You inspired me ❤ I started some tomatoes and bell peppers. I just added onions in each pot for bug control. I also planted one potatoe with a bunch of eyes in a grow bag. It seems to be doing very well❤ I stated some cucumber and green beans two days ago. Praying for success ❤

I just love zinnias! I love the cut and come again ones, so I always do those from saved seed, but I found some shorter ones called cherry swizzel, so I'm super excited to see what they end up looking like. Yes! I've watched the wartime garden series. That was so interesting! My niece and I love those types of shows. She does homesteading too, so we're always bouncing stuff off of each other. We love history too. They did a medieval one also, if that's the series your talking about.

I am tired a lot but most of that has to do with sweet peas type 1 about 4 nights out of the week I am up every hour or 2 trying to get her regulated. I only touch on it as when she gets older I never want her to feel like it was a burden. It’s not. But it is very tiring. It has gotten a bit better the past 2 months as it was almost every night but it still makes for a long day.

I need to do my celery today. Glad I watched your video.
Last year I did something new that I learned on my milk jug group. I carefully separated all my plants, broccoli, kale, dill, carrots, beets, etc and trenched them in. All survived this year and last. I’m going to try it with celery this year.
I also planted my peas and corn in flats after I soaked them in water overnight. I had almost 💯 germination. I don’t do well just planted them in the ground.
I also soak my bean seeds overnight before I plant. It really helps with germination
Last year I planted dill and onions with my potatoes and it helped with the bugs etc. I’m going it do it again this year

I love War time Garden. This didn't waste a spot.. Three fifty for her blood sugar not good. My husband never got to that. I had to watch to make sure he didn't go too low. He would drop down to twenty two.

    • @mommabear2many

I’m assuming your husband has type 2 not type 1? Unfortunately this can happen frequently with type 1 because they don’t have any insulin. They could spike over 300 and then be overly affected and drop to 60 in less than an hour. It can be rough. I’m part of a type 1 board and see it all the time.

Another great video! Love watching your family work together. I was 10 yrs old when I started my very 1st garden by myself. We are in Arkansas and eating out of our garden already. One thing I definitely miss is rhubarb. I'm originally from MN. You can't grow rhubarb down here because we don't get the deep freeze like up there. I love how you are mingling plants and space to get the most bang for your buck. We planted tightly too. Green beans actually help the tomatoes with nutrients. I always put a tums in the dirt when I plant my tomatoes. The calcium in those helps with blossom end rot. Your celery looks better than the almost dead ones I had last year. I ended up with a lot of extra to freeze. I told the celery last year when I planted it to either do or die. It did wonderful

Your girls are so adorable! I hope you all feel better soon. Your garden is amazing. We do grow melons in Minnesota in the open. I’m planting my garden when I get back from FL. Hopefully my tomatoes survived in the water bottle terrariums I planted the them in this year. We drilled holes in the bottom and cut them in half then put the top half over the bottom half. I have them on trays in water and even put plastic wrap over them so hopefully they are still living. If not Plan B will have to be the buying plants at the greenhouse. Other plants go directly into the ground. Usually in Minnesota Mother’s Day until Memorial Day is a good time. Drink plenty of water when you’re out there working in that heat and get rest when you can. It’ll be interesting to see how the cucumbers turn out. There’s been a beetle problem past couple years. Many years ago in the early years of Minnesota there was a grasshopper invasion. The governor declared a Day of Prayer and they miraculously went away. We watched the air show on the beach yesterday. Heading back tomorrow. I’m going to miss my grandchildren. We’ve been working on reading skills for my 6 year old grandson so I’ve enjoyed that time with him
