Being born and raised in India but living in USA for the last 45 years. This is one of the best interviews I have ever seen about our Indian history. I don't know whether, I should feel ashamed, sorry or disgusted that we don't know much about our own past. 4. A big statue of Raja Dahir in Delhi with the help of Indian Sindhi community and central government.

It was Sheikh Abdullah who created the Kashmir problem by influencing Maharaja Hari Singh to sign the instrument of accession to India, and Nehru was the PM of India at that time (what happened behind closed doors between Patel and Nehru no one knows, it is all rumour). In any case role of Nehru was less important since acceptance of Kashmir into India was dependent upon Lord Mounbatten. Records show that Mountbatten made a note on the document that the 'will of the Kashmiri people will be sought in due course'.
Hardeep Singh You are ignoring the basic fact that the Partition of India was managed by the British (thru its Governor Generals) under the Indian Independence Act 1947, which was an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom that partitioned British India into the two new independent dominions of India and Pakistan. It was nepotism on part of the British to accept MAJinnah as Pakistan's Governor General, and India's objections were not good enough. Whereas Lord Mountbatten accepted Kashmir's accession to India on 27th Oct 1947, Mohd Ali Jinnah did not and sent Pakistani Army into Kashmir. In spite of Pakistan attacking Kashmir, Gandhi went on a fast and forced Nehru to disburse Rs 55 crores to Pakistan from the Indian Treasury. It was Lord Mountbatten who asked Maharaja Hari Singh that he will not allow any help from India unless an Instrument of Accession is formally signed. Please get your facts right.
The Act's most important provisions were:
1. Division of British India into the two new and fully sovereign dominions of India and Pakistan, with effect from 15 August 1947;
2. Partition of the provinces of Bengal and Punjab between the two new countries;
3. Establishment of the office of Governor-General in each of the two new countries, as representatives of the Crown;
4. Conferral of complete legislative authority upon the respective Constituent Assemblies of the two new countries;
5. Termination of British suzerainty over the princely states, with effect from 15 August 1947, and recognised the right of states to remain independent or accede to either dominion
6. Abolition of the use of the title "Emperor of India" by the British monarch (this was subsequently executed by King George VI by royal proclamation on 22 June 1948).

Mr Fatah, I agree with you that India could have gained a lot of land or/and Bangla support by trying those POWs in 1971, but Ms. Gandhi was in a terrible situation where Nixon was on her behind to not to do any such thing. An interesting book is "The blood Telegram", which beautifully explains how India was completely alone at international front and did not have any support from most of the countries.
