2021 UPDATED POTHOS VARIETIES AND COLLECTION: • POTHOS VARIETIES & WHA...
Pothos are arguably the most popular houseplant. They are very common and affordable, can grow in under any type of light, even under a fluorescent light, easy to care for and propagate, and looks good in any part of interior decor from offices to homes.
In this video, i will share with you 22 varieties of pothos and how to tell them apart. To make it easier for new plant parents, I break them down to three different groups: #epipremnum, #philodendron, and #scindapsus.
If you're a plant beginner looking to find out what type of pothos you have, or you would like to add new pothos to your plant collection, then watch this video!
For more varieties I didn't get to mention in this video, be sure to check out my companion blogpost: mywastelesslife...

I used to just ignore pothos because they are so common... now I’m in love with them. They do look good as houseplants. Not to mention easy to take care of.

Agreed! I hate following any trend. I love all of my plants, but I have to admit all of my pothos have an extra special place in my heart. I’m currently growing one of them on a moss pole because I want the leaves to become giant. I can’t wait to see the result in a year or 2!

Pothos in their natural habitats do climb. The higher they climbs the more thicker their vine get with bigger leaves. I got a golden pothos with 8-10 inch long size leaves at the top. There are pictures online that show some with leaves that are over 20 inch long. All Pothos and Philodendron are capable of getting bigger stems, vines and leaves except for dwarf varieties. We are so used to seeing them small because most people are probably growing them as an indoor plants without a tall totem or tree. Nice Video

Ah yes! I saw some really huge ones in Miami at Fairchild botanical gardens that were practically wrapping around trees, and they can get invasive in the wild. but yeah as houseplants they need our help to do the same, since they don't grow as big. Thanks for sharing! ☺️

You can see one at th-cam.com/video/Z3_z47rlW0E/w-d-xo.htmlm48s
Look at the tree on your left. Golden pothos has climbed over it
Note the leaves get bigger at the top. I have seen a leaf close to 2ft long. The video is of no importance.

Yes Google pothos invasive in florida and you can see just how big they get. I didn't even realize what they were until I started getting into plants. Now I'm gonna go snip some at my MIL house since she hates them in her trees anyways 🤣

This whole time I thought I had a Marble Queen. It never daid the name, just "indoor house plant". It is very white. I now know it's a Snow Queen. Very beautiful. I'm so lucky! Thank you this video is so helpful.
I also didn't know golden pothos could "golden" even if it starts out dark green like mine did. I thought I was overwatering it though the leaves seemed healthy...

Great video! So thorough! I never paid much attention to pothos, it was so common but now I want every variety! LOL I have several but I really want a harlequin, I love that dark green and white combo. I have several plants where I took the vine, pinned the node down to a pot next to it and eventually they took root and grew. I like this way of propagating because there is little stress to the plant, only cut it when you set the new plant free. Check out the global green pothos, very pretty! Again, great video! I had a golden pothos in the past that had the chance of growing next to a wall. The roots will hold-on to the wall's mortar and it will start climbing. Once the roots take hold, the branch will grow thicker, have big leaves with fenestrations and will grow faster. I never had the chance to see it flower, but I think this opportunity to climb up something will increase it chances to flower. A moss pole is just as good, but it was never tall enough...

    • @MyWastelessLife
      @MyWastelessLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Oh wow, that my goal! I had a few comment that epipremnums don't flower and if they do it's likely rare, but still trying to verify that info. I have my golden currently in a moss pole and it has already outgrowing it before I can get larger leaves 😭

When propagating pothos, how long should it take for them to start growing secondary roots? Or does the roots have to grow a certain length first?

Logged in just to tell you that I learnt a lot from your video. I think my marble queen looks more like a snow queen - whiter.. N'joy in Australia is always called and sold as ''Snow queen''. Manjula is almost impossible to get in Australia. I've had one for about a year and I always wondered why it looked different from ones I see on youtube (darker green, but still has curvy leave)s. I have a harlequin for sure! Cebu blue cost hundreds here. Just a wish. However, I have one just like it only green. I guess it's an epipremnum pinnatum, but it doesn't look like the ones I see online. Isn't there another kind of pothos (epipremnum) that's green and crinkly? I also learnt that I have three kinds of scindapsus pictus. I couldn't figure out what my silver satin was. Basically, all my favourite plants are in your video.
