Just about to go buy an arbor press today for leatherworking, and while I am no tool and die maker by trade, I do have CNC at my disposal, and while I do hate drilling out cast iron, it looks like I have a nice project ahead of me. Great fence, wonderful build quality. KUDOS

well done! You are indeed a maker. Im sure people would love to see all of the little things you "fix/upgrade" around the house. Most do not even know the limits of what can be done. SHOW THEM :)

*Works perfectly for my use as a heated press **MyBest.Tools** Space between the ram jack and the base is a little tight. Make sure you set the ram jack arm so that it's in a position for you to get maximum leverage on whatever you're pressing. You may have to unbolt the front plate of the press and realign the ram in the teeth so that the arm is not at an awkward angle when fully cranked down.Other than aligning the ram in the teeth with the crank arm this .5 ton arbor press comes out of the box pretty much ready to use.*

Hi there! I don't have the tools for drilling steel, but this gave me ideas for making a modification that will work for me! Thank you so much. I've seen drilling out the arbor for making a Rivet press, but the 'Fence' is new and an awesome addition, as well as 'Silent Tooling'!!!

Nice !! Just got one. This is the nicest setup so far I've seen... love the idea of making your own dies for leather will have to give it a go !! I'm setting up for Rivets, Snaps, Grommets, eyelets, and anything more I can think of. Dirty jobs not so clean a setup like yours.

Hey Don. Thanks for the wonderful video using the Harbor Freight arbor press. I especially like the accessories you have devised for the press. I too have a HF 1 ton press and I have drilled a 3/8" hole into the ramrod along with the set screw. I would like to know if you have plans drawn out for the stamp fence and fiberglass base. I think those additions would give the precision I seek.

A question about mounting a set screw in the side of the arbor press ram: I am going to use a 1/4" set screw and wondered which was a better 1/4" thread for this application - a coarse (1/4-20) or a fine (1/4-28) thread? I have both taps and have easy local access to both size set screws. I realize the coarse thread one is more resistant to the threads tearing, but the fine thread allows finer adjustment which is a non-issue here. Which will hold tighter?

+Johnny Alberty Hi and thanks for the nice words. Harbor Freight was where I bought the press. I use one of their often-found 20% off coupons and paid about $40 for the press! Did some deburring with a file, cleaned it and painted it the color you see. Don.
