- You guys told me to start listening to Metallica's first album 'Kill Em All' so that's what I'm doing! You can see how much they progressed through each album they did. It's even hard to believe how young these guys were when they released this album. The talent is just unmatched.
Here's my reaction to hearing Metallica - The Four Horsemen for the first time. I hope you enjoy!

No way, a song from this album is the best advice you could have considered man, kill 'em all is something magnificent
You nailed it! That Sweet home Alabama riff was intentional! They've talked about being big Skynyrd fans and slipping that into a song. Good ear kid 🤘🏼
It was actual Mustaine that wrote that riff, but yah, he said he ripped it from Skynyrd. Love this album!
Mustaine played the riff as a joke and Lars was like WOAH WHAT'S THAT USE IT.
It’s crazy that metallica doesn’t play that riff for that reason anymore at shows. I think they wanted to pay tribute
I feel like how similar the riff is, people tend to exaggerate that. Metallica/Mustaine definitely made it sound different enough that it isn’t totally obvious. Not as obvious as “Fade to Black” paying homage to “Goodbye Blue Sky” by Pink Floyd, or the obvious riff from Master Of Puppets that was inspired by David Bowie’s “Andy Warhol.” I’d say those ones are definitely more obvious than the “Sweet Home Alabama riff” from The Four Horsemen.

Seek and Destroy, Whiplash, Motorbreath and this one. So many legendary songs on their first album
Had a shop air compressor once. That upon starting it's charge cycle sounded just like the intro to Motor Breath. Constantly having to listen to that song due to this machine 😂😂
Hit the Lights too fr
Phantom lord, Jump in the fire..
All deserve to be listened to@ghost_z17_08
This was my intro to Metallica. 1983. ....14 years old... We knew then... they were going to take over the world. Completely unstoppable.
Another banger from this album is whiplash.....basically a song about metallica thrashing it up 😈 🔥 👌
I love Whiplash, but I've always thought that "Metal Militia" was the hardest, thrashiest banger on this album.
Acting like a maniac!**WHIPLASH!* 🤘🏼
Can't stand it when people listen to whiplash without (Anesthesia) - Pulling Teeth these two are one song to me
This was released in 1983!! … this shooked the metal world… the rest is history🤘🤘
Next song from this album should totally be "hit the lights" It's so underrated and gives u such an adrenaline kick
I agree, it’s probably my fav Kill ‘Em All tune
HELL YES!!!
Not remotely underrated.
Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)
It's impossible to overstate how important this album was. They were so young and so talented. It's the first vinyl I ever bought as a kid and I LIVED it. Incredible record. This & Exodus' Bonded By Blood are the thrash classic firsts, followed by Megadeths Killing Is My Business & Overkill's Feel The Fire.
Enjoy bro. Classic tuneage 👌
yer, liked Exodus very much !
A lot of folks forget about Exodus. Another good band from that time. Haven't listened to an Overkill album since the late 80's. Never hear anyone reacting to D.R.I. or Sacred Reich either for matter.
I'd add Slayer's Show No Mercy as well and dare I say Merciful Fate's EP Nuns Have No Fun
both excellent at that time, got both vinyls@@TimothyWeirich
this album is a bona fide game changer, there is literally before and after Kill 'em All metal eras
Never heard anything like metallica until there was metallica, remember listening to it when it came out & my brother & I just mouth open, mind blown! So proud to be able to say I was there from day 1, so proud of them, they are the soundtrack of my generations lives🤘
They were 18 to 19 years old for this album!! Contrary to what others will prolly say in the comments, no. Dave Mustaine did not compose or play the solo in this song. Kirk did it all, Dave did a different version of this solo that he composed on the demo tape.
Hi! I’m a 53 year old woman, and this is my ALLTIME FAVOURITE! I have it as my ringtone too! I’ve been honoured to see them 5 times! Enjoy little brother! 🤘🏻🇨🇦🤘🏻
One of the tracks on this album is a bass solo called "Anesthesia, pulling teeth" There is a live version on youtube from Chicago, I believe. You have to watch that, it is guaranteed to melt your mind!
Yeah, the live version of Anesthesia from Chicago 1983 is a must 🤘
❤❤😢 Cliff Burton. Was lucky enough to see him play Anaesthesia before that tragic day. RIP.
I'm 54... Four friends from Houston call each other the four horsemen.
