Ever since i've heard of this watch, I saved up my nickels & dimes so to speak, and got it sent in from Japan. It hits the criteria, ISO 6425 certified, solid end-links/bracelet, toolless adjustment, milled clasp, 4pm signed crown, fantastic lume, and on top of all that.. a solar quartz movement that is meant to last. It's a value packed tool watch that looks great. A watch I will use, not to be babied.
100% agree! I bought one of these after my long time affair with the SKX. It didn’t replace my SKX but it’s certainly a great companion to switch it up with for tool watch activities. I do love the appearance of the lume on the hands in the daytime. All the pro masters have that kind of snowflake texture in the daylight on the applied lume portions. Great review, I threw mine on after watching this.
This is the international version of the watch (BN0150-61E),the JDM says "Made in Japan" on the dial and on the back of the case...to be honest it doesn't really matter the quality is the same... just for informational purposes
This citizen promaster is excellent and I have the bracelet version which does have tiny grip collers in the links so be careful you don't lose them if links need removing. You normally only become aware of this when refitting the pins and thay fall out again. Luckily enough I found the tiny grip collers and refitted them... I hope this is helpful.
Nice intro and review. Nice watch. I regretted selling my blue model, and had to replace it with another (in black) on a 5 Ring Zulu. I’ve owned many ‘Under $1000’ Divers, and these two were both the most accurate of the lot...including a Tuna 033.
Citizen makes some great affordable watches that don't get too much attention from the Watch Community, probably because of the quartz movement. I've had a Nighthawk for a couple of years and think it's just great. If I didn't already own a bunch of Seiko divers I would definitely consider this Promaster Marine 200.
It has automatics with better specs than their Seiko counterparts at a much lower price, i doubt i Will but more watches since already iam more than Happy with my collection
A very good video of what looks like great timepiece. Like many, I’m always looking at automatic timepieces, but this watch is really making me yearn for an eco drive. I bought a Seiko solar diver in 2014 and sold it a couple of years ago at a profit, but am now regretting it! This watch is so good as a tool and I’m really keen to get one. I have the BNO 150. It came on that rubber/polyurethane uncomfortable strap. Wore it for a month then bought BRAC #35, Oyster style from Long Island Watch. Dresses up the watch nicely,feels much better and allows for more wearing options.

I enjoyed your video and based on your critique of this watch along with others I plan on making a purchase in the very near future... I am a bit concerned about the band size.. my wrist is about 8.25-8.5 inches around..as you pointed out there are 2 adjustment mechanisms.. do you think it will adjust out to those dimensions ?? finding extra links for the band could be a frustration for a non-domestic watch..

I have the citizen marine automatic. I have charted this automatic (8204 movement) for over a week, using the atomic clock out of Fort Collins Colorado. What I have discovered so far, this watch picks up two to three seconds sitting overnight, looses two to four seconds during use. Now this watch is new new and I'm sure things will change, but for an automatic, this is almost unheard of. I think I'm following in love with citizen watches. This watch is number 5 in my citizen collection, and by the way all 5, watches the second hits all indices.
When open does this have a giant spacer surrounding a small movement? I can't seem to find any pictures of it with the caseback open. Those big spacers bother me.
As usual great intro and a nice review. It seems that I need to give those Citizens more attention. I love Seiko, but I don't have an affinity with Citizen as their watches are mostly powered by solar energy which doesn't appeal to me. But a few days ago I saw some pictures of a Citizen Chronomaster and it would give a Grand Seiko a run for its money, even though it's quartz.
Another nice intro. A ratcheting extension on an entry level piece! That really puts some more expensive brands to shame. My experience with Seiko/Citizen, and some German brands, also puts many others to shame. Citizen really knows what they're doing.
I have the same strap on the Excalibur version and pin and collar system used on mine - no problem with the strap so far very solid love the extension system.
Yeah, it should be pin and collar on this guy too I believe and if the pins keep falling out that means that someone might have messed with it and lost collars.
Nice review......question for you....do u think the 0156 bracelet will fit the 0040 watch? There is a 2mm diff in case size i believe but from your description the 0156 bracelet is nicer. Maybe some light modification.....and I could get it to work.....I own the 0040.... Thanks
You can buy the watch on a rubber dive strap for under $200,. There is an oyster bracelet made for this watch for $30 on Ebay which fits like an OEM and looks terrific.
Nice review, the bracelet is a pin and collar system however and like most they are very easy to lose when resizing and some of the high street shops do not even know they are there (always size my own for this reason).
I ordered this watch off E-Bay it came on a black rubber band i would really like to order the exact same bracelet as the one you show here on your very good review !

I got one of the old style before they changed them all to ECO-Drive. Mine was not nearly as big as they became. Mine had a rubber strap and I used it for table dives and a backup for my dive computer on wetsuit and drysuit dives for years. I liked it because I could wear the same watch daily, and for diving. These things, though - I'm not going to walk around with that much weight on my arm for no reason; it's just ridiculous!
I just bought this watch, was wondering if anybody else's bezel has some up and down play. I thought it should be tight to the case but mine seems to be spring loaded with some up and down movement. is this normal??
WoW ok, thanks for reply much appreciated. Bruce told someone in the comments awhile ago he had sent it into Rolex for assessment. Sounds like Rolex told him it was beyond repair.

I picked up mine while on embassy duty in Tokyo. I like 60 click bezels, they feel more precise. As for turning the bezel, I think it is not a big deal. Let's face it, the vast majority of gents who buy a dive watch are desk divers. Sadly, I also don't care for push pins so I changed out the bracelet. Semper Fi

Cool watch, it was on my list but I couldn't find the version with bracelet. I'm into Citizens at the moment and after 5 pieces none has/had perfect second hand alignment. Yours isn't hitting markers perfectly either from what I can see. Bit of shame as that drives my OCD crazy.
z00h all 3 of mine are dead on accurate seconds hitting the marker. There is a way that you can “realign “ it , go online and search instructions based on your model
Citizen watches can't get a enthusiast fans as Seiko's, or G shock, I have one in a group, and it performs fantastic, not stand out but had it own place.
I have just purchased the green version on bracelet with pin and collar and i have a 2018 black on bracelet also pin and collar... they are very easy to lose if you do not know they are in there. These bracelets are solid when resized correctly.

Hit the second marks... Your watch maybe. Not all of them. But it's a great piece!
I had two of them non-JDM that didn't hit the marks. It was closer on one side of the dial and just off on the other half.
