Serendipity brought me here, I have never heard this before, it is one of the most beautiful songs written, with Annie's beautiful voice and the beautiful music. Haunting. This song moved me....just....just moved me to my very soul.
Hope you looked up the original Bob Marley version.... Also the scene in serendipity is one of the most romantic scenes of all time in film or television
I’ve always said, if one is to do a cover then it should be just as good or better than the original 😊 Annie’s execution of this track exceeded its limit 🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️ Nobody else could of done this. I’m a Jamaican and I ain’t gonna lie this rendition has moved me in such a way, that the original which I love so much, hadn’t done so. Annie you made this your own, sooooooo proud of you, as Sir Bob would be ⭐️🎶♥️🙏🏽
vonsdy11 I think Bob would've thought this was cultural appropriation, tutted, rolled his eyes, rolled a spliff and opened a can of Lilt (with its totally tropical taste).
Cultural appropriation is the adoption or use of the elements of one culture by members of another culture. Annie Lennox is doing a cover of a song by Bob Marley, she is not trying to become Jamaican. However there are Caucasian Jamaicans also you know. Artists perform covers of other artists music all the time because they hold them in high regard and love their song(s). We should not be throwing around cultural appropriation like its a blanket either because this is just a remake of a wonderful song by the late great Bob Marley that was done very well by the great Annie Lennox, period.
My favorite song from my favorite movie, "Serendipity", done expertly by Annie Lennox. There is no match to her voice. It brings me to tears every time I hear it.
This song feels like a warm hug from someone you love on a beautiful Caribbean beach. Never heard this until I watched Serendipity the other day. Just floored by how wonderful this sounds! Love you, Annie!
I don't ever remember a song by Annie Lennox, that I didn't like. In fact, I've liked her ever since she burst on the scene, in 1983, or maybe 1982. I don't quite remember tdy. But almost every song she's made, I've loved. She is one of my all time favorite singers. Her songs are very catchy, to my ears. The movie Changing Lanes, brought me here.
Medusa is amazing, torment, love, fate, desire, pain... oh the pain & torment - the originals were great, im almost certain this lady doesn't know how her stamp transformed them. Spine tingling. I still listen to these tracks today. Like I tell my kids, great music is eternal. Love x
I loved the Medusa album because it was a showcase of how one of the best things about pop music is that it almost begs to be reinterpreted over and over. And Annie took all those songs and did her own thing with them. This was a particularly gutsy song choice. It's a reggae song for heaven's sake! She's an incredible artist. I think Marley would have appreciated it.
The Marley version is better, but this is the closest approach to him. An extraordinary cover and a stupendous video. Watched it three times the first time, and it sparked deep inspiration in me--in my work.
when i watched this video in 1996 i understood the meaning of the song. to be waiting in vain for someone's response who not going to be interested depositing all emotionally delivery and is so that one becomes obsessive losing dignity and self-esteem
Your comment made me cry Alejandro. I never thought anyone would understand. People forget so easily, from spending a year of talking and loving everyday to me being left here alone.
I never knew this was an Annie Lennox song . Kept hearing it in different movies and it started driving me crazy to find out who sang it . the melody is really peaceful and soothing.
Wow! I really like this song. She did an fantastic job with this song. I loved it when Bob Marley did it and I fell in love with it again with Annie Lennox putting her flavoring to it. Great job.
A great twist on the Bob Marley song. Absolutely sublime vocals as usual from Annie. I love this woman's' voice so much, she always gives me goosebumps. Love you Annie.
I'm grateful to grew up while hearing great music from the golden times. Annie Lennox was one of those brilliant artist. I wish those great music times can be back again. For now, i'm thankful i could heard the great oldies in TH-cam.