We lost one 2 years ago.... this is how we rock 🤘

Still Got Whiplash Record I bought at show.
Top 3 Metallica track for me. Absolutely love the galloping momentum.
You have to check the Seattle 89 version of this track (or San Diego ‘92). Absolutely killer.
You can feel Dave Mustanes writing all over this album especially on the 4 horsemen
Not really.
Agred, that is why this is their best, because Mustaine influence
Absolutely Dave write this song and 3 other on this album
@@zzasboa 😂😂😂😂
@@__blue--blood__7857 including metal militia, the best song on the album!
As someone who loves Megadeth from what you've heard of them, this is one of the songs Dave Mustaine wrote while in Metallica and is also given a credit on this album. On Megadeths debut album there's a song called Mechanix which is the same guitar riffs played a little faster with different lyrics.
Mechanix is such a letdown compared to Horsemen IMO. Too fast, too messy, worst lyrics ever. But Dave had to speed it up from the original demo version to be faster than Metallica.
@paulgrudowski4383 Mechanix was the original song. James and Lars slowed the tempo, added some chord progressions and changed the lyrics.
@dazed1nyc540 I know it was the original, but you are slightly wrong. The demo version of Mechanix and final version of Horsemen are almost the same speed. Dave sped the final version of Mechanix up significantly because he wanted to be faster.
@paulgrudowski4383 yeah, either way I don't disagree, i think it sounds sloppy sped up also. I feel like Cliffs performance on Horsemen is vastly overlooked as well. Wouldn't shine through as much if played on Mechanix
Dave’s song is horrible compaired to Horseman thank god they made the changes.
Personal favorite song from this album, Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth). Cliff is a bassist that metal bassists should study if they want to truly play. One of many amazing bassists in metal just so sad we lost him too soon.
Metallica in the 80s and 90s is absolute perfection
Yep, up to the departure of Jason. I ate and slept Metallica since this record. Nothing against Rob, but I was done with them after he joined.
80s, not 90s
@@slipknot67891990 is good too
Now you need to see how Dave Mustaine used this same riff in Megadeth’s “Mechanix”.
Yes, it is Dave’s riff that he wrote while in Metallica.
Dave can write riffs, but not songs.
@@FaceEatingOwl I'd say that few last albums of Megadeth are much much better than few last albums of Metallica, which really are just a bunch of random riffs put together
@@757foks I would totally agree actually. I don't like a single song from the latest Metallica album. First time ever.
The last few Megadeth albums have some bangers. Don't know if that's Dave or band mates though. Either way 🤷♂️
@@FaceEatingOwl Dave has written some excellent songs.
He’s the head of Megadeth - the band responsible for some of the greatest thrash songs ever written.
@@FaceEatingOwl Dave absolutely can write songs, he has written some of the best metal songs out there.
The Dave Mustaine sound in this Album! Amazing 🔥🔥🔥
The first guitar solo in this is arguably one of the best metal solos ever I think
I would argue the ending one is also🤷♂️
@@blitz3643 yes don’t get me wrong, both are great, but I like the first even more
@@Pingkonkit's funny. I always thought the same but since I've been watching these reactors and listening to it again I've realized just how awesome the ending is. The entire song is epic.
For Metallica yeah, definitely not all of metal. It is funny how it’s played over sweet home alabama though.
You can hear Dave Mustanes fingerprint all over this .....
They were about your age when they recorded this album. It’s amazing to hit that level of musical maturity on your first album and they killed it.
@jamiepuente481 Hi Jamie, Kill Em All was released on July 25th,1983. I'm pretty sure James, Cliff, Lars, & Kirk were between 19 & 20 years young. 🤘
@@carolynm.7530 Most of the songs were made in 1982 so they were really 18-19. Cliff was a few years older.
Yeah most of them were young, Megadeth, Exodus, Testament I would say aswell and Slayer ofcourse
@vashtalelq So true that they were ages 18 to 19 before the release of Kill Em All. Cliff was born a winter baby. Feb. 10th, 1962. RIP🤘
They killed it all
You noticed something different about this album from Ride and Master. It's Dave Mustaine. He was Metallica's lead guitarist before Kirk Hammet. Dave helped write MOST of the songs on Kill 'em All (otherwise known as Metal up Your A$$ 😂).
