OMG. 24mm is 15/16" SAE 13 mm for drain plug, which flashes by too fast. Mobile 1 Synthetic or Valvoline, and never a Fram filter. Buy a 10,000 mile Mobil 1 for that motor if you value your timing chain, and don't wait too long past 5000 miles either!
Otay Buckwheat, that car was a lemon, you are right the timing chain blew/stretched, the thing would burn off a quart a month, sold it to a guy in South Gate.
@@MuellerMechanical There was an insufficient PVC orifice and a defective design valve cover gasket in the early engines that created a gunk issue, and GM also soon realized the recommended oil change intervals were too long. The stock PVC can be altered with a cordless drill and a 5/16 drill bit, and a newer valve cover gasket will be the corrected version. It's imperative to keep the oil clean and full, since some do burn oil and low oil contributes to the problem. Mine has 84,300 miles on it and burns no oil, but it's a 2008. I wouldn't go older than a 2007 and I have no need for all wheel drive or 3rd row seating. I like the newer V8 but not the premium gas requirement.
@@MuellerMechanical I convinced my Chevy dealership that they'd end up sending my SRX to auction and they should go on and let me have it cheap so I stole it, and state law required them to give me a 3 month 3000 mile drive train warranty, so I explored the island knowing they'd send a tow truck if I broke down. It's given me trouble free service, but the electric door locks are cantankerous at times. Now I'm seeing some like mine with twice the mileage for twice what I paid for mine, so even if I have to put a timing chain in it one day I don't have much invested in it.

We used to take to Mammoth and I bought the Tule rack for snowboards. It was pimping at the time. It was brought to the island 🏝️ from West Palm Beach Florida and well maintained, according to Carfax, so I'm 🤗 with it. I sought out this video because I couldn't remember what size socket the oil filter housing took. I knew it was either 22mm or 24mm, so it would be 7/8 or 15/16 SAE, but I had brain damage a while back and some things are foggy. I am much better and getting back to doing things like oil changes and brake jobs, myself. 💪

+cdizzle99z , oil consumption is horrible. I loose like 1/2 quart per month I would guess, maybe more. I found I have to keep a log in the glove so I won't forget to add. Could loose up to 3 quarts in between oil changes and that is bad. Do you loose a lot of oil as well? IDK, why do you think it is so bad. + the oil turns black so fast. Can't wait to trade in, too expensive to maintain!