I couldn't agree more. First heard it as the closing credits rolled on "Changing Lanes" and its been one of my absolute favorites since then. Beautiful rendition.
OK I'm going to say it. It's just an opinion. It's not a fact. Here goes...I PREFER THIS TO THE ORIGINAL. The performance, arrangement, and feel is simply fantastic. I LOVE the drums in particular! PS BIG Bob Marley fan - and I reckon he wouldn't mind someone cooked up a magic mash in his honour. Glory be Annie - YOU ROCK!
Annie Lennox is a true original! She is Beautiful and Brilliant in her Art. She as an intelligent woman and I am glad there are woman like her in the Music Industry and on this Planet. I love the colours of this Video, it is so timeless and we will still love seeing it in years to come.
I like the second verse of this song is: "So don't treat me like a puppet on a string Because I know how to do my thing Don't talk to me as if you think I'm dumb I wanna know when you're gotta come, you see " I'm not dumb. I can do anything. :)
Oh c'mon all of you. It's all about the music, isn't it? This and that... fuckall! She's always been absolutely wonderful singer and on this particular album, she wanted to give a bow to all of the music that had inspired her back in the days... And the outcome is, well, not that bad isn't it ? Love and peace
This is most beautiful rendition of Bob Marley 's Wait In Vain. Annie has the voice of an Angel. As an Artist Singer, she's at the top of my list.🤗😍😀 For Annie 🤩
hahahahahahahahahahahaha I am sorry to rebut this but, you must not know music very well. This song was meant to sound raspy, raw, pure, without any accompanying musical or vocal rifts or synthesized sounds. It was also meant to have the reggae tempo that the ORIGINAL singer and writer, the late GREAT REGGAE SUPER KING and MAJOR WORLD ICON BOB MARLEY, created for himself to sing. Though I adore and am in awe of Annie Lenox's voice/talent, be not mistaken, there is no one who can sing this song better than Bob himself. And no one who is a music fan or a history buff, would put such a LEGEND as BOB MARLEY, in the same stratosphere as an 80s pop star who is hardly known by anyone under 35, whilst he Bob Marley is and will forever musically and historically be, world renowned. And I stand by my words. One love anyways lol
Serendipity brought me here, I have never heard this before, it is one of the most beautiful songs written, with Annie's beautiful voice and the beautiful music. Haunting. This song moved me....just....just moved me to my very soul.
Wow, I’m shocked you’ve never heard this before, but then again maybe I’m old 😂 This is an amazing version and Annie’s voice is outstanding 👍🏻
I watch this movie, quite possibly, a dozen times or more a year. It is SO GOOD! Doesn't hurt that I'm a huge Cusack fan.
@@diabeatit5189same here. My family has a love actually vs Serendipity battle every year
Hope you looked up the original Bob Marley version.... Also the scene in serendipity is one of the most romantic scenes of all time in film or television
OMG I have loved this version for 29 years now
How can this video be so goofy and yet astonishingly beautiful at the same time? Magical!
I’ve always said, if one is to do a cover then it should be just as good or better than the original 😊 Annie’s execution of this track exceeded its limit 🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️ Nobody else could of done this. These arrangements would make Bob turn his grave 🥰 This rendition is just as endearing has Sir Bob 💙 Till death do we part, and into Eternity 🎶♥️🙏🏽
A worthy cover of one of Bob Marleys greatest songs.
Bob Marley is smiling, thanks Annie; what a wonderful cover of his song. Annie Lennox is one of the best singers of all time period!

music transcends color and culture anyway
I'll drink to that!
Thomas Hermann that's a lie....look jazz and rock n roll...stole those black artists songs and publishing
My favorite song from my favorite movie, "Serendipity", done expertly by Annie Lennox. There is no match to her voice. It brings me to tears every time I hear it.
This also plays in the ending credits of the movie Changing Lanes. I love Annie Lennox
X2 that movie to my its a master piece, i believe in love before watch that movie
Good movie!
Very good movie!
I just realized she is a healer …
If you are going to do a cover, you better be up to these standards. Almost as enduring as the original. Very nostalgic. Very good.
As some cover versions are dreadful... some luckily nobody has thought of covering.
There was not a bad song on this album! She is a legend!
@@bigb5206 everything she touches turns to gold.
BM's daughter stated this was the best cover ever of her father's classic composition.
Isn't she glorious? What an artist.
She is.
AWESOMELY BEAUTIFUL SONG.
Glorious, and what a message for all of the folks who are waiting for love. Love is so wonderful and so unfair.
SHE'S MAGNIFICENT!!!!!!!! 👑
Are u referring to the french maid outfit or music?
Omg. I am in love with this song.
It's a cover that Annie is singing so beautifully.
Only Annie could merge Marley and Minnie Mouse. Brilliant! :-)
And what a great rendition...
I used to hang iron w a Johnny Mac! He was my brother n still is!

Medusa: album where the covers beat and overcome the originals. The Annie Lennox touch.
Annie's version tops the one by another legend himself.

Ms. Annie Lennox is so brilliant! What an artist. Thank you for sharing your gifts.

Even Changing Lanes Movie starring Sam L. Jackson and Ben Affleck
Serendipity is one of my all time favorite movies, it's the first time i heard this too.
Complex movie but it's really enjoyable.
Me too!! Heard it a few days ago for the first time!
How can someone dislike this masterpiece? Absolutely perfect!
Because they don't like it would be my guess. What is more telling is your need to point it out and then challenge it.

Is there anything more to add? So beautifully sung. The video is just amazing whimsical melancholy. I can't stop watching it.