Look up Dave's story with the band, though. Also, Cliff Burton died on tour in Europe in 1986, after the release of Master. He had helped write a good bit of Justice, though. So, the first album where Jason Newstead (their second bassist) helped write the songs was the Black Album. That's why the first 4 albums were the way they were. The sound REALLY changed with Newstead. Then it seemed to almost change BACK when Rob Trujillo replaced Jason.
Hope this helps!
Just found you in the last few days. Wanted to tell you that I'm 50 years old and I've been a HUGE Metallica fan most of my life. I appreciate your reaction to my favorite band. You, as what I would consider a young man, really bring some really great insight to the bands transitions through the years. You make me think about nuances about them that I never thought about or perhaps recognized. Thank you man!! Keep it up fucker! 🤘🤘
This is it, man. This is the album that made me a Metallica fan for life, and this is one of the songs that did it. You're in for another wild ride with this one. There isn't a single song I dont love on this record. To the point that I have trouble picking a favorite, but "No Remorse" is probably it for me. It's SUCH a heavy, crunchy song, and it has some surprisingly deep, powerful bass for a metal song from this era. Especially right at the beginning. Looking forward to seeing what you think!
Never understood why this Album ranks so low on so many Metallica lists, I absolutely adore this album
Absolutely agree. Reminds me of high school days.
@markuslausen me either! Back in 86, I was 16 yrs old, had just barely discovered Megadeth's "Peace Sells" album, and instantly loved it. Shortly after that , I heard 2 Metallica songs in passing, Battery and Master of Puppets (brand new songs at the time), and I'm embarrassed to say, wasn't really grabbed by them at first. To my young and inexperienced ears, I thought they sounded almost more punk than metal. So I was originally a Megadeth fan and thought they were the heaviest thing I'd ever heard. Then I heard Kill 'Em All while riding around in a car with friends and was completely blown away. We listened to that cassette, playing in a loop over and over all day long, and I loved every minute of it! From that moment, I was ALL about Metallica! I HAD to get that album. I ended up wearing out 3 cassette tapes for Kill 'Em All and fell in love with the rest of their library. I've been a huge fan ever since.
great reaction mate, ive not listened to this album for like 20+ years so gave me goose bumps to sing along with it so thankyou.
can i make a few suggestions for the next new music monday please............
the time has come for you to meet machine head and it must be the 1st track off their 1st record called davidian, machine head are one of the rare bands that peak with their 1st album when usually a band will take 3+ albums to peak. machine head came into the world in 1994 with the album burn my eyes and it was nothing short of perfect, great riffs, great drums, great solos and the production was on point.
they have changed their style many times over the years (sometimes good/sometimes bad) but this album was their masterpiece in my opinion, im not a hater of their other stuff im just a big lover of their 1st album..............oh it must be the music video please for full on 90''s retro awesomeness.
the next new band i would like you to try is fear factory, you mentioned in the pantera im broken reaction that you liked the melodic vocals aswell, well fear factory mix clean singing with metal vocals and have been a major player since the very early 90's. you wont get guitar solos from them but you will get killer drums, they use alot of samples and sound effects aswell and are very industrial.
everyone will say replica but please dont as its been done like 10 million times, start with zero signal, it has a brilliant mix of clean/heavy vocals and some killer sound effects in it aswell. best way to describe fear factory is if a group of terminators started a band it would be fear factory :)
Cliff was a genius. The bass sounds like a third guitar.
Thanx for your reactions👍
Feels like I'm hearing these songs for the first time, too.
Still flashed everytime.
Metal helps, heals and is complete underrated.
Cheers from Germany once again 🤘🇩🇪👏
Metallica was never the same w/o Cliff in my opinion. RIP
Kill Em All was in-part written by Dave Mustaine & was recorded in a cruddy studio in Ny. Ride the Lightening has some of Mustaine’s work in it but was mostly written by Hetfield, Burton & Ulrich & was recorded at Sweet Silence Studios in Denmark.
The whole album was recorded in Rochester
@@emt5330 which is in NY..
Funny story about this album. Around the time when this record was released, Sebastian Bach of Skid Row was in a record store. Skid Row had not yet met with the popularity they would have in a couple of years, and no one knew who Metallica was outside of the Bay area yet. So he's looking at albums and he picks this one up and looks at it. Metallica has their pictures on the back and Sebastian said, "These are the ugliest musicians known to man. I have to buy this."
