    Teenage engineering: we need to up the price of our synth by a few hundred dollars because of the expansive screen.

    Wow, I’ve built a very very similar device recently, and I swear I didn’t see this one first (it’s better anyway!).
    Mines a mechanical keyboard, but I ended up using the Teensy 4.1, the same OLED, exact same crystal red switches, similar white keycaps, and even squeezing the OLED between keys.
    I’m just amazed we’ve built such similar devices, but I’m sure you’ve run into similar issues that influenced your decisions. The animation looks great too!

    That is incredible man. I read your dev logs. I come from a small town and sell quality electronics and rent out test gear here in nova Scotia and if you had a pcb left id make it worth your while. More than worth your while. If youre interested drop me an email. Ive got some quality meters and id let one go as appreciation for the board (which id pay the post). I have a hectic life as of late and dont have the time to design such an elaborate pcb. Im probably the most honest person in the world and im not the type to hoard gear as i usually send free electronics learning kits to random people in canada or the us. No pressure, great job brother. I have everything from extra ul certified meters to rc aftermarket parts and kits along with everything in between.

    damn this is lookin and sound good! but i think you should go with rgb illuminated rotary encoders. and maybe u can use regular low profile cherry switch caps. Your project looks more than a op-1 clone so it doesnt need to look like an op-1 go with geeky desing!

    🤯 This is wild! 👏👏👏👏
    Just completed Notes & Volts' Teensy MIDI series in order to build my own laser projector controller. But you've taken it to another level of excellence. Love your graphics on the multifunctional color display screen. I had no idea that Teensy could support everything you've got going on.
    I've already selected similar RGB LED backlit pushbutton rotary encoders, similar to yours. But, can only find circular neopixel LEDs from Adafruit (intended for eyeware 🙄 )
    Are you planning to add a MIDI interface with a DAW?

    Wow man. Slick. Ive been wondering what to do with a 4.1 ive upgraded the flash on. Id love to make a vocoder to go into my effects loop on my line 6 or a midi interface for recording basic drum tracks (i can then go into and tweak depending on the time signatures i play in) and adding some synth to the music i record.

    @Prajwal What was the approximate build cost of the unit ?

  • @SONWU
    @SONWU 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    First of all, GREAT PROGRESS. Now after watching it, I have some feedback.
    1. The controls could be simplified. For example on the ADSR page you can only adjust one parameter at the time. I think it might be better to have the four encoder mapped to all four parameters. Maybe you could switch pages or tabs using some of the other buttons instead of the encoders.
    2. Same for the oscillator section...One encoder per oscillator, clicking the encoder could change between Amplitude & Oscillator type. Of course in this case that would leave one encoder free, maybe for another oscillator (or white noise).

    • @SONWU
      @SONWU 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      PS: the idea of drawing the waveform is really good! Could be used to draw in automation for sequences as well.

    • @prajwalmahesh90
      @prajwalmahesh90  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the suggestions! Totally agree that using all the encoders when possible would probably be simpler/more efficient for a user.

    In this hardware version, how do you indicate the sequencer steps/beats that are either playing or having notes assigned? I imagine a line or matrix of neopixels would be good for this but maybe there's something else built in eg the oled.

    • @prajwalmahesh90
      @prajwalmahesh90  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was planning to just use the oled. I just figured there was a lot more flexibility that way (i.e. showing different layouts or different types of sequencers) rather than using something fixed in hardware. Also, this way, I can save some space on the board and make the whole thing a bit smaller
