE, is because I have only one hashboard plugged in and it gives be about 5 TH/s for 400 watts. Pretty good trade off. My partner though is not a fan of all these machines, he hates them and says I'm wasting money.
This is an awesome video!!! I was literally trying to figure out what to do with my old Bitcoin minor. It already has that OS on it. I cannot wait to get home and try it! Thank you!
I have a few S9's, does the website for viewing Braiins work on Windows? Would love to see a step by step guide for setting up braiins as well. Had my S9's running on HiveOS before, is Braiins that much better? Thank you!
Just bought an old one off ebay just to 'have a play' - have plugged it in just to see if it's working - sounds like an idling Concorde lol! :D Love this video :)
I actually just bought 2 s9's and built my own space heaters using the Crypto Cloaks kit. Using the same amount of power as my electric space heater and offsetting the cost with 13TH worht of Bitcoin. The idea behind the Heatbit was good, but the execution and price was terrible.
bro Is it not possible to mine bitcoin with graphics cards? I've been obsessed with this . I know there is no sale of antiminer in Turkey, it is prohibited.
Been solo mining with my S9i on solar for about a week. Have an S19j pro on the way to replace it. Luckily I'm on a large solar array so no electricity costs for me when the sun is shining :D
Can you shutdown hash boards on brains and only mine on 2 of the 3 hash boards on an s19? Side not, you have 4 cent electric in the shed!?! Fill that thing up with miners!
G’day @the hobbyist miner . I just bought 6 x S9’s and would love to try this out for sure . And who know some little TIMMY might want a S9 during the bull run 🤣🤣🤣

Agreed, Noctua for peace of mind and a quiet home. I use them for my Jasminers. Beforehand I put the X4-1U under the house, cool & quiet.
Have you find any block yet ? 😢

I'm bringing back the original S1. I have two S9 14 and 13 hash rate with braiins on both.
Try 950watt ...you will get 74 watts per Th it will be around 12.5

not dumb, just need to beware of damp weather penetrating the electrics... some people try and recycle the heat...to use elsewhere

Do you have a video about how to solo mine on the S9 Antminer?
Stop mining bitcoins as bitcoin might collapse anytime due to coin base and black rock

Have you had any luck solo mining
is it worth pool mining it, with the Braiins 300w configuration?
Does it even earn anything? Electric costs not being considered...
No. I'd Solo Mine
You can get 8th @ 660w with the s9 :)

Just did this with 4 bitmain s9’s that I bought thinking they would be profitable. Let’s just say the wife is not happy. Thank you for the education
With miners like the Avalon Nano 3 (4TH at like 100 watts) out there for a hundred bucks, is this actually worth doing?
Have a video coming out tomorrow on My S9 Solo Miner
It is if you already have S9/s that aren't doing anything.
Anyone know if S9 SE can have any other Firmware then stock ? HIVEON or BRIANS ?
Hay great show and idea. just bought a cheap S9 on ebay to tinker with hope to get it up and running solo minning btc thanks for the advice

get those fans down from 100 % lol right now 150W is just fans. You dont need all that cooling power for 300W
I have a few s9. So youre saying i can take this current wattage and bring that down to a few hundred making this thing efficient??
What website are you using to see that profit page? I’m trying to learn all this before I get 1
How big of an sd card do you need for brains OS ? I got some S9’s sitting around
4c per kWh? Does that include tax and delivery charges?
How did you get 4 cent per kwh???? Please share...
Is the fan still loud as f?
event after we turn it down to 300 watt?
I'm getting 4t on the gekkoscience r909 water cooled

You can mine other cryptocurrency and get paid out in Bitcoin. Look into Unmineable.

I'm doing it in my campervan off solar running a limited wattage :D
I really like the auto tuning to set wattage....
Can you reduce the fan rpm to bearable levels? They seem to spin at 6000rpm, and that is not something you can have in-house.
You can adjust the Fan speeds as you desire, yes.
Can you do a video on the k19pro and brains turning ? Like how efficient can you get it since it’s 120t at like 2900 watts
Fun Good Idea
i think the heatbit [may] have died/ stopped working because its out of date, and there is a new model???
Mine ran for 3 weeks maybe
I'd like to see you put it in a 5 gallon fish tank with mineral oil and a pump/heat exchanger then overclock it
haha sounds like fun!
Yeah I want the step by step because I think I might do this with my old s9s
its pretty easy...via SD card update