You listened to their first ep and they were only like 16 years old back then. The difference you hear is the evolution of the band as they climbed the ladder.
It’s good for you to listen to their first album. This is fire! And you can listen to the Metallica’s evolucion. I was a teenager when it came out. 51 now! ❤️🤘🏻🇵🇹
Wrote this in their late teens or early 20s. They are now in their early 60s and still play this live and sounds amazing still. They are unreal. You need to see them live
Please react to The Call of Ktulu!! The closer to Ride the Lightning and one of the most menacing pieces of music ever!! Such an amazing story told musically
Allow me to recommend Metallica’s concert in Seattle back in August 1989 - it was included in their live box set released in ’93 and the Seattle show in particular has become the stuff of legend... and as a kid raised in that era, I can confirm it
Been commenting this for weeks/months now. This lad will be absolutely blown away by Seattle ‘89; maybe the greatest live set ever performed & recorded.
I know he did Creeping Death form Seattle a while ago, but he would almost certainly enjoy reacting to the entire show! Battery, Four Horseman, One, Harvester, etc. just pure brutality.
Dave Mustains riffs scream loud and clear on this one, after he was ejected from the band he reworked it and released "machanix" 🤘🏻🤘🏻 love your content bro!
the KillemAll stuff is always the best in concert. Seek and Destroy and whiplash seem to be the encores of the later shows I went to. I havent been to any of their geriatric tours, Jason was bassist when I last saw them. and it turns out Jason is by far the coolest of them, and you could see that in their own Binge and Purge video way back in the day and every recent interview with Jason shows what an amazing person he is.
Thee changes of rhythms here are gonna drive you insane they were very young and talented ...glad you doing this ...
This song is like wine...no matter the years passes on and it gets better!!
When you listen to this song like me more than 2 thousand times you always discover something new..
Mann I am really happy that you did checked out ' Kill 'em All as it is my most listened whole Album by Metallica, it's their first one and certaintly has its own flavor to it ; Thank you so much for liking it, Mate! 😎
I still have my vinyl record of this album that I bought when it came out in the early 80s when I was around 12 years old 🤘🤘
Haven't heard " Trapped under Ice " from the album Ride the Lightning... killer song
A highlight of their live box set, Binge & Purge, is this song performed in San Diego. During the middle eight when the new riff is introduced, Lars leaves one drum set and runs across the stage to another one, just in time to come back in to the song. It was pretty cool.
The start of a career that to this date is otherworldly….these Four guys are an epiphany to the World of Music….we instantly knew they would take over the World with their insane talents and tjey did ….they reign to this date and are The Untouchables in all Music 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
This album is awesome! From my first listen all those years ago and to this day I love it! Seek and destroy was the first song I heard from Metallica. I love that my children sing every line to the four horseman when I play it!! They have good taste! This song never gets old!
You should watch the live version from San Diego 1992, that's killin it. Dunno if there's a good quality version on TH-cam tough. But it's worth buying or searching for the official DVD or VHS :D
WHIPLASH was The Song that changed it all. Even Motorheads Lemmy covered it because Metalica loved Motorhead.
No. When Lemmy "covers" your song, its HIS song now! 🤘😆
Come on man Be truthful
Metalica grew up on Motorhead and was one of there influence bands, Lemmy very rearly acknowledges other bands but they responded to one another with all out ear bleeds for one one another, I'm half deaf because of one of motorheads concerts from la mor east queens back in the day. Lemmy almost walked out because the stage divers kept going the mic stand and came down and hit Lemmy in the mouth. Crazy freaken night. Metalica played bigger venues further away. At least Motorhead played the local clubs. I just missed them at CBGBs. To this day I have one ear blown out pretty good.
Don't make me go REPECT Pentera style.
Ohhhhh play love Hate Pentera too
New York Metal Heads Rained Down Blood especially from Brooklyn.
For fun the Metalheads went to the Punks in Manhattan pulled their ear rings out when they gave us shit. That time it was a subculture almost militant.
Kids today have no idea what it was like growing up as a kid in the 70's then a teen in the 80's married in the 90's when grunge came in changed it all, untill New Metal came in.
