Nicely done. Appreciate it. Wish that Shppify let you build the Homepage first - instead of starting with uploading products. Let me just get the store built before we fill the shelves - ya know? They make you start with loading in products. That's literally like bringing in your inventory before you've designed your store. so weird. or maybe i'm missing something.
Hi Amy. Shopify is ecommerce focused so they probably give priority to these things. However, you don't have to necessarily add the products first thing. You should be able to just design the site and add the products later on. If you are looking for something with a bit more design options perhaps you'd like to check Wix out, read our review here: www.websitetooltester.com/en/reviews/wix-review/ecommerce/
Thanks for this video, very interesting! I have a question though, what would you recommend between Basic Shopify Plan and the Basic Commerce Plan on Squarespace? Would the second one be more interesting as there is 0% transaction fee? It's for a micro business based in France and I'm not sure which one to choose.. Many thanks !!
Thanks for your comment Alice! Yes, I think Squarespace's Basic Commerce Plan might be the more cost-effective option for you (unfortunately, Shopify Payments isn't yet available in France - this would remove the transaction fees). You can find more information here: www.websitetooltester.com/en/reviews/squarespace-review/ecommerce/ Another option worth looking into if you haven't already is Wix's ecommerce solution, as they also don't charge any sales fees: www.websitetooltester.com/en/reviews/wix-review/ecommerce/
Hi Grace, I'd recommend checking out Wix - its Wix Booking feature will let you integrate with Zoom. You can find out more here: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/wix-bookings/ Squarespace's Scheduling feature might also do the job (I believe it integrates with Zoom) - more info at www.websitetooltester.com/out/squarespace-scheduling
I’m having someone make my Shopify account now I’m remembering that I use to use squarespace and I love their designs. I’m going to see how I like Shopify since I’ve never used it before
Hey, great video. I have a clothing start up, my question is would you recommend using the basic Shopify plan which is 29$ or the Squarespace business plan which is 26$ a month. Both of them have a few features missing so I am confused as to which would help me more. Also do any of them offer a free business email on the domain? Thanks!
Hi Nidah, it depends a bit how large your store is supposed to become. For a smaller one Squarespace should be just fine. For Shopify the question is also whether you can use Shopify Payments in your country. If that's the case you don't need to pay additional sales fees to Shopify, which would probably make it quite an attractive option too.
WebsiteToolTester , thank you for your response. I am going to start my business now in a few months so it’s just the beginning literally. Shopify does take transactional fees in India.
Hi there! It's possible to export your products, customers, and order data from Squarespace, and then import it to Shopify. But you won't be able to export your site's design or content - all that will have to be rebuilt in Shopify. Hope that helps.
Hi there! Both are good options for selling digital downloads. With both, you're looking at paying around $27/month for an ecommerce website plan. However, there are a few key differences: - Wix's file size limits differ depending on the file type. For example, images have a 40MB limit while zip files have a 1GB limit. Squarespace on the other hand has a 300MB limit for all file types - Wix lets you set product quantities and SKUs for digital files, while Squarespace doesn't - Wix lets customers download the file for 30 days after purchasing it (they'll receive a link via email). Squarespace also emails a link but it expires after 24 hours - however, customers can receive a new email link after this time So, it really depends on which one suits your requirements. I hope that helps!
I just had all my inventory disappear on Squarespace. While they were visible on the website you could not add to cart. Going to live chat I had 2 reps just leave the chat and I was put in the que again. I tried adding a product and it disappeared in inventory, but on the site you could add to cart for $0. So yeah, I’m looking for an alternative.
Hi there. I'm sorry to hear you're not satisfied with their service. If you're looking for an alternative, you might want to check out e.g. Wix or Shopify. You can read our detailed reviews about these providers here: www.websitetooltester.com/en/reviews/wix-review/ecommerce/ www.websitetooltester.com/en/reviews/shopify/
Hi there. Weebly was recently bought by Square, and Squarespace is a totally different website builder. I know, it gest confusing with those similar names. We have a comparison of Weebly and Squarespace here: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/squarespace-vs-weebly/
What made me hate Squarespace is the shop in mobile version. I hate the scrolling right and left. AND WORSE the product images don’t show multiple. Basically the user has to guess that there are more than one!!, there is a tiny number in black only which no one can see.
Hi there. I am not too sure what do you mean with the "scrolling right and left", but perhaps this could be solved choosing another template? It's true, however, that at times it's not easy to see if there is more than 1 image for products you sell - even if they have a little overlay on the images saying image '1/3'.
Hi there, in which region are you based? Squarespace's shipping and tax options are pretty good if you're based in the US, but if you're located elsewhere maybe we can help you find a better alternative.
Hi there. Shopify doesn't win all the points exclusively, but it's true that when it comes to ecommerce, its a more rounded solution than Squarespace (which is not bad). Perhaps, Squarespace is better than Shopify when selling services, and of course their awesome blog and beautiful templates.
Thank you for the real review I hate hearing people just talk
loved this so much I am more of a visual audio learner so this put it into perspective and was fun to watch.

If I decided that let’s say square space is not what I want to use anymore, can I switch it over to another e-commerce website like Shopify?

Nice work and parvide the best information from shopify
Hi, I would like to sell printables. Can you tell which is best to open a store?

I wish I watched this before I tried to build the next ecommerce empire on squarespace. Domain transferring rn. one day at a time.
This was dope

Can I connect my square URL to my Squarespace website?
Hi Joy, by URL, do you mean your Square domain name?
yes, it's an option now as an integration for pos systems or selling (like at markets)
Amazing! Thank you so so much for doing this ❤️
Hi there! Many thanks for your nice feedback! :)
Is squareUp/weebly different than square space?

Squarespace has a lot of limitations when it comes to taxes/international/shipping/apps etc wish squarespace would up its e-commerce offer
Hi there, in which region are you based? Squarespace's shipping and tax options are pretty good if you're based in the US, but if you're located elsewhere maybe we can help you find a better alternative.
Excellent comparison
Thanks
Wrong video title guys.
Hi Chris. You are absolutely right, thanks a lot for the heads up.
Shopify is not all that 🤷🏽♀️
Hi there, thanks for leaving the comment about Shopify, could you elaborate a bit what you mean? Thanks :-)
@@tooltester square space has significantly stepped its game up you should get a member ship of some sort & redo this comparison video

You may feel this way but it's not the case :-) Why do you think that?
