Lyrics
I used to be lunatic from the gracious days
I used to be woebegone and so restless nights
My aching heart would bleed for you to see
Oh but now...
(I don't find myself bouncing home whistling buttonhole tunes to make me cry)
No more "I love you's"
The language is leaving me
No more "I love you's"
Changes are shifting outside the word
(The lover speaks about the monsters)
I used to have demons in my room at night
Desire, despair, desire... SOOO MANY MONSTERS!
Oh but now...
(I don't find myself bouncing home whistling buttonhole tunes to make me cry)
No more "I love you's"
The language is leaving me
No more "I love you's"
The language is leaving me in silence
No more "I love you's"
Changes are shifting outside the word
(They were being really crazy
They were on the come.
And you know what mummy?
Everybody was being really crazy.
Uh huh. The monsters are crazy.
There are monsters outside.)

son artistas and you one man que filosofa
While working for a major broadcaster on the production of Live 8 in Hyde Park in July 2005, I spent the entire day setting up, testing, and fixing various things, ready for the live event the next day.
It was around 6 p.m., and I made my way across the park to get to the tube station for my journey home. This led me past the main stage. If it had been Saturday, there would have been thousands of people watching the artists, but the day before, only engineers, media people, and security were on site.
Right at the moment I came within 30 meters of the stage, Annie walked on stage and started to sing, doing a sound check. As someone accustomed to backstage work, I know the deal: you don't stop and gawp; you treat it as a regular day at the office. Unfortunately for Annie, I became transfixed and stood front and left, unable to move. That voice-it's something I recall with unusual clarity to this day. She fixed me with a long stare, then smiled and sang to me for a very long period; it was almost like she was performing just for me. I recall waving and mimicking someone embarrassed, she waved back and continued the sound check. I've worked with all kinds of artists in the past, often having a drink with them at the end of a gig, so this was entirely out of character and very confusing. I'd had a long chat with Dave Gilmore from Pink Floyd and Robbie Williams a few hours earlier, I don't usually get star-struck.
I'm embarrassed to recall just how unprofessional I was, and if anybody in her media team reads this, please pass on my apologies. That 'just for me' performance is something that lives in my memory as vividly as the day it happened.
Needless to say, after about fifteen minutes, a big bloke from security moved me on. but It's still one of the most endearing memories of my time working in broadcasting.
Amazing, thank you for sharing. I love special memories like that.
❤
Her voice is such a thing of beauty and will be discovered for many generations after mine.

Funny how our tastes change through life. When this song came out I had no interest in the Eurythmics or Annie Lennox, now I'm over 60 and have discovered this voice and talent. Brilliant. It's never too late.
A rare talent indeed. A poet. A musician. And above all a singer imo. Please check out her and Dave Stewart colabs. Beautiful music.
I was having the same thought. Well, I did like some of her and Eurythmics ' music back in the day. But now I'm seeing genius in it.
I'm 40. Same here :) I told my wife about it yesterday.
Same here.
Just curious. What were you listening to instead? Eurythmics were like a drug for me at the very start. Annie intoxicated me. God, I wish they would make just one more album and tour. I was lucky enough to see Annie solo once. She blew the house down.

I just found this masterpiece 😭 one of the best things I’ve ever heard
Getting divorced I write this with tears 😭 in my eyes. You only truly understand the lyrics of a song once you live it.
I'm with you there. I was 13 or 14 when this song was new. After having lived and loved and so secretly losing those loves, this song hits harder and has new meaning.
what a wimp.
Been, seen, done, you should now play the eurythmics...the miracle of love
Joel, my heart goes out to you. I am living again after my 'soul mate' of 24 years left me. The anguish I felt playing the original of this song by The Lover Speaks was indescribable. Now divorced, I am starting to live and love again. You cannot know it now, but so will you.

How quickly a song can take you back to a certain memory, down to who you were with, what they were wearing. I lost my father in 2021 and it was one of the hardest days of my life. I miss him so much and I think about him everyday. My Dad loved all different types of music and this song reminds me of when we used to drive 9 hours to Orlando, FL to go see family during the summer. He had this briefcase that was for holding cassette tapes, and a lot of the time he would ask me to grab him one, but sometimes he would let me choose. I took my cassette tape out of my cassette player and put in Annie Lennox and I remember him looking confused and then he just had a big smile on his face and he laughed. We listened to side A and B of the cassette and just hearing this song today, it brought me right back to that day. Love you and miss you Pops.
❤
he always will be treasured those precious moment as you do.
He misses you too. I can relate.
May his memory be a blessing. The love never dies.
Ah, the magic that music wields.

Two years ago, my beloved dog Scooter died, my cat Millie died, my partner of 12 years died of cancer, and my Dad died suddenly -- and I was let go from my job after 18 years. I played this song and the video endlessly - crying like I never cried before. Grieving and sobbing as if the tears would flow forever. "My aching heart would bleed for you to see"
I vowed to myself No More "I Love You's".
At the time, I thought I would never let myself love again - never, ever say it again. Annie's voice, the song, the video were with me through countless hours of emotional suffering and I thank God for it. I've moved on with my life and I do say "I Love You". This video will be a part of my memorial service when it's time for me to go. I will always, always remember Annie's voice, the song, the visuals that carried me during the worst part of my life. I love you Annie Lennox. Always, Kenny
God bless you man ,I hope you find comfort and happiness.