Scorpions
Led Zeppelin - tribal Brooklyn
Pink Floyd
Deep purple
Rainbow
Black Sabbath
Judest Priest
Iron maiden
Metalica
Anthrax
S.O.D. Storm Troopers of Death(to heavy to be played on any radio)
Van Halen - Rush
Then all that New Wave stuff then the hair metal bands of 1985 to 2000
Mostly the guys who looked liked chicks had chicks going to their shows the like always followed and listened to all the stuff.
Aerosmith was a Footnote but led the hairbands, Warrant, Posion, Dokkon with George Lynch was freaking awesome then the one hit wonders until it's final countdown on Europe.
The only punks excepted was The Remons, The Misfits, Deftones
70's had so many classic good Man stuff where Men were Men And Women were Women music you would just have to have a good year on that in of itself.
New metal is OK
Keeping it Alive like Judest Priest still is. True Defenders of the Faith.
No one can deny Slipknot Rammstein, Disturbed, Five Finger Death punch awesome and 7fold
Of course there are so much more I missed
Like stabbing westward or Helmet and Chevelle
90' s had a like of nuance type rock for TV shows but you have you work cut out for ya. Congratulations
Your getting there.
The last one most important Christian Metal
Lots of Great stuff there Too in Time you will see.
Just like Megadeth Korn smashing pumpkins all had a life awakening started with Alice Cooper.
If you want The answer thought, there are tens of thousands of rabbits track's but only one track leads to the way your supposed to go, the road your supposed to take. Depends how long you chase rabbit tracks and the rabbit holes.
One Band comes to mind and you'll thank me later

very good MollyBoy, you are almost at the 20k subs mark, you made the second track on the album, now you need to react to the first track on this album which is "Hit The Lights" the first Thrash Metal song in the Band's History, go on forward Friend!
I'm glad I found your channel ....I like your reactions ....and welcome to the metal and Metallica family 🤘
I watch any song you react to because I like your personality tbh you are chill as hell
This was recorded in a studio located above the House of Guitars in Rochester, NY. The studio is not there, but the HOG and the record store in the basement still are.
Great reaction to another amazing song! And yes that Sweet Alabama riff in the middle that’s exactly where someone in the group came up with that riff idea, from the song “Sweet Home Alabama.” That’s why you were able to compare, cause it sounds like it. This album is magnificent. Trust me the next song from this album I very highly suggest is “Seek And Destroy.” Trust me you don’t want to miss it. Hope you have a great day! 🤘🤘
I’ve reacted to Seek and Destroy, I didn’t even realise it was on this album
@@MollyBoyTV oh wait that’s right I forgot about that lol. I guess forgot to mention that. Sorry about that man. In that case the next song on this album I highly suggest is “Whiplash”
Mustaine has been compensated for his parts on the 4 1/2 songs he Contributed on...NOT wrote and ZERO lyrics. Don't be confused and fueled by Mustaines jealousy and hatred towards the success of Metallica. We got 2 completely different bands. Beautiful! Because, there wouldn't be Metallica or Megadeth without the course taken. Not Everything is what it seems... I've grown up around both bands I definitely prefer Metallica over Megadeth, but I can appreciate them as artists still. 🤘🔥
Dave can write riffs, not songs. As evidenced by his work since Metallica 😂
I absolutely love and enjoy Dave Mustaine's bitterness😝😝😝 almost as much as I enjoy Megadeth itself
I watched both Megadeth and Metallica live within the last year. Both brought the heavy metal riffs that are foundational to what metal is known for. Never understood the hate between the fans of both bands. I'm just glad we still have them both. And Judas Priest. Yeah, Judas Priest.
So, Metallica had their epic 4, almost untouchable. But Megadeath has shredded for a dozen great albums, something Metallica couldn't do. Glad they split so we can enjoy both😊
@@joeswofford8519 If you're on a island and can only choose 3 albums between them, who do you think you are going with?
Metallica singer, guitarist James Hetfield & bassist Cliff Burton were both 20 & drummer Lars Ulrich & guitarist Kirk Hammett were both 21 when this was released.
This album was originally titled "Metal Up Your Ass", but the label refused, so the band retitled it Kill Em All. The Em refers to all record labels.
