I recently (probably, I’m technically still waiting, but losing hope) got scammed on a stamp album purchase, so felt kind of sad about the hobby for a while, this video and a kind stranger gifting me NVPH 1 (first stamp of the Netherlands) cheered me up though.

Sorry to hear about it... for every dozen honorable sellers there's a schmuck, at least the others make up for it.....

Good news! Seems like the package containing my stamps chose to take the scenic route and I probably-didn’t open the package yet- did not get scammed. I was really worried because the seller was being kind of vague about the package and had wanted me to use a payment method that wouldn’t protect me if I didn’t receive the package. I chose to trust the person, and was scared I was incorrect due to how long it took and had just given personal info to someone shady , but I’m glad to be wrong.

Your dad is great for buying you the stamp album with all these stamps. My parents gave me the stamps and my sister gives me stamps as well as other people that don't know what to do with them. Great video, David

Ah Importa, my tweezers are from them, they probably belonged to my dad, but I found them with the regular bathroom tweezers. I recognized they were stamp related thanks to the logo :) My first stockbook/album was from them too, I got gifted it by someone as a tween with some stamps because his son ha stopped collecting. Some stamps in my collection are still from that collection of stamps.

Great to hear that your dad has been on the other side of the big pond recently. Like you know, there are two parts of "Friesland" over here, the western part which belongs to the Nederlands and the eastern part on the German side. Nevertheless, all these folks came originally from the same tribes and are typical folks from the North Sea coast preferring black tea instaed of coffee which some special sort of sugar which we call "Kandis". 😉 The album content is very similar to my "young boy" collection when I started collecting stamps in alphabetical order. Not a bad assortment because there are a lot of classic/ semiclassic items inside. Greets from GER, U.

@@silkontheweb The Frisians were well known in the past being excellent farmers, warriors, sailors and fisherman. Today, as far as I know, they are mostly in dairy farming and tourism. And, in early medieval times, they killed Wynfred aka Bonifatius, a very important missionary from England who tried to get Christian religion to the Germanic tribes. As I already mentioned, the Frisians are big black tea drinkers (together with rock candy) instead of coffee. Only 2 % of the German population are Frisian, but they consume 25 % of the yearly black tea production imported to Germany.
Some very good friends of my parents came originally from East Frisia (Ostfriesland). Time for you to make a trip to Friesland ! 😉

There are even more Frieslands. I live in the West side of Holland in the province called Noord-Holland. On the map that is on the left side of The province Friesland. The region is called West-Frieland, its a nice area and also here a lot of farmes and in this specific time of the year (april) there area these nice tulip and other flower fields.

@@10camiel Absolutely agreed, we´ve been several times to Aalsmeer during the tulip season. And: I forgot to mention that there´s also a Nordfriesland on the German side of this area (Nordstrand etc.).

I love your card system! It reminds me of the Stampers program the USPS had in the 90s. Brain, who does the Stampman channel (@StampmanVideos), has a great video on them. But essentially, they were super colorful trading cards made to display the stamps they were coming out with. It's one of the items I collect. I love the idea of continuing that stamps-as-trading cards theme throughout the rest of my collection, so I might adopt it. Thank you so much for sharing!

I ended up with a lot more collections than I ever imagined all those years ago... got my world album obviously organised by country then date, but after so long and so many duplicates I have now started making thematic albums totally devoid of any structure beyond the theme name, as nice as it is seeing them all in dated structured order though the thought that one day someone will get my albums and not know what they are going to see from page to page is a good thought
I think there's almost as many ways to organise as there are people who collect ✌️🤣

Hi, I think some people wrote below, that this stamp is from Sardinia. I think, this is true. I only have Michel catalogues and this could be the number 11 from Sardinia (unperforated stamp), which was perforated afterwards to get a Michel 9 from Italy. I own a Michel 11 from Italy on an envelope from the same set, which is certified and the perforation looks different from your stamp. You can send it to a specialist to get a final answer, but from my opinion you will not get back a certification for a genuine Michel 9.
Besides this: With your method you get a ton of small cards for stamps up to 50 $. Will you ever sort them in the future? Does this not take too much space? If you sort them: Will you make categories for the quality of each stamp? Some are not in good condition, others are perfect. I´m just curious.
Nice video and overall a better collection with some nice surprises.
    Have fun with it.

  • @tedtalksstamps

Re your Italy #17, the problem is not so much that the stamp could be a forgery but that it could be Sardinia #11, an imperf stamp worth $4, that has been fake perfed. Looking at the left edge, most of the perfs are missing, and, of course, the bottom edge is totally FUBAR. But, as with you, I have no expertise in Italy and have no idea how perf quality varied on these. Before sending off to be authenticated, I would post a scan to a stamp forum and solicit opinions. Good luck. (Then again, this video is a year old; perhaps you already sent it off. Can you share the result?) (Sorry, I'm commenting as I watch. I see now you addressed the fake perf possibiity. However it is the design of Sardinia.)