+K Orwig Well put! This is one of those songs that you can really let go to. It's just brilliant.
My mom played this when I was a baby and she sang this to me while I was about to go to bed. Now I can relate to this song even more because my mom has been a single mother since then. It makes me cry right now when I realized how stressed she was at that time.
Im 33 ,, i always remember my mummy listening to these type of songs in the mid 90s ,, she passed away at 42 ,, listening to songs like this can very nostalgic for me personally
I turned 71 years old last month. I've saved this video for quite some time and play it frequently. Today I'm sitting here and not only feeling the vibes but .... I closed my eyes and remembered a time when I was that young. Guys/Gals ... enjoy living. We all go through ups and downs, but in the end it's all about how you feel about yourself. I love being young. I'm not 100. LOL.

I love what you wrote and burst out laughing. I love being young! I'm not yet 50! And long may that attitude continue for both of us :-)
My dad died 3 years ago, this was one of his favourite songs. One of the last things he said to me before he stopped being able to talk was ‘I love you’. I was so blessed but I’m so heartbroken 💔 this will forever remind me of him x
My deepest condolences.
You dad had good taste. RIP.
I'm sorry about your dad Siobhan, I know what it's like to lose a parent n have a song that reminds u of them ,♥️♥️♥️ one consolation is that our respective songs remind us that we had the privilege of having our loved ones in our lives n have lots of special times that we can treasure forever more n if it helps , my late mum n ur dad will be up there singing their hearts out so that we can all hear it down here
Sorry to hear that
Thank you for sharing, Siobhan; I get teared up every time I play it, for similar reasons. Have full faith you'll connect again. You will!
I realized today I'll never hear the words I love you again and it brought me to this song. It's a hard pill to swallow but one I must accept.
What is I love you again? A movie? Show? My own mind brought me to look for the video so I can hear the whole song again.
Love is everywhere, you'll hear those words again.
No matter what the intent of this song, it had a major impact on me. My mom passed away in 1995. Her lung cancer spread to her brain. Once in her brain it was hard for her to communicate. So the "no more I love you's" and "language is leaving me" lyrics totally captured what I was feeling as my mom's cancer took away her ability to tell me she loved me. I played the song over and over in 1995-96 and cried every time. If I ever got to meet Annie Lennox, I'd thank her for this song. And in case I never get to meet her... Annie Lennox, thank you for this song.
God bless

There's no doubt about it, this woman was good. I love music/songs a bit off the beaten track, and this is one of them.
At age 55 I recently rediscovered the Eurythmics and Annie Lennox...and cannot believe I didn't pay attention to what is obviously one of the best voices and talents on the planet. The power, beauty and control in her voice and performance is astounding. And all in one of the most beautiful women to ever grace a stage. WOW!
Nice one. X
I totally agree Jeff 🤨🙈I did the same..I’m 55 …and I’m deeply enthralled in her songs…especially..no more I love you😢it’s relevant at times for me🙏
Celebrate you are able to have known classics and the opportunity to "rediscover" them.
Her voice is beyond compare.
Eurythmics are overly familiar on radio stations so I think that why we don't pay enough attention - but like you I'm deep diving into their work and imagery which is so versatile, original, intelligent; the production on Sweet Dreams is from 1983, Miracle of Love doesn't even make it into the Guardian list of their top 30 songs, Annie Lennox vocal range of There Must be an Angel Playing in My Heart - just wow, the female Freddie Mercury
Annie's voice is how love would sound if it were too sing.

beautiful music Annie. I can't help but tell you I love you!
This song is not about loss of lover or depression. This about going through dementia. Her grand mother. One of the first things to go is ability to express love. As memory leaves, so do the words. " No more I love yous, the language is leaving me in silence, no more I love yous, changes are shifting outside the word."
She didn’t write this song, the original is by the lover speaks and is about how breaking up means you lose the language of love! However I agree when Annie was singing it she’s relating it to dementia x

This was the song that saw me through chemotherapy in the early 1990s. I played it over and over and got to know every word, every note, every instrument used. Thank you so much 💓
You got it, no matter what!
NICE. Annie Lennox Superstar
Just seen Eurythmics in a comment. From the 80's. I bought one of her CD's with Broken Glass. Really meant a lot to me. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry for your loss
Потрясающая музыка! потрясающий песня! Потрясающая голос! Интересный Клип! Шедевр! Класика! Браво Анни Ленокс!!!👍👍👍
the perfect female David Bowie. twin flames perhaps?!
This song is like wine, the years go by and it's getting better and better... Thank you Annie
Let the video die. Ugh
Exactly
I know! It is a cover of a song from 1986, Annie Lennox took it and made it bloom.
And it makes me realize how today's songs are nowadays. No, it's not just the getting old. Today's songs don't have this level of artistry and vocal performance.
maybe you're just further away from luv.... like me...
I lost my beautiful son in 2020 and hearing this on New Years eve felt like he was here with me and his little sisters .... he’s with us always. ❤️
Sorry for your lost
He still lives in you much love to ya
Rest in peace... in a way better place
This song reminds me of my grandparents standing with me on New Year’s Eve watching the fireworks in London even though they died when I was growing up as a teenager. They never leave me ever best night it was.
rest in peace🍃
For a second I was back in 95. Thankful to have lived in such a wonderful time.
Love this song
This song hits right in the heart. A deep nostalgia.
I thought it hits in the lungs 🫁
Absolutely right
I agree.
Indeed.