Just turned 20 when they recorded this 19 when they wrote the songs with strong help from Mustain he was 2 years older - He wrote 4 songs including alot of guitar parts including all the solos for this one
thank you for making me revisit this one! I was very late to the party when I heard this in the 90's when a friend of mine made me a "best of MetallicA" tape and I liked this one! and from time to time I listened to the album after but, today I felt I liked it even more! don't know why? anyway! thanks again! suggestion Mondays eh? how about a band called Everything Everything with their "No reptiles" song? (maybe you've heard it? they're an English art rock band from Manchester) that song was hooked into my hears for days when I discovered them in 2016! plus that whole album (Get To Heaven) is amazing! love the band too! but it's VERY different from metal and more on the side of Radiohead sometimes! don't know what you would think of it? 🤔they're thinking outside of the box for sure! have fun!🙂
I'm so glad you have gotten to this album- it was life-changing in the 80s-it gave pure adolescent anger and aggression a voice like never before. I really enjoy watching your reactions as you experience these classic thrash albums- (you should check out some of the early stuff from Death Angel too!)
Ponder this Molly boy they were boit 20 when they recorded this..magnificent..cheers from Kansas city
and yes, 11:25 is a bass drop. shoutout to Cliff
Anybody else hear Motorbreath starting in their head at the end of this song?
Many, many moons ago (more than I wish to admit) when I was 14, someone sat me down and played this song for me. I was beyond blown away, didn't know music could sound like this, and have been a metalhead ever since. Love seeing new folks checking this tune out for the first time \m/
It's a song about the time when the whole band had really sore throats - The four hoarse men - It's amazing how young they were, James (19), Lars (19), Kirk (20), Cliff (21) - it's a surprisingly mature album! 👍
Nice call on Sweet Home Alabama. Their original lead guitar player (Dave Mustaine from Megadeth) jokingly played Sweet Home Alabama and Lars loved it so they kept it in the song.
This album came out in 1983 and the guys were 19/20 - The track is one of the 4 songs co- written by the original guitar player Dave Mustaine who went on to form Megadeth- He was fired before Kill Em All was recorded though
My favorite Metallica song followed closely by Whiplash. Kill Em All is my favorite Metallica album, I bought it on its release date in ‘83, and it changed my life. I still own the vinyl.
At a time when I didn't know what I wanted musically, a friend lent me this album. This track is the one that got me into thrash (even though it's pretty mild, thrash-wise). I've headbanged so hard to that damn riff!
You should have started with Hit The Lights. Its the 1st song on the album. Its a rip-roaring adventure and reconized as very first ever thrash metal song in history. Thats the game changer for all underground metal in the 80s.
Four Horsemen is the 2nd song. Another great one. Just listen to the whole album. Its classic.
Love it! Seek and Destroy, No Remorse and Am I Evil are my favorites off this album and Am I Evil is just so badass. You gotta do that one!
Am I Evil is a cover song and not on this album.
One of my favorite albums of all time!
My second concert was Metallica on Ride the Lightning, so Kill 'Em All was key in developing my metal ear in the early '80s. Four Horsemen is awesome, Jump in the Fire, No Remorse, Phantom Lord ... a ton of winners. Thanks for the reaction.
Very cool, and very important, that you went back to Metallica's beginnings. Not just to hear how different and raw it is but to hear what started the thrash metal movement! This album was a total game changer!! Enjoy the rest of it as you get to it. The only song I recommend specifically is "Anesthesia-Pulling Teeth". It's an unbelievable bass solo from the late, great Cliff Burton that really highlights his talents!
It's very melodic but soundwise it feels like your teeth are being pulled without anesthesia. In my opinion, the sound should be mastered.
Whiplash and this song are the first two songs I ever heard by Metallica and I was hooked
😂 omg the look on your face @11:50 of "will it ever stop?" Made my day
This was the 1st Metallica album I heard back in the 80's. Smacked me in the face & I wanted more! Lol
Also 1st heard the Beastie Boys. It was a great time for music ❤
The Megadeth version of this song is called Mechanix... and it's way faster and different, but you can tell Dave Mustain wrote the riff. It's worth a listen! I love both versions.
Idk how much history you know, but Dave from megadeth wrote a lot of this song. Funny enough he added in “sweet home alabama” in part of it, he still laughs about it today. Technically the first solo is soloing over the riff to sweet home alabama.
Straight up.... Production quality, finances...many things come into play. In regards to the sound
BUT THE RAWNESS...💪😎👊.....
STRAIGHT 🔥
The absolute amazing thing about that album is all those guys were 17 and 18 years old at the time!!!!! That’s a pretty incredible album to write at that age!
Jump in the Fire and No Remorse are the other standout tracks for me from this album. Also looking forward to seeing you react to Cliff's bass solo "Anesthesia"
Here we go. I’ve been waiting so long for this reation
To me and i'm old school this is my favorite metallica album
No frills
Just pure thrash metal
God and when I was fourteen and it just came out
Change my life
I have been *waiting* for this one to come up. Now you need to add The Mechanix by Megadeth to the queue. Those two songs side by side encapsulate the differences between Metallica and Megadeth better than anything ever will. The writing sounds different on this album because Dave Mustaine wrote a good portion of it. This song in particular. You can check the liner notes on the album, and Dave has writing credits on several songs.
……this is my favorite “Metallica” album 🎸🔥❤️ great reaction !
“It doesn’t feel like the same people that wrote it are the same people who wrote “Master of Puppets”
You’re right on man. Dave Mustaine was still in the band for most of this album’s writing process (he was fired literally upon their arrival in NYC to record the album after a cross-country drive from California in the back of a rental truck) and his hard-driving technical style is all over it. Puppets would be their first album where none of the songs have Dave as a credited writer. Also, obviously the whole band’s song writing process had matured in those years, but Dave’s presence in the original lineup is heavily felt on Kill ‘Em All’s style to be sure.
Ohh dude you gotta listen to Shogun by Trivium. One of my favourite bands and songs.
James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett were both 20 years old; Lars Ulrich was 19; and the late, great Cliff Burton was 21. The entire show was comprised of nine songs from Kill 'Em All (the entire album minus “Motorbreath”), including classics like “Hit the Lights” and “Seek and Destroy”.
For me the best album... first Metallica record i herd .. GAME OVER. it. changed my life ...been into em ever since. You should check out the live version of this from Seattle 89;; killer.
Their first album from ‘83. They were kids, your age, man. This is arguably the first proper thrash album. It changed the metal and hard rock landscape.
Hell Yeahhh! This is where it starts my friend! Balls to the wall or nothing at all ! 🤘
It's really quite impressive how from album to album their sound changes, but also remans consistent, like it's a natural evolution, and not them intentionally saying " let's sound different" at least until the Black Album and beyond, those were a very conscious choice to go a different way. The thing with St. Anger is, as much as The Black album was a departure from the sound of the first four albums, St. anger is even more of a departure, from the 90's Metallica sound like Black Album, Load and Reload. That album is for me the one album that just never clicked with me, but I also watched the documentary for the making of it, Some kind of monster, so was privy to all the behind the scenes drama and stuff that went on during the recording of it. That's not to say you won't find songs you like on it, or won't like the album, you may end up loving it as it's technically one of their heaviest sounding albums since they were playing around with different and lower tunings for their instruments on some songs. But I think for thoroughness sake, you should listen to it, and all their albums so you can experience the journey like the rest of did, the good, bad, and ugly.
You have to react to Battery and Master of Puppets live in Seattle 1989‼️ That entire concert they play the songs even faster than the original studio songs. It’s Metallica at their peak.
Two the best solo's - no questions, no anything to say, i'm mad, ill, died man.
Metallica is my favorite band of all time. Really glad you’re enjoying it. Justice was probably their last early thrash album, but obviously The Black album was amazing. It may not be Thrash Metal, but it’s still Metal. Here’s the thing, after putting out a few not so great albums, they started to come back. Check out the video for Spit Out The Bone (2016) and tell me that that song isn’t Metal Up Your Ass!!!
A lot of people say the first 4 are the best, and they are really really good, but don’t discount everything after that. The black album catapulted them into the mega famous stratosphere, and for good reason. You already reacted to ‘wherever I may roam’ off that album and it really resonated with you. Load and reload have some absolute gems as well
Good metal is something that can bring a lot of good men together. It seems to help us connect and find common ground. Much like a good campfire in the cold wilderness.
Exciting, so close to hit the lights 🤘🏻
Spot on, Dave Mustaine (now Megadeth) wrote most of the songs on Killem All and some of the songs on Ride the LIghtning. Look at the credits.
I've been waiting for you to experience this one! It's a gem.
Easily the best song on the album and still top 10 Metallica imo, this song became a blueprint for future epics.