This reminds me of my dear friend Greg who passed away 4 years ago. He was a huge Annie Lennox fan and this was played at his Funeral. I Miss him so so much. I Will Always Love You Greg 🌈🥰💞
-No More- I Love You -'s- ❤️
Strange I was actually thinking of having this played at my funeral to.
RIP my friend
Did dr Phil tell him too?😭
@v- r-m why would you make a comment like that, loser?
Such a great song. I can’t stop playing it.
Here a fan of Annie , amazing voice
Lol i didnt know the name of this song so i typed in "dooba dooba dub dub ahh" and it worked 👌
I would have typed "doody doody dah dah dah", i wonder if that works as well... I'd be honored if some Annie Lennox fans would check out my acoustic piano & vocal cover (live, no autotune) of PRAYING FOR TIME on my channel in tribute to the great GEORGE MICHAEL. The man hasn't gotten his due for all the contributions he made to modern music as a vocalist, songwriter and producer. But eventually he will get his due. THANK YOU GEORGE. WE MISS YOU.
Was it because of the meme
@@nuradinali3662 yes😂
I looked up do do dodododo ahhh
same
Total commercialization of today's "music" prevents true geniuses from replicating Annie's magic.

I will always love this song and her stunning. voice.
A beautiful song from when the world was still right. Every note has its place. Great Annie.
funny how the world is always just right when your life is also going well and carefree
Once had the son of a dementia patient I was looking after tell me that this song broke his heart, his mother no longer recognized him... so despite her being alive, she was unable to give him any more "I love yous"... Completely changed the meaning of the song for me.
That is my absolute biggest fear in life, hands down. My mother looking at me and having no clue who I am. My heart goes out to the guy.
And that really does kind of provide an alternative context for this song.
Such a hard thing for a family to go through...my wife works in a nursing home and seems to be particularly fond of the dementia patients...couldn't imagine...
That's heartbreaking xx
Wherever something resonates, "it" fits... regardless.
Infelizmente minha mãe está nessa situação. 😢😢, pelo menos tenho o conforto de que ela sempre foi uma mãe amorosa e que sempre nos amou.
Her best song. Manages to be both heartbreakingly melancholy and uplifting at the same time. A classic single.
Me encantó tu comentarió imposible describirlo mejor
I agree!
Another beautiful song of melancholy - th-cam.com/video/_AmkmqYEarw/w-d-xo.html
Try listening to the original by The Lover Speaks. It’s even more melancholy.
Thanks - I didn't realise it was a cover! I do find her version more devastatingly moving, personally, though she uses much of the arrangement of the original.
She has a knack of choosing great covers, including the equally wonderful Dido's Lament, and Ash's Shining Light (I wasn't a fans of Dave Stewart's songs, except the excellent first single, Sweet Dreams).
one of the most beautiful woman in her day, wtf was Dave Stewart thinking? I love Annie her voice is captivating, with a face to die for, x
Dave ?
I was incredibly fortunate to be a young child when this song played non-stop on the radio. I always thought she had the voice of an angel.
Ur so lucky I would do anything to hear this on the radio😭😭😭😭
Another absolute masterpiece of Annie Lennox. She's an outstanding musician!
no more I love you's this sounds even better on my laptop since I switched it to gaurda linux from windows 11
This is a cover of the 1986 version

I was about 11 months in recovery when this came out, i was living in south Central L.A., trying to feel my way. Here I am, coming up on year 29, and this song is still in heavy rotation for me. I'm so glad its a part of my life's soundtrack.
Good on you. Keep at it!
Wow. Amazing accomplishment. Kudos and all the best.

Love to you ❤
I am 22 years from alcohol and some drugs. Keep the faith my friend. ✌️
This song is one of my favorites of all time. Annie is an incredible talent. Great vocal on this song.
Ella es realmente magnífica!¡!
I love this song so much.. Since it came out, it is the best song ever, and sadly most of the people that I'm friends with , and family members have never heard it and I can't understand why? I just happened to run across it in my feed today on May 13Th 2024. And the bridge to this song is amazing. It's just so haunting and beautiful.. ❤❤
This song makes me cry. Takes me back to when life was simple and my dad was still alive
Your dad's in a better place 🙏.
@@jmac1851 I hope this great song makes you remember him with joy
